My theory about NES games: only two main buttons and not too much storage space so games get right to the damn point, but they still have different levels and endings and stuff, so it's the right balance

Super Russian Roulette
New ZAPPER-Based game for NES. Will be optimised for both NTSC and PAL (separate versions).
Does not require a CRT! It mostly just uses the trigger, there are a couple of things you can shoot onscreen, but you can press a button on regular controller to activate those things if using a non-CRT.
It is a Kickstarter project. It has surpassed it's funding goal by almost 4x. So it's happening.
Over 4 mins of speech! Full screen sprites!
Currently 1 megabyte (yes MEGAbyte) of PRG ROM, and 128 kilobytes of CHR ROM. Custom mapper.
If this thing hits $80000, the CHR ROM will be bumped to 256 kilobytes and the animations will be improved.
Is that the largest game for the NES? Can't be far off.
This won't run on any flashcart. If you want it, you have to get the real thing.
At time of writing there is less than 21 hours to go. $2400 from reaching the $80000 stretch goal of upgrading the CHR ROM.

I've already backed it. Seems cool. I have the Famicom Gun which looks like a real revolver, too. I asked the dev for a Famicom-native version but he said there isn't enough interest. Fair enough, I can either get a cart converter or a controller converter.

The first time I encountered him, I tried using X instead of Zero. X had no good special weapons, so with the blaster he was impossible. FUN, but impossible. I still want to try beating him with X just his buster.

the most fun part of FF7 is arguably just exploring the town and dungeon screens and playing minigames and solving puzzles and shit. they packed a heck of a lot of stuff into those areas.
if it had a fixed number of encounters that occur at specific points on each screen that would probably make it a lot better.

Man, so I finished the PSP port of Star Ocean 2 today. I had been playing it for awhile and I have to say everything about it really blew me away and I got super immersed in the story and character building, definitely left me wanting more. I had always had the PSX version growing up but never bothered playing it. The addition of voice acting in this one (I played it undubbed) really made it for me.
I heard 3 and 4 weren't very good, would you recommend them or would I just be let down? I know the series doesn't go on direct continuity, the only character in 1 and 2 appearing in both was Ronyx and I never played the first one either. Is 3 worth playing through or would I just be let down?
Also Star Ocean general I guess.
