What would a completely original mint condition WW2 era (1945ish) Mauser K98 with unit ensignias and everything sell for today?
Assuming all parts are completely original and in complete working order, how much could you sell one for?
Also, general WW2 rifles thread.
Is there even anything wrong with this gun? This shit is godlike, only the Brown Bess Musket has been produced as long as this has.
Literally the best bolt-action rifle ever made.
It is the current year and people are STILL making rifles out of this bolt

The Germans didn't use unit markings by the time the Kar.98k went into service. They were only marked by branch of service: Kreigsmarine, Heer, and Luftwaffe. There are some Kar.98k manufactured for Waffen-SS contract that have SS-only acceptance marks, but not really anything more distinctive.

Hey /k/,
I noticed on my Polish AKMS that the rear sight seem to be twisted to the right in relation to my front sights and the gas cover. Later today I'm going to take all the furniture off and really get a good look at it. From what I've seen the barrel could have been installed correctly or there may be some other problem.
Had anyone seen this before? I don't know of a good AK gunsmith anywhere near me (South GA), so I'm afraid I might be on my own..I'm doing research on it but I'm coming here for any constructive input on causes or solutions.

not really. they're pinned in place, and if the pin hole is off kilter, that's just where it's staying. Just try to move your front sight to compensate for it, or get one of those aperture rear sights that goes on the back of the receiver.

I'm interested in a Remington ACR, would it be a better choice for 200-1000 yard range combat? Should I choose it over my AR10 or AR15?
Is it a better choice over my 300BLK?

ACR is chambered in 5.56 nato. Your m855 round will go subsonic around 800 yds. If you know your hold overs, you can make consistent hits on a man sized target out to 600+ with. The round will destabilise drastically once it goes sub sonic. Also, the light weight of the bullet will be affected greatly by crosswinds.
Ar10 chambered in 7.62x51 will give you better but not great ballistic coefficient. It will stay supersonic past 1000 yds and is almost 3x the grain weight.
300blk was designed to be shot suppressed with subsonic ammo and it is generally considered to be a 0-200yd round.
There are other caliber options that would work better for your needs like 6.5cm. Do some research.

Trondheim is sadly not a great place to buy military surplus. Not after 'Armybutikken' closed down. You have two options. The army has a surplus store at Fremo Leir which is a few miles south of Trondheim. Trouble is they open their doors only a few times per year - the last was in May. Considering what I hear from resellers they might not even open that place again because they rather destroy it. Something like that, which sucks.
Your other option is Rustkammeret,. which is the Army museum. They have three floor of really nice displays and on the ground floor they have a kiosk where they sell some surplus items by archaic methods. Cash only and you get the receipt written by a guy with an awl and a hammer. Forget about uniform purchases but you might find a few other items - and good books. I rarely visit without buying something. But again, it might not be open right now.
