Let's have a good old /bmw/ thread once more.
To start off, I got a Renown 130R Motorsport Competition that I'll install in a few days.
If anyone is in need of a wheel, I highly recommend Renown. Wonderful quality and sharp looks.
I'm fitting it on a Momo 2008 hub.
Everybody—googlecarfag, davis, dodek, heartbreaker, GS400guy, et al.—get in here!
Gotta change that ricer air filter, i know.
Is buying a car/bike with a seized engine ever worth it? There's a Honda Shadow near me for $150, but I've never torn down a motor before and don't know if it's worth the time and effort.
>ask mechanic how much it would be for a rebuild
>Take cost
>Add cost of bike
>Compare to buying a functioning bike
>???
>Profit!
>>17090479
>doesn't know that motorcycles are best option for learn2wrench besides lawnmowers and weedwackers
>doesn't know if he gets it working he could easily sell it for $1500
if you have a dry place to keep it sounds like easy money
>>17090479
>fill with penetrating oil
>tap tap tap
>wiggle wiggle
>repeat until engine spins
might take a few hours to a few weeks worth of free time
I live in Euro-no-fun-zone and here you get taxed for car weight and gas is insanely pricey.
So I need a lightweight shitbox, with good mpg, which is reliable. Preferably a sedan.
Currently rocking a 460 shitbox (only 995 kg), but it's dying slowly.
What do you recommend besides moving out of this shit hole?
>>17136423
I know it's not a sedan, but
>sub-900kg
>500-1000 eurobucks
>drinks next to no fuel
>stupidly simple, almost nothing to break
>when it breaks parts cost as good as nothing anyway
>versatile as fuck interior
>>17136433
I'm literally open to anything but a Twinko

90s civic or corolla
You are transported back to 1960's, Japan.
You have nothing except your clothes, and you do not speak Japanese.
Your task is to propel Japanese Auto-Industry 57 years ahead of their competition.
What do you do?
I would break into a meeting at nissan HQ with a handmade dolphin that you hang from your rearview mirror and it smells nice and be like "gentlemen here is your answer"

Make Toyota Great Again
Nuke Renault.
Then nuke China
Why are car paint jobs so expensive?
Because they're a shitton of work.
Try some DIY work and you will quickly learn.
>disassemble car
>sand all painted surfaces
>buy gallons of paint
>buy gallons of primer
>buy gallons of clearcoat
>mix it perfectly so its the color you want
>spray all painted surfaces with primer
>2-5 coats
>spray paint color(s) you want
>2-5 coats
>spray clearcoat
>2-3 coats
>bake in oven
>sand and repeat if wanted
>reassemble car
You guys think I can get an 08 corvette working 5 days a week (8 hours a day) and getting paid 13 the hour? Should I consider getting a 2nd job?
Just drop a fire mixtape and get a record deal
>>17135960
>corvette
>13 an hour
What the fuck are you on OP? Because it must be some good shit.
>>17135968
You're right, I shall do that
>Race costs 100,000 to enter
> Isn't even a "race"
I want to participate in a road race where people want to win instead of party at expensive hotels and do lines of blow off tranny hooker's dicks. Real prize money, real race, no legal paperwork, no 100,000 dollar entry fee, coast to coast.
>>17135109
>want to race on the road
>going over the speed limit is illegal
What did he mean by this?
Make your own, I'll come.
Ill go if you guys set it up and we do it for the fastest time possible coast to coast.

Was looking at the Toyota Corolla but I need some non-shill opinions before I drop my life savings on a car.
Pic not really related, but since it's here, do you think a 90s Corvette is shit for reliability or what?
92+ manual only
before that they are garbage
>>17134350
post your local craigslist.
a civilian crown vic or a grand marquis they are safe as long you don’t get t-boned.
Does /o/ like the chebby volt?

If you had to pick between a 2004 mustang cobra or a 2016 mustang premium, which one would you pick? They both have their pros and cons but I'm leaning toward the cobra for the tires. But finding one stock seems pretty much impossible
>>17133761
The premium of course.
>willingly buying a 18yr old car for 20+k
It's like you don't like money or something.
I actually give a shit about safety so the new one.
Also dat new car smell/warranty/not looking like a poorfag to normies
Is premium a V8?
Do you pick your nose in your car? Where do you put the boogers?
My mouth.
I usually roll them up and drop them in my ash tray.
If those are liquid, on the seat, mostly down there. If those are kinda hard, i roll them around and drop them on the carpet.
Can any car guys help me out? I bought an impala that has cost way too much already and only needs more repairs. I can't decide to sell it or continue to pour money in. It has a private sale value of around 4-5k, and a trade-in value of 3-4k. I bought it for 4k even, tax dealer fees and all, and have since put in 2k worth of repairs and maintenance. After having it inspected it still needs about 2k more in work. It's a 2007 3.9l with just over 68k on it, used to be a security car so it has lots of idle time on it. So if I sell it I eat 2k or so. If I keep it I will have put double it's value into it, but might be able to drive it for another 130k if it makes it to 200k. Then again it's engine/trans could blow tomorrow from all the idling. And even if it does last, it's 8k+ for a car that has meh specs and is 10 years old. Just looking for a new perspective on the situation, can't decide to go for the long haul, or to sell it and buy a piece of shit until I can afford an expensive car or take my chances putting all my money into another used car.
>>17133057
It really depends on you...I'm sort of in a similar situation, where I have a 2005 Silverado that I need to finish up. However I bought it private, I'm doing all the work, the milage is low 212k, and I only payed $2000, so for me it's a no brainer...
I will keep on with the project...you on the other hand, depends on what you can do yourself, your resources (cash monies and shit you need to get the work done)...
What needs to be done thats going to cost $2k more in work?
I know next to nothing about cars and have just very basic tools, so unless it involves duct tape I can't fix much. It needs an evaporative purge solenoid, HVAAC actuator for the heat to switch to AC, tire pressure sensor, both front brake roters, has holes in the mufflers of both tail pipes, needs a new power steering rack and pinion, and has a very minor seepage of the rear seal. Also has a few engine issues and noises that need more time and money to investigate than I have at the moment.
>>17133401
Buy some tools. Learn to wrench. Purge valve should be easy. Hvac might might be easy but also might not. Brake rotors are easy. Exhaust should be easy. The oil leak might be the valve cover gasket. Buy 100-300 bucks in tools and buy parts online. It's time to become a man.
Is it worth buying one?
for your house?
no
just open a shop if you're this dedicated.
Yes, absolutely
It's just so much more efficient and less troublesome
>>17132640
Yes. I'm waiting for a nice garage to put on ein.
