Hello mexic/an/s! I want to become a pitbull breeder. How to I begin?
0. You'll want to start off with some reading material. The Dog Breeder’s Handbook, The Dog Breeder’s Guide to Successful Breeding and Health Management, and Breeding Dogs: A Practical Guide, are all some really great reading material and good places to start.
1. You'll also need to start off understanding the breed. Spend some time researching genetic and health issues with the American Staffordshire Terrier, and understanding the problems the breed faces.
2. Join your local pitbull club! Look for clubs for the American Staffordshire Terrier in your area and start attending meetings and meeting your fellow pitbull breeders!
The next steps are BY AND FAR the most important!!
5. You'll want to go to a store and purchase a gun. Because many people like to use staffies for protection, you'll be able to desensitize them to load noises.
6. Once home, load the gun.
7. Insert the gun into your mouth.
8. Pull the trigger
Congrats, you are now a pitbull breeder!

Not all pitbull breeders are bad people. Don't be judgemental and mean.

Anon, thank you for your advice. I followed your instructions to the T, but now I have a bullet wound in my cheek :(
Hi /an/,
Can someone please help me out. I've had a 5 month old puppy for three days and feel really depressed about it. I always wanted a dog, but now that I have him I feel like I don't have any time on my own. The second problem is, that when he is very calm when we're out walking, but when he comes back to my apartment he is literally everywhere, doesn't stop going around, won't go and rest and is constantly bitting even though I tried to teach him not to. It seems as if he doesn't want to be inside (could it be because he came from a farm?).
Help me out guys, I am seriously on the verge of giving him away.
>Pic unrelated
>>2188671
Who did you get him from? Why did they sell him to you without preparing you for the responsibility?
Ah, so you're a child
There is nothing we can help you with. It sounds like you have a perfectly normal, average puppy.

This gundi has funny face.
Mourning geckos are pretty neat. Parthenogenetic species, meaning all* mourning geckos are female and reproduce without mating.
*they are apparently some males but very rare

Pitcher
I've always found sea slugs to be somewhat forgotten, despite the sheer variety of colours, patterns and shapes. They're very rare in temperate waters around here though so maybe I'm just projecting...
Can you tell whether a dog is male or female based on the dog's face alone? This post will be an experiment to test that question.
Post your guesses in this format:
>1)m
>2)f
>3)m
>4)f
>etc
I'll post the answer and results of the experiment when the thread is close to 404ing.

so in like 3 months time?
>>2187932
Most threads on page 10 are only 3 days old.
It would work better if you posted dogs from the same breed. Males typically do have a somewhat broader skull, but that's not much help if you're looking at a male greyhound and a female rottie. Neutered males typically have a slimmer, taller build as well.
Lets get a Paleoart Thread going.
2 things,1.why is it perching like that? 2.When i take it out of it's cage and put it on my lap,it stays still for a bit then starts freaking out. What is it doing?
>>2187652
Too much light, not enough hiding spots?
>>2187654
maybe it's the light thing?
I would act weird too if I lived my whole life crammed in a dirty cage with a filthy food bowl.
Guinea pigs need lots and lots of floor space and places to hide, contrary to popular belief they do not do well in cages their whole life at all

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.
Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.
Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size
-parameters
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

