Should I get a beagle or a pug? I have experience with both (grandparents have 3 pugs and parents have 2 beagles). Both breeds are fairly lazy and content laying around the house which is a good thing IMO. But I am torn I have drawn the following conclusions

Pug
>+lovable ugly dogs
>+do not bark much
>+no hunting instinct or desire to chase animals
>-Horrible health
>-Wheezing noise will get on wifes nerves

Beagle
>+Decent health dog, pretty durable
>+Lazy as fuck, content sleeping all day
>-hunting instinct so they will chase animals
>-not a "unique exotic" dog like a pug

The whole running off aspect is important for me because i live on a 300 acre farm and I normally let the dogs out my back door to go to the bathroom and I have had more than one run off for hours chasing deer.

The only beagles I've ever met have been high tension as fuck, so I have no idea what you're on about, OP.

I've wanted one for the past 4 years. If someone asks me my short term life goals, this fucking rabbit breed is it.
I live in SF and landlords are complete assholes, and I want to make sure it has enough space to hop around...
I'm curious about your rabbits and I'd like some insight on rabbit care and shiet.
Yeah...
Fucking rabbits.
I love them.

Get a pen with at least 4 square meters space and 2 bunnies. Never keep them alone.

Store bought pellets and shit is all unhealthy trash. Just have hay available at all times in your cage and then feed them some vegetables and fruit two times a day.

I am also highly considering getting a Holland Lop. Are there any fruits and veggies that you shouldn't feed them? Do they like to chill on your lap or desk? How much energy do they have?
>>
>>2015767
I can definitely do that. I usually end up buying veggies I am unable to finish so it'd be perfect to split it between me and the buns

Ok /an/. My sister says if I break the cats neck, it's murder.
Cat is 15 and has bad cancer.
She says me killing other pets is murder not mercy,
WTF do I do.
Idea now is wait for quality of life to go before I break neck.
Honestly I think it's a good idea. It's worked before.
Any help?

Just take it to the fucking vet.
Or shoot it.
But just because you break something's neck does not mean it is dead.

Could it just "die in it's sleep"?

My sis has locked it in her room while she's down for christmas. Poor bugger is in renal failer. just want it to die quietly..... and cheaply.

I am thinking about volunteering at a shelter. What is it like? If you volunteered before, would you recommend it?
I am a 19 year old girl from a European country and I am currently a Dentistry undergraduate. Is volunteering at a shelter too time consuming for me? I also need to pay around 300 euros to take part in a training course before I can volunteer to get a dog training certificate at the shelter. Is it worth it?

If it's what you want to do, and think it'll benefit you and the animals, I say go for it.
I've never volunteered before, but I heard it's not exactly what you'd expect.
>>
>>2018865
>I heard it's not exactly what you'd expect
In a positive or negative way though? I mean, I don't want to volunteer at a shelter only to end up bitten by an angry dog.
Really, a lot of things in life turn out differently from what you expect.
>>
>>2018870
I can't say exactly because I work in an American shelter, but in my experience it's kinda hard to get bitten as a volunteer unless you're either a massive moron that can't read basic dog body language, or blatantly ignore the kennel staff on what a certain dog will or will not tolerate or which dogs you shouldn't try handling. when I was volunteering before I got hired (several years) I was bitten by several cats, but not any of the dogs.

but what many say when they mean "not what you expect" is that it isn't exactly all sunshine and puppy tails. depending on what area you volunteer in, there can be a lot of poop, boisterous dogs, cleaning, etc. and there are times that certain situations will make you sad (a dog you liked having to be euthanized for medical reasons, things like that). one thing that can help is volunteering at a "higher end" shelter. usually they prioritize giving the volunteers the fun jobs.

that being said, I think volunteering in a shelter is a great thing to do. it's great seeing your hard work pay off in caring for something that cannot care for itself. and something that's pretty universal in all shelters is that you will NEVER be forced to interact with an animal that you don't feel comfortable with. no one will judge you for it, it's completely normal

Should I name my dachshund Strelok or Bjorn? The dad looks like pic related, except he's black, brown, and white. Very unique looking dogs. Strelok means shooter in Ukrainian/Russian, and Bjorn obviously means bear. I'm going to train him in Russian but I'm torn because he looks like a little bear.

my thoughts, EVERY FUCKING TIME I see a documentary or some stories about people keeping wild animals as pets
(like mountain-lions, tigers, bears...):
this is suicidal!

You know how a normal housecat can cut your hands when playing with you? Just because... dickhead-animal and claws?
Imagine a big cat "playing" with you....

How many people have been killed by their "tamed" animals?
Wasn't there once a women who held an ape as pet and got her face ripped off?

People have even been killed by their pet-deers!

I wish I had a big fuzzy tiger to play with, but I am completely against removing endangered species from their habitat, especially when they are infants. I hate fucking Saudis for having such a high demand for cheetahs as pets.

Anyone else love this show? Serves people right.

/an/, I want to get a cat. What is the best way to train it into an unrepentant, vermin killing machine? I know he'll naturally seek out prey if it's there, but I want my cat to be really good at it. Can I give it bloodlust it by using practice mice? Are some breeds better hunters than others?

Or, don't do this. There are enough outdoor and/or feral cats killing birds and other wildlife
>>
>>2019642
Yeah but those feral cats don't live in my house.
>>
If you want a pet to go after rats and mice you want a terrier. Cats go after anything they can, not just pests. Don't contribute to the feral population's destruction of the ecosystem.

What do you do with them? Make hamburgers?

Today, while I was opening the door to my apartment, a stray kitten got in it before I could react. Now I can't find it.
I searched under the bed, behind the closet, etc. but still can't see it. All windows were closed.
There is a possibility that it somehow got out out the door just like it got in while I was confused about him getting in, but in case it's still here, I have two questions:
1) Is there a way to get its attention and lure it out? Smell of food and "kitty kitty" didn't work
2) Can I expect it to come out on its own? I assume he's going to meow sooner or later when it gets hungry
