But the enemies are endless and spawn randomly from both sides of the screen. Raw memorization and muscle memory doesn't help much in this case.

memnorisation as in you should be prepared for anything, even rng, know the game extremely well. that's the key for any 1cc, but i'd say older games are more strict with that.

don't play the World or US roms, as they tinker with the enemy spawns to more or less make the game unwinnable (ie, unwinnable without forced quarter infusion at regular intervals). In the original Japanese version you actually have a fighting chance.
