Hey /vr/, what kind of capture equipment would you recommend for recording older games?
The device I have now looms like shit for anything PS2 era or older.
>>3903732
Anything with an s-video input. Component if you can.
Recording with composite will look like shit, end of story.

Framemeister into Elgato HD60
>>3903732
an VCR of course, then port it to CD and put on your computer for the best retro experience
Just started playing Mother 1, so far loving the visuals and music.
Is the grinding really that excessive? Should I use the easy ring that comes with the translation to avoid retarded amounts of grind or can I play it fine without it?
the grinding isn't as bad as people make it out to be. you only really need to grind when you get a new party member (because they always start at level 1), and the game gives you access to Magicant very early on, which is an easy place to grind anyway
Grinding isn't my problem with M1 (at least until Mt. Itoi)
What really bothers me is the ridiculous encounter rate, but I guess that comes with the territory when playing a JRPG on NES
party members join at level 1
the pompadour guy is quite powerful despite that

I just played a beat-em-up game for the first time since I was like 12. (Knights of the Round).
It sucked dick. Was repetitive, only 3-4 movies, all the characters are the same. It was boring.. I wanted to stop. Feels terrible. I remember I loved this game so much as a kid, now I just feel like a fool.
>>3903303
You're not supposed to play them alone.
>>3903303
You're a pleb who got his ass handed to him and has to blame the game for his low i.q and logical abilities, try playing the game properly and you might see what's so good about it.
>>3903303
Haven't played Knights of the Round, but yeah, some belts can be hit or miss. I just watched it and it doesn't have many enemies onscreen while the mechanics are also pretty standard.
I'd say go with Streets of Rage 2 if you haven't played it before, I feel it's one of the best all-around good belts. Final Fight if you like crowd control. For the rest see chart.
Is Zelda II Shadow of Night a good game/romhack? Original Adventure of Link was kind of lacking.
Anyone who has played it, does it change much? Is there less useless shit are more useful shit now?
>>3903190
it changes the overworld map, the sidescroll levels, small tweaks to monster AI, different magic spell.
it's very hard; it has intelligently placed monster layouts maximizing the frustration LOL
Isn't this the one that replaces all the town dialogue with autistic Pokemon jokes?
I can't recommend any of the hacks I've seen for Zelda II. They redo maps to make them artificially difficult for the sake of being difficult.

>Isn't this the one that replaces all the town dialogue with autistic Pokemon jokes?
No?
>I can't recommend any of the hacks I've seen for Zelda II. They redo maps to make them artificially difficult for the sake of being difficult.
Well, you don't seem to know much about the topic as it seems anyway, option discarded
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
Oh, and flaming swords are pretty dope, too.

So.... what happened?
Did your balls just... drop off suddenly?
>>3902608
Rastan is pretty cool. I dig the art and that first level theme.
How do you git gud with this game? I'm generally pretty skilled, but this game makes me its bitch.
Why does everyone hate this game again? It's not as good as the original but its still pretty damn fun.
I only hate it because when I was playing it for the first time, I wiped a booger on the floor, or I thought I did. Way later that day I was laying in bed and found that same booger on my balls. Everyone called me booger sack for the rest of my fucking life, thanks OP
Damn, that was the only Spiderman game I ever had.
It had so many extras, like costumes, music, videos, etc.
The Lizard boss was bullshit though.

This has been my experience with the 2nd PlayStation Spiderman game too

Because PC gaming is small and linux gaming is microscopic

Not true, there was a 0.02% increase in Linux gaming on Steam in the last month. Windows gaming is over.
What are some older PC games I can play coop online with my friend? We cant really play anything modern because he is using a crappy laptop
>>3902334
unreal 1's single player campaign can be played co-op.
>>3902358
Id like to play something that isnt FPS as we play fps all the time.

Blizzard games WC3 and before.
I find myself jumping back and forth between admiring and enjoying this game to outright hating it for being completely broken. What're your thoughts on what might simultaneously be the Best and Worst Elder Scrolls title?
>>3902215
Hi, I recently started playing this. I agree that it is an intriguing nightmare. I have yet to finish even a single dungeon. I keep wondering, as I play it, how in the world anyone could ever have accepted it at the time. It's cool in various ways (probably including many that I have yet to experience), but it just seems to hate being played.
And like how hard would it have been to find a person with a better voice to do the "VENGEANCE" thing.
>>3902230
--I mean my frickin dad could do it better, probably a lot of people's dads could. Did the development team just not have dads? Maybe that was the fundamental problem undermining this game.
>>3902230
>I have yet to finish even a single dungeon
Not even the tutorial dungeon?
Reminder that Revision is happening on April 14th to 17th.
Last year we had shout out in few demos so I hope some of you guys will be in the irc room this year and the mandatory /g/ thread.

Yes well DICE is putting some money into it and more new people show up every year which is good.
I don't like the control over everything though it used to be more casual.

No. You've got use make lewd NEC art to be cool.
no
in fact, you are less cool now than you were before
Why does late era Sega Genesis packaging/box art get so much flack? I honestly don't see the problem with this template...
Aesthetically pleasing but just like any other carboard box for a game it makes it harder to find complete copies; especially ones in good condition. Not only that but the clamshells just look nice lined up on a shelf as well
>>3901647
Cardboard boxes, really. That's pretty much it.
Sega had to package Sonic and Knuckles in a cardboard box because of its odd-shaped cartridge, but after that they decided to just package every game in cardboard thereafter. Cardboard is WAY less durable than Plastic, and most kids(including myself) would just rip the cases open, so they're much harder to find for games which had them than ones which had the more durable, plastic cases from before the release of Sonic and Knuckles.
