I've also kept them. Definitely my favorite phasmids.

I'm considering trying the hobby out but I'm wondering whether it's normal for hobbyists to breed their insects?
>>
>>2184862
Yes. Insects usually have short lifespans and are easy to breed.

Yo /an/, up in the mountains near Nevada, and in a storage unit, I found what I'm pretty damn sure are some spider sheddings. Now I'm not an arachno-biologist, but to me, these look indicative of something that's not officially thriving in these parts, but plenty have been given a nasty surprise by while getting dressed or digging in wood piles up here. The meme, the legend, the brown recluse.
The container is rarely opened, cool, and very dark. and it looks like whatever it is is eating well on smaller spiders and the occasional enterprising wasp/hornet/whatever looking for a nesting area
The pic is a collage of all the pictures of the shedding's, I have the full pics too. Just let me know since connection is spotty as fuck up here. It's easier just to upload as much and quickly at once as needed. Before anyone asks, had to lock it up for the owners, don't have the keys, so this is it.
Just want to know if it's possible it's a recluse's home, or if it's likely something else.
Thanks in advance.

Pic related, it's facehugger.

What are the chances of me ever petting one these guys? They're in my lawn every day. This poor bastard walks with a limp, and all I want to do is give him a hug and tell him I love him.

How badly do you want to have your shit pushed in by a deer anon? Because that's what will happen to you if it doesn't run.
>>
This isn't a Disney movie, any undomesticated animal (sometimes even if it is domesticated) that's injured and you approach will either 1.Run 2.Fuck your shit up. Bad idea, OP.

Fucking frogs keep shitting all over my front door every night. I clean it off each morning, and lo, more foul splatter on the lock and handle. Sometimes when I leave in the morning, they jump off the door and skitter into the house, and I have to leave them because I can't hunt for a fucking frog before work.

Share stories of animals that regularly fuck with you.

Neighbors have outdoor cats and it sets a squirrel barking off for hours outside my place.

A mocking bird that never shuts the fuck up. It mimics car alarms a lot. It does this for about 12 hours a day and night.
>>
Skunks. I live in an apartment complex and one of the buildings is full of indians. They leave food out for squirrels and birds. But at night rats come and skunks. Then the same retarded cat comes and scares the skunk and sprays. It's a strong headache inducing smell and I have to close all windows.

Daily reminder that pigeons used to rule the Earth (and still do) when they used to be gigantic gods of the air and were the most powerful hunters. See that T-Rex? It was actually a pigeon.

Hello /an/, /k/ here looking at getting a Nile monitor this isn't my first time with lizards or dangerous animals and i was wondering if y'all could give me advice on caring for them and what to look out for. Any help is welcomed thank you!
4 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
no you're being dumb
>>
Why something so big? There are other monitors and lizards with similar personality but smaller, not nearly so expensive to house and feed. Niles are also semi-aquatic and require a large water feature in their enclosure. Amd arboreal too, so housing has to be pretty tall.

This is really not a practical animal to keep in a house.

I'm guessing he wants to use it as a guard lizard for when the gun grabbers come.
Pretty good idea if his state doesn't allow crocodilians, but a stupid endeavor regardless.
OP if your lizard wont attack you then it wont attack intruders, and despite having scales it's not bullet proof unless it's a croc or gator.
I don't think there's a single gun defense pet you can own without some sort of wildlife permit or some shit that is better than a dog. And we know how that goes.

Oh, and if it's not for the obvious, then as linked post said, there are much better monitor lizards out there.

Should I plant my mint cuttings right away in wet soil or should I keep them in water until they sprout roots?

>>
Are you using a rooting hormone?
>>
>>2184474
No, plain water.
>>
>>2184472
aerated water until they have roots
rockwool cubes work well, you may need to soak them overnight before using if they havent been ph adjusted
wet soil can work, but the above methods are more efficient
