It's Dragon Force for the Saturn, anon.
>>
>>2926889
Its addicting and a good RPG for the Saturn. Thought Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III, or Grandia are the more popular choices

You can play doom with keyboard aiming. Or a bunch of roguelikes if you're looking for plenty of depth

Any of the early Sierra adventures that used the AGI game engine. Also pinball games.

Can anyone tell me a fair price for a Sega CD? I have been hunting for a little over a week, and all the ebay listings I try to bid on become so over priced. I have also hunted around my city, but haven't found one place that has a working unit. It's starting to become very frustrating.

My best friends came together and bought me Snatcher for my 30th birthday. I'm dying to play it on the original hardware.

You might be able to find one that doesn't turn on for cheap, just needs a quick picp fuse replacement
>>
Wow OP, nice gift.

Ebay seems resolute about 100 bucks. I got really lucky a few weeks ago and got the whole shebang (Gen/CD/32X) for 105. If you know any stores around you with competitive pricing then get in touch with them, maybe they can hook you up.

Also I might recommend getting some CD-Rs, they're a real help with SCD.

I don't play Fallout 2. Can someone explain what he is doing wrong?

You can just avoid the fight by stealing the key from the guy. Talking your way out can also work if you're character is build that way.
Fighting only really works when you've specialized in unarmed or melee and even then you shouldn't do aimed attacks.
The temple of trials isn't great design but you won't have trouble if you don't play like a retard.
>>
>>2922986
Well, he's aiming at the head with a 22% chance to hit and seems incapable of doing anything else.
He's doing everything wrong.
>>
>>2922986
There are at least 4 ways I can think of right now to get past that part. He's a boneheaded moron who went full DSP trying to do the same thing over and over again and not learning anything from his mistakes.

Are these any good? They're like 40 dollars each, so I want to make sure they're good before I go and buy them.
At first, I wanted to buy an SNES, but then I realized I wouldn't be able to afford the games. After that, it was an SFC, but once again, the games are too expensive (they're cheap in-store, but I don't live in Japan, unfortunately)
If they're not good, I guess I'll just get an SFC.

Thanks in advance.

I got the Buffalo SNES pad for like $12 and have no complaints, but then again I've only had it for 6 months. Either way, I imagine the SFC controller would work great.
>>
>>2921173
SFC controllers are not 40 bucks, what are you talking about?

And the colored buttons are cool, but honestly I prefer the regular american controller. Why? Because the jap version has a cord that's like 1 foot long. So when I play my SFC, I have to either sit really close or pull the console out from under the TV stand.

This weekend I went to a big Arcade show with 500+ pinball machines, and it was fucking amazing. Every era of the game from the 60s onward was well represented, and everything was in great shape.

Talk about your favorite pinball machines, and if the thread is popular, i'll share some more pictures I took.

I've had this pinball machine in my basement for nearly 17 years now, it's still absolutely amazing (not to mention you get to solve a murder mystery while playing it).

Finally bagged myself a Saturn and this game and hot damn I've been missing out. After I got past the initial "oh god what is happening" stage of figuring out how to play, I think I fell in love. Everything about this game is so unique and has that 90s Sega flavour in spades, from the satisfying sound effects when you fly through ring after ring to the gorgeous soundtrack. Really makes me yearn for when Sega were back in their prime.
The saturn's draw distance leaves something to be desired but this is easily one of Sega's best.

How does /vr/ feel about Nights?

I have question about hooking up a Famicom to a digital TV. I know that the unit cannot be connected directly to the TV, but to an analog proxy such as a VCR. My problem is my room is really small, so I don't have the room to place an enormous VCR deck among all my game systems. Is there anything else smaller than a VCR that I can use to connect the RF switch to?

>>2927353
Try a smaller vcr.
>>
>>2927353
Yeah, an RF demodulator (note, NOT a modulator) Be aware that they tend to be rather uncheap.

Or you could get your hands on an RF2703 chip and build a circuit around it. Cheap but time consuming / impossible depending on your power level.
>>
>>2927395
this. All forms available. Plus a VCR and tapes are quite retro themselves, it adds to the feel ..

What are the oldest and newest games we're allowed to discuss on /vr/?

Pinball's allowed, so we can go back at least to the 1930s.

That would probably be homebrew/romhacks for /vr/ consoles. Unless you are talking about official releases. The last PSX game came out in 2006(according to wikipedia), the last N64 game in 2002, and the last Dreamcast games came out around 2004-2005. Since the GBC was discontinued in 2003 since the GBA was already on the scene, I figure the last game made for the GBC was somewhere around that time period as well.
>>
>>2927174
I know Shantae was the last major release for GBC in North America.

I think the last games were a random soccer and Powderpuff Girls cash-in game.

What's wrong with the Gamecube version?

Also, is the "easy" difficulty too easy or is it a fluke? I wanna introduce this game to my kids and not have them throwing the controllers like I did.

Haven't seen VGA slamming on here in a bit so here you go. VGA graded a repro of an unreleased game as an authentic prototype.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-ATARI-800-XL-XE-SUPER-PAC-MAN-PROTOTYPE-GAME-CARTRIDGE-VGA-NG-CERTIFICATE-/141834394587?hash=item2105fd1bdb:g:7voAAOSwAKxWUPC9

>>
>>2925832
I'm not sure where you are getting your info from, but there is no reason to infer that is a reproduction cart. Please point out to me how this is anything but a prototype cart. Also being that it is a prototype is the reason why it's so expensive.
>>
>>2925832
It would be nice if you could back up your claim OP.

That being said, VGA does kind of suck. Sealing a game in an acrylic case like some kind of art piece is the stupidest thing you could do to it, and instantly drops its value to $0 for me. I buy games so I can play with them (and read the manuals), not so they can sit in permanent stasis on my shelf. I also don't care about factory sealed games at all, because again, I'm just going to have to tear the shrinkwrap off to play it. I do like my game boxes to be in general good condition, though.
