Huge pain the ass to bid on govt contracts.

Is Accounting a good field to go into? I'm currently deciding what major to go for I have 2 in mind and one is Accounting, I'm kinda leaning towards acc but I don't know. Can any accountants tell me about the job life? I'm from the UK Btw.
>>
>>1500484
why? why? why? This question is so fucking vague. We don't know anything about you, your interests, or your skills. I would be willing to bet $100 you don't even post a response after this.

My bad sir, I am a high school grad and I was looking into what I wanted to major in an I had 2 choices that were for me one was compSci and one was Accounting. My skills? Well I don't know what kind of skills you are talking about.

I'm a mid twenties professional with 6 years of experience as the following:

- Data analytics - building database and reporting platforms in SQL, Python and with web front ends for management. Leading MI calls with senior management to discuss performance and also suggesting improvements as a subject matter expert in consumer credit.

- Senior Business Analyst - working with cross regional consumer banking teams leading global projects and working closely with ops teams, senior management and technology teams to prioritise workflow and save money.

I'm considering doing a BSc in Economics and Finance both because I find the subject matter interesting and also to help me to progress professionally. I don't currently hold a degree.

Is it worth my time and money to do the degree (I can afford both), or should I just keep working the way I have for the past 6 years and keep moving up that way. Am I more employable with the degree?

Thoughts?

How many ranks in Diplomacy do you have?
>>
>>1500441
Are you running into a roadblock? Do you find yourself having to explain the fact you don't have a degree? If not, I wouldn't bother. If you find that you need a degree to progress your career, get it.

People have been finding this weird dollar bill things all over the US and posting about them on reddit
>inb4 hurr reddit

They contain all these references to Wednesday, September 14 and the Federal Reserve, like there's supposed to be some big event. They have URL's to this weird website that has a countdown timer that's supposed to end tomorrow.

My guess is that some whales are getting together and trying to maximize market anxiety in order to make tons of money off of their short positions.

Vanguard thinks everyone should carry about 20% portfolio exposure to international bonds.

Should it be something like 60% us stocks, 20% us bonds and 20% international bonds with the Vanguard Total International Bond ETF?

I thought Stocks should be a bit higher in a portfolio mix when you are younger.

No, you have it wrong. They're saying 20% of your bonds should be international, not 20% of your entire portfolio. Hope this helps.

So, what the fuck is up with this? All this crazy fake currency being anonymously distributed throughout all fifty states (pic related) without a peep on the news? Is this the happening we're worried about? My money's on OPEC announcing (when the countdown reaches zero at 7:00 pm EST *TOMORROW*) that they will begin accepting Chinese Yuan (in addition to or in place of the presently-exclusive "petrodollar") in exchange for crude oil.

How do I short the dollar TODAY?

How do you apply for a job when you suffered from depression and your CV is ruined?

Sorry for the blog. I try to keep it short. I skipped a grade, I always got good grades with barely any effort, I got into a very high ranked university, I kept making above average grades there with little effort. I suffered from chronic depression my entire life and have been in therapy more than once but in my 4th semester it went out of control. Zero energy, zero motivation for anything. For 2 years I pretty much did nothing even though I was still enrolled. And this summer I finally got back and my goal was to at least try. I did 5 exams, in average I spent 10-15 hours per subect total effort even though the subjects are among the most difficult. I passed 2 of them with surprisingly decent grades but because those 2 are "bound" to other exams which I failed, in the end I have by a very tiny margin failed "all of them" and have to redo them all. This is the first time I did not get a good grade and the first time I failed exams. But it was a great experience and now I feel more motivated than ever before. I also have determined with my current therapist that working beside studying would give me the satisfaction I lack and thus help me recover. And I really really want to work. But everywhere I have to show my CV, which is an embarrassment right now. Even the ones who sent me an invitation letter via uni, which were the first and only so far I contacted, now suddenly want a CV and transcript of records with my current uni performance.

I am a good competent human, charismatic, responsible, intelligent and confident that I would make a great impression if I could meet in person. But my life is in shambles now. My only "job" experience is teaching assistant in uni. I am surrounded by hurdles. Nevertheless I am determined to get a job. How do I formulate a passable CV?

Not sure if this belongs on /biz/ or /adv/ so I will try here first.

A passable CV for what?

We need some more details about what industry you want to go into, where, and what you study.

Buy on the way down. Not that hard of a concept. Keep buying and buying and buying. When it starts appreciating keep buying and buying and buying. Only sell when you need or want the money.

if i work as a financial analyst in the reinsurance industry

is it possible to move into a bank and do more investment stuff? or even just finance stuff at the bank? like goldman/deutsche/JPM etc

Yeah of course. How long have you been an analyst? Speak to a recruiter and see what they're looking for.
>>

hi there, ty for reply

so it's a job offer i have. the only hesitance i have is that i'd much rather work for a bank in finance/investment stuff but i think this may be a good start.

also this company is fairly small and not a "large bank" so it's slightly different than what i expected to get as a job
>>
>>1500503
Get a couple of years experience and then start making your move into investment banking if that's where you want to work. A lot of people will work at a smaller firm, gain some experience wile getting their CFA/ CAIA / whatever, then move on towards a more prestigious role.

> investment stuff
> finance stuff
It sounds like you don't know exactly what you want to do, so you might as well get some experience and save some money up.
