A POG, huh? OK, try to imagine yourself in the Gulf War Period. You get your first look at this "POG" as you enter a bombed out highway. He moves like an operator, lightly, bobbing his head. And you keep still because you think that maybe his visual acuity is based on movement like Marcinko - he'll lose you if you don't move. But no, not Vining. You stare at him, and he just stares right back. And that's when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side, from the other two DELTA you didn't even know were there. Because DELTA a pack hunter, you see, he uses coordinated attack patterns and he is out in force today. And he slashes at you with this... A 7in Ka-Bar, like a razor. He doesn't bother to shoot your jugular like a Ranger, say... no no. He slashes at you here, or here... Or maybe across the belly, spilling your intestines. The point is, you are alive when they start to eat you. So you know, try to show a little respect.

Against bullets, even if you get shot in the face and you don't die, chances are you'll get knocked out.

Looking at a 742 carbine in 308 for $350. In great condition with a decent Burris scope. I know it doesn't group great but it'd be for deer hunting at no further than 200yds. Let me hear some opinions.

No way my man.

The Remington 742 has no spare parts, and it is a very poor design that frequently breaks. It's one of Remington's poorer designs, and a used 700 would be infinitely better.

/K/ommandos, where can I find more of this ammo online? Every damn website I find selling it has it out of stock and it works perfectly for my 1943 issued Turkish Mauser. Anyone got any leads?

Surplus ammo is effectively gone. There is some rather cheap new production steel cased ammo that runs anywhere from 40-60 cpr out there but I have not heard anything too good about it.

Your best option if you want to shoot any 8x57 Mauser is to reload your own ammo. That is what I do, but I fully admit it is not for everybody.

all surplus ammo has dried up pretty much, there is none left.

Hey /k/ I don't want to be a knife fag, but I thought this was pretty interesting. I was researching a knife that I inherited from my great-grandfather. Apparently it's a standard issue knife for soldiers who fought in WWII. I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on the quality of this knife, and if it's actually an antique. I can always take more pics for further detail.

I'd give him $3k for everything. He's high as shit.

Local pawn shop has had one of those Thompson's for six months and can't get rid of it for $1000 OTD. And they've got more mags with it than what he's showing.

MP5 isn't worth that, SCAR isn't worth that, none of that shit is worth what he's asking, especially for someone who wants to "sell a collection". More like he's playing pretend FFL by masquerading as a collector.
>>
>>34713925
The whole thing is overpriced. If a gun has been fired its not new anymore its used. Dude is charging new or above new prices for used guns.
>>
>>34713950
>>34713952
I knew the SCAR was way over and some of the handguns, but I wasn't sure about the MP5 and the Thompson since I've never priced them or dealt with them. Also, I have no intention to get anything from him, I just saw the collection and wanted to see what you guys thought.

(I know the picture is a little out of date....)

I know that there are a lot of dissenting voices about the composition of the US Navy and how it spends money and research.

Given that we have a lot of armchair admirals around here. I am curious to know some of the conjecture on how to meet the same objectives of the US Navy with a different force.

Those needs being, the ability to project power across the whole world relatively quickly, be able to win a fight against any other nation in any sphere, while deterring any other actor in any other sphere.

The rules for developing this "new" navy are as follows:
1. Use current militarized deployed tech only (IE no railguns or high energy lasers (an exception for LaWS or similar mid power laser) or even electro-chemical guns, or similar 'near future' but not yet deployed and militarized tech).

2. Must be able to maintain tech superiority and project power in a comparable fashion to the current navy (for example, saying: "replace the whole fleet with 50 Iowa class BBs" is not going to be able to project power in a comparable fashion to the current Navy because the main armament of Iowa's are 16" guns with unacceptably short range and 50 ships, by themselves, would not be able to project power to cover the entirety of the worlds oceans).

3. Money and resources are limited and should be comparable to current expenditures. Attempts should be made to account for this, a little more money than is currently spent on the navy would be acceptable provided it can be justified.(Example, saying: "100 Ford Class carriers is the fleet" is simply not justifiable or affordable. But saying, "the fleet is 300 Arleigh Burk destroyers" is probably affordable but may or may not be justifiable.)

