Ok guys I would like to have a very serious moment here with you all.
So I'll jump right into it. I know that I'm just a stupid puny human and everything i amount to in life will be a fool's folly once i greet death, so I want to make contact with something, someone, anything; i don't care. Do any of you have knowledge about or seen any sort of specs for summoning anything i can talk to directly or indirectly.
I don't have much to offer, and i have no negative intentions. I just want to know wether or not i can achieve something greater than myself or my physical realm.
I don't know if this will even make sense to you guys but I've been here since the pool was closed and I've always loved the comical stupidity here. Would one of you be willing to help me out i can record results if given ample knowledge
Are you the magic radio guy?
If so I like you, but leave.
There is a certain numerical sequence i know which, assuming you execute correctly with an appropriate incantation, will summon a good spirit to your home. Said spirit will appear at your door within 20-30 bearing the gift of pizza. Please prepare to offer money beforehand to please the spirit.

what the fuck is it? looks like a thermal switch that can be wired normally open or normally closed - so what do you need?
Yea, its an industrial thermostat, but I'm not really good with electrics and I'd rather not bliw up my shed...
>>1111463
Its an industrial thermostat. Basically, one end goes in a socket and the other in a heater. This goes in between to regulate the temperature. Thing is, I'm not really good with electrics
Any super simple mods for ultra cheap mics?
Picked up a bm-800 for $14 before Christmas and wanted to mod it. I thought about just swapping the capsule but I'm not sure what would be cheap yet high quality.
Not sure if changing the circuitry would be beneficial either, but I'd like to do something simple in that end.
Suggestions?
The best place to get quality mic parts is from a quality microphone. At which point, you should just buy a nice mic if you need it. Between the transducer and the transmitter, there isn't much you can do.
Btw, a quick google seems to show that you bought a shit mic with a bagillion fake reviews.
>>1111390
It's an electret microphone, you'd need to make a few electronics mod to use it with condenser capsule.
Also it seems piss poor for use with a soundcard. Seems designed for at least 12V power, seeing as it has a 9.1V zener based linear regulator. Soundcards only provide 5V.
http://audioimprov.com/AudioImprov/Mics/Entries/2015/12/20_Modding_a_BM-800_Mic.html
The amplification circuit they use isn't really bad. Non-linear as fuck (doesn't matter) but noise should be okay, apart from the dodgy linear regulator.
>>1111443
PS. I guess it might be possible that there is active circuitry in the 3.5 jack to XLR cable to create sufficient phantom power.
Okay I'm building a little wood table. 30 inches tall, a span of 4 feet. the aprons are 3 inches tall. I don't intend on filling the glass tank with water, but lets assume the tank will be filled with water for maximum potential weight we have 417 pounds of weight, including the glass of the tank itself so lets assume an easy 450lbs.
I'm worried about the "tipping" factor with the table on the left in the picture. it tipping forwards or backwards because the span on the outside corners of the legs are only 12 inches.
the picture on the right, it is longer by being 16 inches.
I tried to search the internet for aquarium stands DIY'd but lots of them look really over engineered as hell. and very bulky.
I just have a dog and cats and I don't want them running into the legs and causing a possible tip. [again not filling it with water, so its gonna be much lighter then 450lbs]
would you all say the smaller one was okay/better to go with?
>>1111312
at least double or triple the leg thickness and do a frame near the bottom or middle for stiffness
>>1111314
Frame around where? the shorter side? or the long side?
like this?
I work at a granite shop and need to build something to collect all the runoff that the saw makes. Right now when I power wash the floor and have it running into a little trench that I dug a while back but its a pain in the ass to clean up. Any ideas diy?
>>1111114
Make a trench that is wide enough for a shovel to fit and scrape it out.
The debris your cutting makes is so fine and results in a slurry it would be hard to seperate out the solids from the liquids, in any cost effective way.
I mean you could have the trench drain to into a collection cart. Let the mix settle out, then drain off the water fraction an leave the rest.
Or collect all the run off. Boil off the water and be left with the silt to do with as you please.
Or use a serries of sluses and felt like hobby gold miners uss.
Or a serries of mesh screed settling tanks .
But if all your truing to do is collect and dispose of runn off. Your current system sounds fine , if laborious

I dont mind cleaning it Im more worried about osha paying us a visit and having a conniption fit if they see all the waste going off into the ground, should have mentioned that in the op

Trying to figure out what model this Soldering Iron is. Need to replace the tip, but can't seem to find it. At this point I'm just looking for a model number, etc. Inb4 Hurr durr Radioshack.
The tip itself. Unfortunately I don't have the soldering iron on hand, I'm searching as a favor for a new friend. He helped my better half an I by treating us to a meal. It was charity, the least I could do in response is try to find a replacement for him.
The closest on Radioshacks site is a 1-Millimeter Conical Replacement Tip for Cat. 6402188 It's obviously not it, but I'm under the impression they no longer make this model or parts. That hasn't stopped me from hoping to find something on Amazon, etc. Just need the model number, etc. My last resort will be asking him directly for the model number, but I'm trying do this without him knowing as a gift if you will. Thoughts?

