Anon in previous thread asked about how to decrease humidity in leo tank. There's a few things:

Use tile for substrate as it does not hold any moisture (unlike paper towel)

Increase airflow in the room with a fan

Smaller water dish

Have an incandescent light on the screen top during the day 12 hours on, then off at night.

If that still doesn't do it, dehumidifier.

I am always of the 'keep it in your own yard' mentality when it comes to pets. Keep your dog in your own yard, keep your cat in your own yard. If you have neighbors who dont mind your cat going over and sitting on their lawn then that's cool, but you shouldnt risk your pet by letting them roam two blocks down into random backyards where they could be unwanted. People pay for their rent/homes and they have a right to not want your animals on their property.

Letting animals go off in fields or forests is another thing that is risky.... if it's yours they could still be killed by predators or hurt by diseases or even people coming onto your property illegally. If it's owned by someone else the animal could very well be caught in a trap or picked off by the person with a gun.

Not everyone can have a fence and fences are harder to cat-proof, but no matter what animal you have you can always harness and leash train it.

You dont know if a cat is just going to stick to the yard or if it will go further. Train the cat to stay in the yard off leash, train it to go out on a leash, or have an enclosure that is cat proof. Anything else is on your own head.

If you can't let your cat outside, do not get one. If you can but do not, kill yourself, they need exercise, and naturally are outside, My cats have lived to twenty when allowed to live outside in the country their whole life. Not allowing them outside should be considered neglect.

I worked at a lumber yard when I was younger. We would set live traps when we'd have raccoon problems. Occasionally we would catch a cat in the trap. It was handled the same way as a raccoon. Keep your shit cats inside, you shit owners.

I never just come up with a name on the spot I just keep them for a bit to see what their personality is like.
I have a father who is an art history teacher so our cats were always named with historical names that fit their personality.

Some people have found there dogs on the opposite side of the country after being missing for 10 years. It's not too late until you find a body.

Just keep checking shelters, put up posters, door knock, etc

Post on Craigslist too. Try to offer a reward, even if it's small. Most people wouldn't accept the money anyways.

I thought there might have been kittens or something in the drain.
But there was nothing in the drain that I could see, but it was late and my mobile couldn't illuminate much

Went back the next day and it was clean as a whistle :/

so I figure the pacing and meowing was just stress about being unable to get back up and hungry

I was 14ish. I lived on a lake with my parents before I moved out, and I decided to ride the Jetski in the morning (really the first time in a long time). I see something that looks like a log in the distance so I check it out.
When I got out to the middle of the lake there was a hound swimming circles.
I grabbed him by the nape and brought him home on the Jetski.
Named him Prince. I assume that a hunter just said "fuck it" and left him while on a hunt or something.

Not sure, but it might be a giant house spider(which is about the biggest bro you can have in your home), although its legs look a bit too thick for that.

I was about to say tarantula wolf spider(which is a actually the original tarantula; tarantula spiders got their name from this wolf spider), but I doubt you have them in Israel, although they are supposedly common in southern Europe.

Try to get a better pic, and it will be easier to tell.

your first guess was correct, the eye arrangement outrules any other family and Lycosidae can be found worldwide (except for the polar regions).

Spiders don't eat random chunks of meat, they eat insects. The spider is probably sucking moisture off the meat. You didn't give it any water did you?

If you can successfully keep simple species happy, you are well qualified to try something trickier. You already know what is involved with keeping appropriate temps and humidity. If the care sheets for more difficult species look doable for you then go for it. Often the difference between beginner and advanced is just smaller margin for error.

For most trantulas going from a beginner's species to an expert is easy. Like the other anon said you already got the basics down temp, humidity, and substrate. That being said you should still account for agrsssion and consider that other T.s might not be as slow or docile as a rose hair. Best advice I can give you is decide on the species you want and then read up as much as you can on it. Find out what other people do and don't do and learn from them. Don't just impulse buy (though I've been guilty of that in the past). Also consider getting spiderlings. Rasing a spider from baby to adult can be very rewarding.

I've had my B. vagans since May. First tarantula ever, got him at 2". He's now 4", a definite male (sexed him with /an/'s help), and doing just fine. Everywhere I have read says they aren't a good beginner species but honestly I haven't had a single problem. Except whenever I test his feeding response he gets pissed off.
