Is there a functional difference between eating 2000 calories a day vs eating say 3500 calories one day and 500 the next? Aside from pain from overeating one day and hunger the next, of course

Some people would perceive themselves as having more energy on the 3500 calorie day for example (and so this could be used as a training day), and perhaps going as low as 500 cals a day might decrease performance since it's so damn low, there is IN GENERAL not a difference.

A more practical example is people who eat like 2500 on non training days, and 3500 on training days compared to 3000 all the time. That typically will not make a difference.

It's more useful to think about total caloric intake on a weekly basis rather than daily.

I'll start by asking if you think my current plan is a good idea:
I've been doing 5x5 for half a year now, I'm at .5/1/1.5/2 pl8ing, so halfway to 1/2/3/4. I have about 20%bf.

I want to
-Cut for the summer
-Employ hypertrophy to increase my size

My plan is to maintain my current PRs, but instead of 5x5, I want to get them to 3x10.
After compounds, I will do Flys for chest, and ab crunches - both 3x10. I will go to the gym every 2 days, like I have been for the past 5 months. I will take creatine, protein, zinc, niacin and fish oil supplements as I have been, but will eat at a caloric deficit instead of over-eating.

Is this a good idea? Will things work out in my favour?

Sounds good. Work in some low reps occasionally, like 4-6 weeks of 3x10s then 2 weeks of 3x5s and a week of 3x3s then test 1RMs, rinse, repeat.
Always cut to abs, bulk til they go away, rinse, repeat

Just had a nice workout with my dumbbells and kettlebells in my apartment. Skipped my Uni classes today because I hate them and still have Bs - Cs in all of them. Just stayed home and watched movies and played vidya instead.

Who here had a problem with smoking weed and stopped?

This is my only vice, I know it's bad for me (makes me awkward and depressed) but somehow I always get sucked back into it, and since its relatively mild I can always justify it to myself. Any success stories from people who stopped?

I usually do low volume, high weight lifts. But after a few months the same routine gets boring. So I like to switch it up with running a high volume, low weight routine for a month or so.

I always hit the compound lifts, but swap out the accessories when I get bored, or I think I need to concentrate on a different muscle.

And when I get really bored, since I have a home gym, I reorganize it, changing the direction the squat rack faces, swapping out posters, changing the lighting, etc.

The key to lifting is not so much which routine you do, but being consistent with it. But at the same time, it's important to not become so routine that it no longer is fun.