In response to the anon that tried to grow the java moss between a plastic mesh in his betta tank from last thread.
Given your lighting situation, I'd suggest getting a used t5 or t8 fixture, for moss it can be a very basic one.
If you check craigslist, I'm sure you could score a deal below 30 $
Also don't bury the moss in the mesh, the tight mesh will limit the light even more if the moss is stuck inbetween instead of it growing on top of the mesh.
Maybe get a nice rock or driftwood and bind the moss to it so it gets more light that way.
Another anon also used a marimo mossball as carpet by splaying it open and attaching it to a slate plate.
If you wanna get into 'real' carpeting plants, try your hand at glossostigma or marsilea hirsuta, and use a small grain substrate - beware though, that you may need to use a minor bio co2 injection for those beginner carpets to grow thick.
>>2187458
I got a T8 fixture for less than $20 new from lowes. Depending on the size you need, just get either a T5/T8 shoplight or a CFL clamp light- that's what I always do for my tanks.
Are you afraid of birds?
I'm afraid of people who really like birds.
>>2187133
Birds > mammals
I knew someone who was terrified of birds all because of the Hitchcock movie. They somehow thought real ones would attack them on sight.
Just a little curious, I have seen quite a few of them.
>>2186894
can't really make out the markings on the abdomen because it's all twisted up, but looking at the cephalothorax it looks like it might be a... brown recluse.
kidding, it looks like it's probably a wolf spider or grass spider. your location can help with identifying it.
>>2186969
Yikes. Well, this particular one was spotted in FL, but I mostly see them up in GA.
>>2186894
Oh fuck OP, if this was spotted in the southeast then you're fucked
Please red pill me on dog training.
>one site says dominance theory and dominance in dogs is total bullshit and harmful to your dog
>another site says positive trainers are causing tons of damage by ignoring dominance training and refusing to acknowledge dogs need pack leaders
>>2186639
The positive side won decisively a long time ago.
Positive-trained dogs started BTFOing traditional dominance-trained dogs at national obedience trials, and that was the death knell for dominance training, which had been based on very thin science to begin with.
Further blows were more recent studies on feral dog behavior showing they don't have dom-sub hierarchies like wolves do (the dog with the most friend in the group ends up making the decision on where to go next, not the largest or the most aggressive one), upending the central premise of dominance-based dog training.
When you say dominance has been disproven how do I express disapproval over my dogs action? So he jumps up on the counter, do i not say no in a loud firm voice? What do
>>2186655
Negative punishment (take stuff away from him or stop activities that he enjoys) instead of positive punishment (doing things to him that causes pain -- beating, choke collar, etc.)
You could put a leash on him, put him in a small room (bathroom, closet, etc. -- don't have anything the dog could play with or eat in there though), and close the door while still holding the leash, and leave it closed for about 30 seconds (keep the lights on in the room though).
He would lose visual contact with you, and all that it comes with (attention, sense of security, etc.), teaching him good things go away when he misbehaves.
If he misbehaves while playing with a toy, it's even easier to punish. Just take the toy away. Don't let him have the toy again until he offers good behaviors on his own accord.
My parents set some glue traps to catch mice, which as you probably know, are awful and inhumane and are tantamount to torture. Today I found a snake stuck to a glue trap, and I had to kill it with an airgun which created a bloody gory mess.
So, what are some ways to humanely kill mice? I don't want to set them free or anything because they'll just get back in the house, so they need to be killed instantly and painlessly.
Glue traps are a godsend. Don't waste your precious time putting the little fuckers out of their misery, just dump them in the trash. In time they will either suffocate or be crushed to death by more garbage.

Is there a bigger meme animal than crabs?
>>2185383
I fucking love them.
>>2185384
>>2185383
No
Post casual things everyone does that are in actuality bad for animals. Many people own animals but don't actually know much about them, so we get a lot of unintentional animal abuse.
I'm gonna start off with some random stuff:
>Feeding ducks bread. It's not very digestible.
>Choke chains. They... You know, choke your dog.
>Feeding your ferrets peanut butter or fruit. They're carnivores.
>Releasing their rabbits or birds 'into the wild'. 9/10 times they'll die within a month.
>Fish bowls. Fish bowls are awful.
>Hamster balls. I don't know much about hamsters, but I know they're not very good for hamsters.
One that especially bugs me are the people who keep their budgies caged 24/7. I have NEVER met anyone who lets their budgie out of their cage. People act like all you need to do with birds is give it some toys, feed it a few times a week, and change its water. No vets, no vegetables, no playing. Why even have a bird if you can't pet it? That's so boring!
>>2184992
>Feeding ducks bread. It's not very digestible.
It also does not contain many nutrients, contrary to believe bread is also bad for humans. Back in the day, we couldn't do without wheat. But if you can, I suggest to lessen your intake of wheat products.
>keeping Coldwater fish with tropical fish.
>>2184997
Some whole grain bread is okay just don't eat it every meal.
>>2185007
It is okay yea, but if you could replace it, it would be even better.
