New kitten, had him for a few days and looks like i'll get to keep him
Does he look like a D'Artagnan?
>>2185937
He looks like a cat (not sure which species)
sounds more like a richelieu to me
>>2186048
Richelieu isnt a bad name, not a bad name at all
What is /an/s views on some of the different types of raw food diets out there, would you feed to a pup as young as 8 weeks? Do you think it's only suitable for adult dogs? Or do you think Kibble and tripe is the best option available?
>>2185647
I feed acana and occasionally add salmon frames, chicken necks, mullet, mackeral, meaty bones etc for their teeth.
For me I dont have the budget or knowledge to feed a complete raw diet.
>>2185654
this. and also my dog loves his kibble
It's not suitable for all dogs. Some of them have sensitive stomachs and raw meat is just too rich. If you feed them a well balanced diet of quality dog food with the occasional bits thrown in as treats or to help their teeth such as bones etc your dog will be fine.
My dog was bitten by diamond rattle snake. He weighs 60 pounds and is a German Shepherd. I've been giving him benadryl. I bought some penicillin and hopes of preventing necrosis. ANY idea how much penicillin to give him? This was the snake
This is the penicillin
>>2182976
if you're committed to not taking him to the vet the best you can do is clean the wound, keep up a normal dose of antibiotics and keep an eye on him. probably best to keep him indoors until he's substantially healed.
>>2182974
First, rattlesnakes are not 100% guaranteed to deliver venom on every bit. If you are lucky it might have been a dry bite (no venom).
However, you really need to take your dog to the vet immediately for blood tests and precautionary dose of antivenin. The antihistamines and antibiotics aren't going to do the job is pupper got dosed with rattler venom.
Why do they like us?
They're known to kill larger whales, sharks and even polar bears. They'll practically kill anything in their path even for fun.
So what's so special about us?
We give them free handjobs in captivity.

They can tell, somehow, that we're smart like them
>>2179380
we're weird
Have you ever seen a home not just be infested but be it's own eco system?
>Recently move to Florida and live with friend
>Friend keeps pets like Bunnies and birds
>These attract bugs like roaches and moths
>I'm getting a free place to stay so i'm not gonna complain
>Florida is filled with lizards
>Leave window slightly open
>Over the last week I have seen a lizard go in and out of the room through the window
>Figure it just got lost in the room
>Yesterday browing 4chins
>See lizard come in
>Lizard grabs a roach and runs out of the room
>Today
>See a couple of different lizards coming into the room, grabbing bugs and running out
>They know this is now a way for an easy meal
>Don't close window because they are eating the bugs
Anyone else have a similar situation?
Also would it be a good idea to just let a few lizards loose in the room?
I mean there should be enough bugs for them to survive on.
Would this be a good idea?
Lizards need UVB light from the sun to metabolize vitamin D and absorb calcium into their bones. They'll die with out sun light. But a few days to a couple weeks without it wouldn't kill them.
>>2190697
Not all lizards need uvb. A lot of nocturnal ones, like geckos don't need it. But lizards like anoles and iguanas, yes
What kind of bugaboo is this? North east oklahoma is my area.

I'm sure you guys love these threads, but I am freaking out and would appreciate some guidance.
Girlfriend scratching and looks like two bites on her neck and shoulder. When i check the bed i find two of these bastards on top of the box spring. Turns out there are a couple more on the floor, under the bed by the wall.
I checked some vids and they are not wide or flat like beg bugs but I am no expert at what adolescents without blood might look like. A couple of sheddings were found too. So am I fucked?
Thanks for the help
>>2190517
I have them in a ziploc. Here is a better pic.
Definitely carpet bettle larva. Completely harmless unless you're made of fabric, probably the nicest infestation you can have.
Is the bed old as fuck or something? Seems odd you'd have so many there. Wash your things in hot water and vacuum daily to get rid of them. Borax sprinkled on the floor and then vacuumed also helps.
What is this creature? I found it on my floor last night. I live in rural Wisconsin near no bodies of water. It looks crab or spider like
>Snapchat
>lol am I high?!
You need to get gassed.
>>2190507
So are you saying that you don't know what it is?
>>2190508
Its a spider you fucking sperg.
What do dogs see in humans exactly?
I've already read a lot of half-assed, biased and uncitated articles telling that dogs see humans as the pack alpha and the dog needs to be put into place to be in a healthy state of mind. Others say the exact opposite, the relationship between dogs and humans has evolved to be more like human-human friend relationships. Or humans are like parents.
I'm aware that no study can give full insight since we don't even understand our own psyche, but where do I go when wanting to know more about this?
Also, what about cats? And are there any studies in friendships between dogs/cats and other animals? Other mammals, birds or even reptiles seem to be able to adapt living with them to quite some degree.
>>2190450
Beneficial alliance, probably. Kind of in the same way certain species of birds are often found with specific other species all the time. Nuthatches often tag along with chickadee flocks because, for whatever reason, chickadees are better at foraging for food than nuthatches working by themselves. That's the general idea behind the initial union of man and doggo.
With domestication now, they rely totally on our care for survival. Also, our social needs are very similar so the personalities are pretty compatible.
>>2190450
I believe also dogs were domesticated by humans by throwing food to those dogs that would get close to their camps and deemed friendly. The thought process was these dogs would keep other animals away so long as the humans fed them. And so, the evolved to have humans as a food source.
>>2190529
You know we ate dogs, right?
I'm about to eat this brehs....i feel bad for myself :/
I don't know how to say no to my family
>>2190430
Eh dogs not to bad, you're only baiting and even then the people adverse to eating are okay with eating other animals.
>>2190430
That looks gross. For your safety make sure it's well down.
>>2190431
It's not dog. It's squirrel.

how can you not tell the difference between water and dog pee
>>2190091
Not op, but the water that comes out of my window unit is tinged yellow from rust.
>>2190107
still, it's kind of unlikely that water with rust smells anything like (dog) pee
