Hello /an,

I bought these two plants several months ago. I take care of them, sometimes feed them and stuff.

For several weeks now the right one has seen its ends become brown, and the second one seems to rot.

what did I do wrong? Any idea/suggestion?

Lack of sunlight
- I exposed them to full sunlight

Wrong water
- Tap water, totally drinkable here... :(

Rotten substrate
- I should change it? Other plants seem to grow in it

Why do you own animals if you cannot afford to take them to a vet?

why do you have to be a fag, also the majority of chickens never get treated let alone a vet

Theres a fucking mouse in my room. It was under my bed and then i found it on the side of the bed touching the wall, like a foot from where i lay my head. I can't sleep in there until i kill the fucker. Whats my best option? I'm buying snap traps tomorrow, i have some poison in my cupboard but its pretty old, should i still use it? Also i downloaded a couple ultrasonic repellent apps for my phone, hoping i could scare it out. Haven't tried it yet.

if the little fuckers arent donig anything bad just cover all holes from walls, next to pipes etc; to stop thme from getting in.

Mice aren't dangerous, theyre just little shits that can chew on things.
Your need to kill it is basically you being a pussy and afraid of a little being that is literally just trying to survive and stumbled upon you.

Until you find large concentrations of shit and piss you shoudln't worry, but if you do make sure to do anything possible to make them gtfo, preferably without killing them.

If you can catch them there is literally 0 need to kill them, unless you can't make a trip over to a part to let them run loose.

Stop being a pussy, it's a mouse, it wont do shit to you until tens of them shit and piss possibly being a threat because of the Hantavirus.

So what do people think our relationships with animals will be in the future?

I've heard about Lions hunting people in Africa, bears entering cities more regularly, coyotes population exploding and children dying in few cases, Tigers killing hundreds of thousands in india.

Obviously we are not just going to destroy any animal that can hurt us. Although I expect population control hunting to become even bigger than it is now.

I would think with the advancements of technology in the next few decades that is not crazy to see cities/suburbs being walled off completely.

What do yall think?

Thats absolutely insane and not something that would ever happen ever. Do you have any idea how obnoxious and expensive that would be? to stop what? A bear occasionally knocking over a trashcan?

There were guys in France a few years back testing small prototypes, can't find the story though. They did a TED talk.

Mosquitos kill 3 million people a year and nobody cares about gators until it's your kids that got eaten. (Florida resident here)

Yes, but thats a fancy novelty thing in an extremely rich country for the exclusive sake of climate control. Not to prevent feral animals from wandering in and murdering people.

my sis and i noticed our cat had a piece of poo stuck on him (he was scooting), so she grabbed him and i was gonna pluck his dingle berry...

i tugged a little bit thinking it'd just snap off, but my cat dashed from my sister's arms, and another poo popped out. so first poo had a hidden conjoined twin...

will he be ok? i'm afraid accidentally pulling his other poo out for him might've wrecked his rectum or something... he's acting like his normal self now though.

For instance, periodical cicadas. What the fuck? They spend 13-17 years underground doing nothing, then they emerge in billions and live for only like two weeks before making more larvae to burrow and live motionless underground for another 13-17 years.

What is the point? It's a feast for lucky predators but most won't live long enough to experience it. And the adult cycle is so short. I just don't understand the evolution here.

>I just don't understand the evolution here.

Evolution's only goal is to create things which stay alive long enough to reproduce. It does not matter if the life is rich, or even filled with horrors.
>>
What is actually strange is why these take so long to mature when other cicada species come out every year.
>>
>And the adult cycle is so short.

Isn't this for a good chunk of insects? A lot of moths, butterflies(depending on the species adults may live only two days), pretty much any cool large beetle, etc.

Felids are one of the few carnivores that are actually pretty much exclusively meat eaters.
Most canids, marten species and bears add fruit and nuts to their diet: felids not.
So while I detest cats it is pretty rare yea.

Hold me, /an/, the local neighborhood friendly stray cat disappeared.

>everyday
>for last year
>leave house
>cat would come out from around neighbor's fence
>let's call him Panterito, cuz he's thin and black
>would always drop to the ground and roll around, nothing but friendly
>every fucking day
>the same cute act
>and it would fucking work
>would serve him kibble every day
>he ate it all
>come home one day (today)
>work days had gotten longer and I haven't had time to think about anything other than school and work
>Dad talks to me out of nowhere
>"Panterito's dead"
>What?
>"He's dead. I haven't seen him around for 5 days"
>he's right
>go outside
>shake cup of kibble super loud
>he doesn't turn the corner

Pic related is him last November hamming it up when I went out to show my new car to my grandma.

But in no way would i ever spend that much for a dog.

No, vegans would have you eat it raw. Afterall why shouldn't we throw away the greatest hominid invention of ~500 thousand years old - cooking - that allowed us to rise above the animal kingdom by giving us more nutrients from food, protection from parasites and bacteria.

It's not like vegans eat their veggies cooked. Oh no heavens forbid. It's much better to be malnourished. We should get rid of domesticated plants too, as they are unnatural. It's much better to chew on nightshades that still have neurotoxins in them :^)

That's what so great about vegans. They are intelligent, not at all delusional people who spread an inherently flawed and potentially fatal ideology around, shaming others who don't conform to their ideals and morals. Vegans are awesome :^)

ITT: Tips about owning a parakeet.

I really want a parakeet but before I get one I want to know all that I should about training, proper care taking and how to keep it happy.

I'm confused on what I am supposed to even train a parakeet to do and how I would do it
44 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
do NOT get one from petco/petsmart if you can help it. they're adults, they'e used to a flock, they'll be hard to train. some people breed parakeets so check craigslist/google for your area.

you can find all the generic how to train the birb from googling. random shit that doesn't come up:

- no round cages, it makes them feel trapped
- feed it seed primarily. no pellets at all they're shit. also give it scraps of veggies, they love those.
- parakeets are flock animals, they'll go nuts if you never interact with them. if you're gone all day think about getting him a companion after he's trained.
-don't ever get those textured perches for claws. fucks up their feet. also do not cook on teflon pans around them. certain foods like avocado are poisonous to them
-give him cuttlebone (for beak) and a nutrient block to scrape
>>
>>2184136
>feed it seed primarily, no pellets at all

What? If you fed your budgie a seed diet, don't expect it to live very long. Seed does not contain the vitamins and other good stuff that a parakeet needs to be healthy. All it does is taste good, so it's the equivalent of giving your child nothing but Snickers for every meal.
>>
>>2184136
Thank you for the info, will the parakeet learn to poop in its cage like how a cat does for a litter box or will it just shit anywhere it feels like?

there are a couple anons and a tripfag here who lost close family members to outdoor cats.

one was orphaned by outdoor cats and became the outdoor cat fighting hero of dutch gotham.

it's a long story. Something about an outdoor cat shanking his mother in an alley while he cried and pleaded for mercy.
