i guess i never really worried about relating with my exs. im 23 now and most of my partners up til now have been between 27 and 32 years old. we never had to relate about life experiences cuz we could still talk about them. i think thats important in general. i think its the reason homosexuals throw bitch fits. they act like they can only relate to gay characters.

You ask outright what's the problem. Ask her to be honest because you're concerned. I don't know you or your friend but it might be she'd like you to initiate conversation more often. Doing all the work all the time sucks and is discouraging so she could have decided to cut contact for a while or even permanently.

Of course the above is all assumption. There are many other reasons that come to mind but you won't know for sure which one unless you ask.

Not sure why she'd ignore me in that case. Granted, it was Christmas eve and towards the evening, so she might have had dinner/mass (she's from a fairly traditional Portuguese family).

What I don't want to happen is what I've done in the past: an otherwise good friend is busy or can't respond, I freak out and get all "WHERE ARE YOU M8 WTF HAPPENED AM I BEING AN ASS?" and it gets off putting and the think I'm too needy so they distance themselves.

Should I just try contacting her a few more times at reasonable intervals, and if she doesn't seem to care use that as the measure that she's not worth keeping around?

I've got family, I enjoy spending time with them. Right now I don't really have any big goals, straight out of highschool I had a bunch. But the real world kinda made most of them very distant. I joined the Marine Corps to serve my country, I won't say I regret joining. But the Corps is very different than I had imagined it being. And lastly, I am not exactly sure. When I was young people used to make fun of me a lot, for no apparent reason. I look in the mirror today, and I see a perfectly healthy 19 year old male who isn't bad looking at all. But in the deepest parts of my mind, I can feel something telling me I'm inferior. To what? I'm not sure. Everybody, I guess. I don't know why.

Well there ain't much advice to give except move on, unfortunately. She's made up her mind. Preoccupy yourself in the mean time. Get busy with hobbies or the gym or some shit. Seek to improve yourself. Be the hero of your own movie. Is the hero going to sit there like a sad sack of shit over his ex or is he gonna improve himself so the next time they run into each other again she'll thing about how much she missed out on? But by that point you'll already be over it and with someone who won't leave.

College is a great experience. Well so far. I'm a Junior right now and it's been a nice ride. obviously there's a lot of time that needs to be devoted to studying, lest you want to see yourself in a mcdonalds after graduation, but you can hang out with friends whenever and being able to live in your own apartment with your friend is pretty fucking great

Talk more. Its that simple. Practice makes perfect. Also, don't over think whatever conversation you're having. That's probably why you're blanking out. You're trying to come up with the "perfect" thing to say, but you should really just speak your mind(i.e. just say what ever comes to mind). I used to do that when trying to change subjects. I would try to think of some transitional statement, as if talking were some kind of essay where a transition is required. It's not. You can literally throw out random ideas at someone you're talking to and they usually won't question it unless they wanted to keep on the same subject. Keep this in mind if your topic runs dry.

If holding a conversation in person is really too hard for you, play online team-based multiplayer games. Just say random shit/comment about the game("that was a sick kill", "this map sucks", "I'M UNSTOPPABLE!") to you're teammates as you're playing. When you express an opinion on something proceed to explain why, even if no one asked. Some will ignore you, some will mute you, but others will banter along with you. Try to pick a game that doesn't really require you to think as you're playing either. I recommend pretty much any COD.

Listen, OP. People that aren't interested in you but talk to you because of reasons won't want to hear your opinions and thoughts. You're just not that interesting/important to them.

Wanna know why? It's because they're the most important person in their life. Whether you're social or not, people will want to talk about themselves, so if you become a smooth mirror, people will think you're pleasant to be around.

What is a smooth mirror? Well, it's not smooth in its surface, 'cause this is a metaphor; and it reflects any questions directed at you, to them.

If you smoothly direct their question to them, then they're gonna be happy. People don't give a shit about you, but they know that it takes two to tango, so if someone asks you what you love to eat, chances are they're thinking of their favourite thing to eat.

Combine your effective way of deflecting things back to them (smile, look calm and interested, bob your head, ask them what their opinion is etc) with observational skills that read what the other person is feeling, and you'll be very pleasant to be around in no time.

Protip: If you fail to deliver something, don't give up and say "EHHHHHHHH UMMM", instead, try to keep your head strong and don't lose too much face.
