Sounds like you're using too much flour. When you measure the flour, are you packing it down into the measuring cup? If so, don't. That can give you like 25% more flour per unit of volume than loosely spooning it into the measuring cup.

I had Mexican friends as a kid and ate chile lime crickets once. Pretty decent. My middle school biology teacher once brought fried mealworms and crickets to school once, too. I've had a few of those shitty lollipops with the scorpions and crickets in them or whatever, ages ago.

Tastes good, as long as you don't use too much sugar. Sometimes I like to have a cup of coffee with milk and sugar as a dessert, or tea with milk and honey. It's nice. Usually just a teaspoon of sugar or honey in a big cup of coffee or tea.
