Hey /an/, yesterday I was mowing the lawn as usual, and when I was done, I noticed a little fucker on my ankle. Pic of the little shit.
Can someone identify the little shit, and please help me know if I should be aware that I am now allergic to red meat? I don't think it is a Lone Star Tick, but I would like to hear other people's inputs.
Thanks,
Anon.

Do you see a lone star there?

It's most likely a dog tick.
>>
Well, they both are common and I thought it might be a Lone Star Tick due to the white mark on the back, but I think I do agree with you know that I think about it
>>
>>2186718

That has kind of white mark on it's back. I've seen a tick with the star once and it was pretty distinctive.

Go to a doc.

How do I get a cat to stop yowling and scratching at the floor at night?

She'll walk around the house making a loud yowling noise for hours. She also will pick a corner - usually the corner of my door - and act like she's trying to dig through the floor. I've tried flashing her with my dick but she doesn't seem to mind so idk how effective that is at getting her to stop.

If I make a loud noise or throw something (like a sock, not a brick or anything hard) at her, that'll make her scurry off and stop for a bit. I feel like that can't be the most effective way. Wut do?

You have to tuck it bro. Shove that shit between your thighs and when that cat realizes you're in fact an ugly woman it will chill out.

Common 'smartweed' Polygonum sp. or a genus close to that.

My 2 year old cat just poops too much, I change his litter box every single time he poops. He also farts a lot. While his poop is not abnormal looking, he just poops maybe 5-6 times a day. The vet recommended probiotics, and even suggested regular unsweetened yogurt.
The litter we buy just won't mask the smell. I'm not expecting a litter brand to mask the smell completely, but something that won't make my whole house stink. Already tried baking soda and it doesn't work.

You are giving him the wrong kind of food, and in too big amounts.

Also, just get the clumping litter-stuff

Also, open a goddamn window, cat poop smells awful even if it is swiftly covered

Whatever made that isn't a bro. We have Caterpillars here in Wisconsin that make those on trees. Extremely dangerous for trees. Burn the fuckers, OP.

So my dog has been picking up his bowl(stainless steel) and running around and chewing on it. Is this normal? He is a Wheaten Terrier, 8 Yrs old. He does this with both his water bowl and sometimes food bowl, anyone else see this happen? Pic related, my dog

>is this normal?
Yes. Dogs eat and drink from these bowls, so they consider them "thiers" to do with as they please. If my dog wants to get my attention that her water bowl is empty she throws her stainless bowl around my tile kitchen. Literally picks it up with her mouth, throws her head back and let's go. Then she stands in the kitchen and looks at me. Bossy little bitch.
>>
>>2186494
Is there anything I can do about this? I have to keep him in the backyard rn and the bowl repeatedly falls into the pool, and I'm worried for his teeth.
>>
>>2186495
>I have to keep him in the backyard
Assuming the dog is just not crying out for attention, it could just be playful. Put some better chew toys out for it, and regular exercises and socialization to correct bad behavior.

So /an/, I know someone who doesn't have the time or energy to walk her dog, and it chews up all of her things out of boredom. I am aware of dog treadmills, but they are too bulky and too expensive for this person. I know there must be some dog lovers here with an idea that will save poor dogger from a life of apathy and boredom. If it matters, the dog is quite large and very energetic, and it's also still quite young.

Just walk your damn dog you lazy fucker. Exercise, mental stimulation and interaction with the outside world are absolute necessities for dogs, if a person can't accept that then they shouldn't be allowed to own one.

So when I came home this evening a cat was at my door.

>pet cat
>cat headbutts me, purrs, back arched, tail up, clearly begging for food
>he's absolutely mad throwing himself at me
>my own cat watches ominously from the window.
>open the door to get in, stranger cat immediately rushes in front of me into the house which pisses off my cat
>horrible cat fight ensues
>separate them, put stranger cat outside, put my cat in the bedroom.
>cat desperately wants back in
>i decide to leave some food
>cat attacks the food and devours it, ive never seen a cat eat so fast
>wants more

after leaving some more food and water out I come back inside and hope it goes back home.

>5 hours later
>cat is still there, taunting my cat
>wants more food, wants into the house

At this point I'm worried this cat is legit lost and starved. He is definitely a house cat, and hopefully chipped. I live in Norway and it's cold out so I caved in and let it inside in a separate room, provided some make shift litter box, food and water.