OP here.
Personally, I would like to see a return of frigates and nuclear cruisers. So go from 12 to 5 or 6 super carriers and make up the difference in the budget with a new FG class that would cost not more than 1.2 billion each. Then I would eliminate conventional cruisers and replace them at about a 2/3's ratio with with updated modern nuclear powered cruisers (although, tonnage wise, it would be almost a 1 to 1 replacement) at a cost not to exceed 3.5 billion each. Then I would keep the rest of the surface fleet pretty well the same (I might consider doing something about LCS).

The sub force, I would do whatever it takes to cut the price of the Columbia class in half or replace it with something that costs about half of what they are projected to cost. I would also, immediately pursue a replacement and improvement to the Virginia class with something more in line with the Yasen class or similar firepower-wise.

Anyone have any experience with the C308? I ordered one last week from Classic for $430 after rebate. Seemed like too good of a deal to pass up, even though it's a Century.

What I want to know is if a surplus G3 lower assembly can go on this gun. I did a lot of searching and I'm getting a good mix of both yes and no without a definite answer. I'm not familiar with what "clipped and pinned" means or if the lower needs to be to go on this rifle.

Anyone have experience with this?

>Be in the mall
>Have no weapon
>SUDDENLY ACTIVE SHOOTERS BEGIN THEIR KILLING SPREE!
>Follow run, hide, fight doctrine
>Due to drastic situation, you have to fight
>You somehow win and eliminate one shooter
>Other is taking down other part of the mall and you can still hear him shooting

What's the best course of action in such a situation? If you pick up a gun, you maximize your chances against another active shooter in case if you encounter him. However, the response team will most likely take down any armed individual they encounter - so in another way, it's lowering your chances of survival. What is the optimal choice?

>However, the response team will most likely take down any armed individual they encounter

So what? It takes 0.2 seconds to drop a firearm and 5-10 minutes for first responders to arrive.

Why would I not want a gun?
>>
My goal is to survive, not be a fucking hero. I have no connection to any of these people. I will not go out of my way to risk my life to save others.

If I'm forced to fight one shooter and do not have to fight the other, I won't.
>>
>>34766586

Because all the first responders know is there is someone shooting up the mall. They roll up, see you holding dead guys gun. Who do you think they're gonna target.

You run after you take the first guy out.

Hey /k/ went to a antique gun show in Kansas City yesterday
Walked out with a Winchester 1897
Serial number dates it's manufacture to 1911
Action is tight, stock in great shape, finish is decent for a 106 year old shotgun
This isn't a 97 trenchgun, those were chopped down a bit and had a heatguard and bayonet
But I'm happy to have a shotgun that devastated the Germans to point of protesting it's use and claiming it illegal
Also you can hold down the trigger and slam fire these beasts
Haggled to $450
How did I do?

>Air-to-ground or air-to-air missiles have one thing in common — they have a seeker head, or targeting system on the missile that uses radar or heat-seeking technology to find and lead the weapon to the target to destroy it. The Russian defense industry says it will deploy powerful lasers on its new sixth-generation fighter that will be able to “burn” enemy homing systems on projectiles fired in their direction, to make them unable to hit a target.

>“We already have laser protection systems installed on aircraft and helicopters, and now we are talking about developments in the field of powered lasers that will be able to physically destroy attacking missiles’ homing heads. … Roughly speaking, we’ll be able to burn out ‘the eyes’ of missiles that ‘look at us.’ Naturally, such systems will be installed on sixth-generation aircraft as well,” said the Adviser to the First Deputy CEO of Radio-Electronic Technologies Group (KRET) Vladimir Mikheyev, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

>Drone technology is also a high priority for the Russian defense industry. Manned aircraft flying alongside swarms of unmanned drones is a concept being developed on both sides of the Atlantic.

>“One drone in a formation flight will carry microwave weapons, including guided electronic munitions while another drone will carry radio-electronic suppression and destruction means, and a third UAV will be armed with a set of standard weaponry. Each specific task is solved by different armaments,” Mr. Mikheyev added.

>Microwave weapons will complement the laser components on manned aircraft also.