>>1110735
It doesn't matter. I redid my kitchen floors with tile, and stupidly put excess grout from the sponge down the sink. It hardened over 2 weeks. I used a stick of openbuilds rail to chisel the shit out from like 4 feet back, because the clog was in the drain in the wall. Shit sucks. Learned a lesson.

Hello /diy/nosaurs,
Me and my bro would like to start our own radio station.
if there are any experienced people over here that know the subject.
so how should we go about it . what kind of legal things should we consider , what are approximate costs of it , we have our own place so thats not a problem, what would you recommend as an acoustic isolation. i was told that rockwool would be the best.
>Are Shure sm7b-s acceptable microphones for broadcasting?
>Is there any way to do it without paying others to broadcast aka using our own transmitter, is it even legal ?
>how much would running one approximately cost a month?
>Post your pics , stories , anything useful basically
this is an insane idea. you gotta go through your nation's govt, it takes years - if ever, thousands of pages of documentation, and radio is in decline: in Norway they're shutting down all FM stations, and other nations will follow suit.
meanwhile, on the internet, you can get a piece of software and be broadcasting in hours without even asking anyone's permission.
>>1110513
We are in a third world so that wouldnt be as hard in terms of government issues.
Do you have any experience in fm radio broadcasting? If so any tips?
if you're in the badlands, just order an FM transmitter kit from the US: it's essentially one transmitter -- 10 to 100W as you see fit -- and an antenna. hook up a little mixer with MIC and AUX inputs and you're good to go. you need to find a hill for better transmission.
i used to know of a source of FM transmitters but it's been 10 years since i've looked. i'm sure google knows some.
Hi /diy/
/out/doorsman here who just bought this sword blade. I usually carve pipes but thought I'd try transferring the skill to attempt hilting a sword.
The bolt on the bottom of this piece is 6mm metric I will tighten a nut sandwiching my guard handle and pommel tight and secure ( in theory)
I have designed a handle and intend to make it from wood ( as is the shop bought one)
My question is, with limited access to a block of steel how could I contruct a pommel. Perhaps layering thick washers then filing them into shape? Layering sheet metal pieces and doing the same? Modifying a door handle lmao? Any suggestions appreciated.
>tldr how to make a pommel
>inb4 become a blacksmith
Lost wax casting.
https://youtu.be/8c2xiKFLnYY
Bronze casting is so much easier than smithing.
Watch a few of his videos, they are great.
>>1110445
You could weld those layers together theoretically and then grind it to look solid it should be strong enough for your purpose. But why not get a solid piece of steel, too hard to work with?
>I usually carve pipes
I'm sorry that this is offtopic but...
I want to carve my own pipe and preferably like a churchwarden. The bowl is not what troubles my thinking but the stem. I'd like to keep this rather cheap so making my own stem is what I'd like to do. So how do you drill a very long stem with short drills? Could I technically just slowly grind out the bore or would it be reasonable to make it out of two pieces and glue them together?
Follow-up-question:
Is it anywhere near legal to smoke blank weed with said pipe and still smoke tobacco with it? I could imagine a little marijuana taste would be nice but I've never smoked pipe so I don't know.
>>1110470
I would look pretty inconsistent to have a steel blade with a bronze or copper pommel... and the pommel would be rather weak. No pommelthrowing for OP than.
Lab equipment thread.
Right now I'm working on building a magnetic stirrer hot plate.
>>1110410
Does anyone know how I can build the magnetic component, without having it destroyed by the heat? The heat has been destroying the magnetism
>>1110413
Big magnet with high curie point, relatively far away from the heating element. Or just a magnet with high curie point, if your maximum temperature is reasonable.
>>1110413
More insulation with a stronger magnet. Pic related is a screenshot from one of nurdrage's videos on his hot plate stirrers. Hope this helps
