Time to move.
>>
>>1111096
Okay, but moving isnt an option. Removal tips?
>>
>>1111101
Burn the house down
>>
>>1111101
Call a contractor and tell them the situation have them give you a quote. Don't fuck around with asbestos on your own, man.
>>
>>1111101
Stop disturbing it and creating murder dust. Get someone who knows what they're doing to get it removed.

Dress to impress and start bagging
Option 2 is to not fuck with it and just let it be
>>
Thanks for the input, I have a contractor friend coming to look at it. I have only found it in one area of the house, is there a way to test for the presence of this stuff without tearing into anymore walls
>>
>>1111105
This may be the best option.

It looks like your walls are really tight, and that it just completely covers pipes and everything else down in there.

To remove that, the walls may have to come out completely. I'd look into government programs in your state or something. Have it condemned and get your insurance money.

Truly, words to live by.
>>
>>1111087
you know how you hear about people who find old jewellery and valuable shit in furniture and house walls?

you know how you hear about someone finding a bag of money while they were walking or people winning the lotto twice?

they're the people who got lucky in this life, probably won't hear from the majority of them after they buy their dream house and dream life.

you know how you hear about the mum and dad investors who lose everything with some dodgy investment shit? Or the guy whos house disappears into a sinkhole?

that's you, one of the unlucky ones, chances are this will redirect your whole life into trying to recover from the life changing amount of money you've put into this house being lost, the ill effects of possibly breathing that shit in and the next two decades getting back to a point of breaking even. problem is you'll be an old bastard by then.

you lucked out kid, better luck next life
>>
>>1111087
if i were you i'd get a respirator and hazmat suit. try to seal up that crap you've disturbed already and recover the wall. run a vacuum cleaner over everything in the room 5 times and then hope i didn't breathe enough in to die.
>>
>>1111087
eat it, if you die its a asbestos
>>
the stuff crumbles into dust if stepped on, pretty sure friable asbestos.
>>
>>1111111
very nice digits
>>
>>1111111
I could have gotten this, but I was busy shaving a giant copper sphere on a lathe.
>>
>>1111163
wtf, this was the cheapest of a few investment houses, with minimal investment so far. But I will give your life changing story some very deep, serious thought.
>>
>>1111111
The "asbestos is safe" meme has officially been squashed with this get.
Call a pro!
>>
When was the house built? That will give a general idea of if it is asbestos. Should've had that checked from the start, you may be screwed but if you are... Be on the lookout for those asbestos and mesothelioma commercials and write down the number.

Good luck.
>>
>>1111122
>This may be the best option.
except asbestos is fire proof - that is/was one of it's main uses (in addition to insulation).
>>
>>1111105
Can't, too much asbestos.
>>
>>1111283
but on more serious note... do you need to pull out or change those pipes in any way? if not just seal it all back up - its called "encapsulation" - its what the pros do (they don't always automatically remove everything). as long as its encapsulated its not a danger. its only danger when its disturbed and air born and you breath it in. even then a one time exposure during a rehab project doesn't mean instant death. the ones who develop symptoms and maybe eventually die are people who worked day in and day for decades in conditions that expose them to it and they didn't take any precautions - i.e. shipyards/construction and the mines themselves - asbestos is a natural mineral that comes from the ground - it is mined. if you get a spray bottle of water and wet it down that will keep it from becoming air born while your wall is open. if its not air born it can't harm you.

It's very hard to tell if something is asbestos or not just by looking at it, it needs to be analyzed in a lab. But until then, evacuate the damn house and close off the perimeter, if it really is asbestos you'd already have been exposed to somethin' fierce. Pray it turns out to be glass fiber or stone wool insulation because asbestos is serious stuff.

Have a professional company test it.
Asbestos won't burn if you put a torch to it.
But really, like the others say. "Don't fuck with it."

I really hope you are wearing a respirator.
And I mean a NIOSH/MSA certified one. The paper masks don't count. Wet your cloths down with soapy water, and dispose of them. Bag them, bag the bag..

Don't hobbyshop that shit.

Good luck anon. I worked for a year in the removal industry and we had to treat it like chem warfare agents.

If you seal it off and keep it in the wall it is safe. The problems start when you move it around and inhale the micro fibers.

its hard to sleep at night knowing the asbestos boogey man is watching you though

Stop being a pussy, get suited up with proper respirators keep it damp and rip it out ,or pay a contractor to do the same thing but charge the earth.