He's restless if let alone, but if I'm with him he goes to sleep in my lap while purring. He looks younger than 1 year old and very friendly and affectionate. I've decided to let him stay the night and take him to a vet in the morning to scan for a chip.

Have I done the right thing? Or have I abducted someone's cat? Where I come from people don't let their cats out but I just moved to the country side and this is normal here so I'm not sure whether I should just have left it.

If he is not chipped I plan on dropping him at a small local cat shelter, where he is likely to be adopted.

pic is intruder. he doesn't stay still long enough to take a better pic.

That's the best decision. Alternatively, find someone who's looking to own a cat and give it to them (if not chipped, obviously).

Quick question about cats.

If a cat is infected with rabies, what's the incubation period until it becomes contagious?

Asking cause I got this kitten from a in-outdoors cat and have had him for over a month and a half. He scratches me regularly and hasn't shown any symptoms yet. I wanna vaccinate him but am paranoid of missing the symptoms of he suddenly shows them while vaccinated.

>>
You can't get rabies from scratches.

Also: Google.
>>
>>2185998
Googled it and nothing about incubation in cats. And she bites me too, not lately but bit me a few times.
>>
>>2186008
>The average incubation period of rabies in cats is two months but may vary from two weeks to several months or even more, depending on the dose of virus transmitted and the severity and site of the wound.

How hard is it to type "incubation cats rabies" into google?

Green cheek conure or a cockatiel(a pair?), /an/?

I had a cockatiel for about 17 years growing up but other than her just chilling on me whistling to me and kisses, conures seem more interactive. I would say Quaker parrots would be an option but sometimes I move around in places where its illegal and I wouldn't want to lose it. I also have experience with cockatoos and small macaws(not mine, just bird sitting) but I want a silly bird friend as much as I think larger parrots look neat but my requirements are being playful/interactive and unbearably loud forever like cockatoos are.

Conurs are loud, cockatiels are perfection in bird form
>>
>>2185994

Conures are massively fucking expensive. Around 500$ to a thousand dollars.

Get a Cockatiel, they're only 100$-150$.
>>
>>2186023
>>2186032
I know sun conures are loud(my cousins is oddly not but I assume he is just a minority). Ive known a lot of green cheeks and they don't seem too loud. They were little darlings. Maybe I should specifiy that I don't mind noise. I've been around a lot of birds. Noise is fine but what you would get from a cockatoo, large macaw, etc all the time is not. My own cockatiel was very noisy since she picked up the neighbors dog barking, but it wasn't 'neighbors down the street complaining loud'.

I don't mean to be difficult but I really do have to commit to what I get since I plan to have it for their life expectancy. Price is also not an issue to me at all, be it the bird or accessories. Both are cheap to me if not just for their lifespans alone.
I only owned the one cockatiel and haven't known many, as opposed to conures but are they just as silly and playful as conures?

I often offer my parents to walk their dogs because they never do, but they always try to stop me because it's too hot outside.

>you put on a fur coat and walk around and see how you feel, anon!

It's only 82 degrees out now though. I suspect maybe that they're just bad owners, but maybe there is something to giving walks for dogs that I don't know. Ideally I've read that you should walk your dogs 1-3 times a day but they usually don't ever, but let them roam in a huge backyard. For reference my family owns

>two siberian huskies
>one long-hair dotson
>one bijon / poodle / terrier mutt

So how hot is "too hot" for these dogs? Who is in the wrong?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
What I do before I walk my dog in the summer is try to take her early mornings or late afternoons when the sidewalk isn't too hot. What you do is place the back of your hand on the sidewalk and attempt to hold it there for 15 seconds. If you have to pull your hand off before then, it's too hot for your dog to be walked outside. You wouldn't want their paws to be burnt.
>>
Fur on animals acts as insulation against the heat as well. Your parents sound like the kind of owners that shave their double coated dog in order to "cool them down"
>>
As a general rule, if it is too hot for you, it is too hot for a dog. If you want a quick test, put your palm against the sidewalk. If it hurts you to have it there for more than a few seconds, it is too hot. But that is more of a concern in places this are 90+
