easy.

Step 1. Build a time machine
Step 2. Spay the cat
>>
>>2193984
Sounds awful, but consider it from the perspective of the cat:
they seek the safest place in the house to give birth, and that just happened to be by your side.
You should've hidden a few boxes with blankets around the house so she can pick one to give birth in a safe and hidden place.

I only ask for a second of your time. Olaf the Berserker disappeared about a month ago after being threatened by a heartless neighbor. I suppose it could have been a coincidence. I suppose things like this happen. Or maybe it was my fault. Whatever the case may be, I just hope he is in a better place. He did no harm to anyone, and considered every person his friend. Especially children that petted him constantly on their way home while he chilled on the front of my house. I'm a little selfish to do this but I just have to move on. While struggling with a crippling depression for so long, it was him that gave me hope on an everyday basis. A friend always there to comfort me in dark days. If there is a heaven, I am sure he's there. Thank you for everything lil Olaf. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for a second of your time.

I'm very sorry for your loss OP. Olaf sounded like a very nice cat, 10/10 would pet.

When you call your cat or dog by its name, does it know that word is its name? Does it associate the word with itself, its own sense of identity?

Or does it just know the word means the equivalent of "come here" or "dinner time"?

>>
>>2193783
wow that's a talented cat
>>
>>2193783
Well, most seem to know it's some sort of call for their attention, not the same as "come here" but really, something like a name is probably a really complicated concept. I've seen dogs and cats know a word for other cats and dogs, like you tell them "Pat" and they know Pat is the other dog, but usually they just find them or point them out or something.
Neither cats nor dogs have such large parts of their brains dedicated to language like humans do, so something like a word for themselves as individuals might be something they can't get into.
I don't even know if they have a concept of themselves as individuals although I assume they do.
>>
If you have 2 dogs, will they understand that a word is used to call one of them, but not the other?

I've heard pigeons are actually pretty accessible birds. They're quiet, don't require a lot of interaction or toys, just a large cage (you can use a large dog crate), diaper changes so they don't crap everywhere and of course, lots of time outside.

You do have to keep two of them and destroy their eggs when they lay them though, and they might build random nests around your house, but it's kind of cute to have the two married pigeons and they seem to have cool personalities. Also, they're large and come in many different shapes.

>tfw your cockatiel is dead
I wasn't home when it died. I never know what happened. My parents and my older brother were at home but they just suddenly found it dead on the floor.

I recently adopted a kitten, he's been with us for three months and is currently four months old.
recently, he got lost in the neighborhood and unfortunately spent all night outside in the rain.
he was found the next day in the lobby of a nearby apartment building

question is:
it seems like it's affected him quite a bit, he's slightly more clingy and seems to shiver sporadically when he sleeps.
will he be okay, i worry some times

>>
>>2193718
Don't worry. With proper affection and rare neglections towards your kitten he will become better over time. Being patient and reassuring him in his sleep should help as well. ;D
>>
>>2193732
thanks
how do i reassure him in his sleep?
>>
>>2193735
Gently let him in his favorite spot. Also, if he's close enough, keep an arm or hand by him.

Two of these frogs live on my back door. They hide out up high at the sliding area and come out to stick to the glass to eat bugs that come near the porch light.

Sometimes when i open the door they jump in and go racing around the house. I have to chase them down and catch them
>>
>>2193706

Its really cool when you get random pets that take care of themselves and you just co-exist. Also goes to show that every animal, even amphibians have some level of understanding when it comes to trust. You put them outside and they keep coming back because they know you wont hurt them. Neat.

So I got roaches in my house thanks to filthy neighbors for the longest time and the landlord for whatever reason doesn't want to call an exterminator. Anyways, the roaches have now started going into my hedgehog's cage. I got mothballs cause I know roaches hate them but the mothballs release poison so obviously that's not ok for my hedgie. I heard bay leaves work too but will the smell hurt my hedgehograndma since he has a good sense of smell? I don't want my hedgie eating the roaches cause they can be full of bacteria and shit. What's some things I can do to keep the roaches away from my hedgie's cage without harming him? Google has been fucking useless and I know from being on this site that 4chan isn't too reliable but what the hell.

if you're in the united states, that's literally illegal

tell the landlord to hire an exterminator or you'll be seeking the services of an attorney

Redpill me on chinchillas. What are they like as pets?

>>2193578

Basically a wild squirrel that is incredibly sensitive to warm temperature. Lots of work. Not recommended unless you really REALLY love chinchillas.
>>
>>2193578
Poop a lot, require a lot of attention. But they're super soft and friendly, I'd say. The sand baths they take are fun to watch.
>>
>>2193578
Degus are less hassle yet similar & much smaller. Big personality, and the live for around 8 years!

Still shit a lot though.

Chinchillas are cool, but can be a pain in the ass

Hi there! I've had a potted palm tree bunch (parlor palm i think) for about 6 years now. I bought it at the airport in Florida on my last family vacation so im kinda attached to it.

I potted after i brought it home and then repotted for the first time at the start of the season around April. Recently i gave it some fertilizer and a good soaking and for the first time i noticed small little white critters seen in the pic. They are very hard to see but they look like very little white caterpillars. The only time ive ever brought it outside was to transplant and the soil was a new bag of miracle grow houseplant mix. Also i am located around Chicago, IL if that helps.

Can anyone help me out in identifying and prescribing a remedy so i dont lose the plant. Like i said im attached and would hate to lose it. Ive read they can last decades but idk...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

>>
Do they jump when disturbed? If so, they're just springtails.
>>
They just wiggle and crawl if disturbed. No sign of them on the stems or fronds.

Idk if they always been there amd i never noticed. It if the plant food mix and heavy watering drive them to the surface.

Should i be concerned?
