Hey /tg/ what's that one setting that you always wanted to play but couldn't because no one else in their right mind would join? We all have that one pet setting that we ourselves know is too weeb, autistic, or just plain stupid to suggest, but want to run anyways.
I'll start
>Tales From the Riverbank
>>53909949
You mean The Wind in the Willows, right? RIGHT?
I've always wanted to play a fun RANCE game but it's far too rapey even for fatguys.
>>53910292
OP here, I meant what I said, but this looks so incredibly comfy. Im going to have to look into this.
Also, what else is there in Rance besides booty plundering?
>>53909949
Star Trek. Because three of us are huge Trekkies, and the rest aren't, so they'd just be along for the ride while we nerd out with each other. Though, given that we can easily spend hours talking about the show, I really want to give it a shot with just those two guys. If we're going to talk about it anyway, we might as well throw a few dice while we're at it.
We got the UR god.
Frayed Sanity
Enchantment - Curse
Enchant player
At the beginning of each end step, enchanted player puts the top X cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard, where X is the total number of cards drawn this turn.
>>53909853
>relic of progenitus is now too strong for standard.
Why does wotc hate fun?
Would you be friends with this /tg/?
>>53909694
That depends, I suppose, on how friendly this weird orrery is to me.
>>53909694
I mean, is he a dick?
If so, probably not. Otherwise, yeah!
>Lawful Evil Villain
>is defeated by hero using the power of friendship
>manages to get away but has nothing
>learns how to use power of friendship
>begins new plan to conquer the world using friendship and zombies
Will they still ping as evil? Or does the friendship make them neutral?
>>53909336
But this'd require them making genuine friends with people who are okay with zombies. Otherwise they couldn't keep the zombies around, lest they lose the power of friendship.
If they did find such people, then the power of friendship (good) and zombies (evil) will cancel each other out and average on neutral.
>>53909336
kinda reminds me of BNHA where a group of villains is using the power of friendship and the hero turns it against them to win
>>53909336
Friendship isn't inherently good. Bad people can have friends.
Whats worse, a GM that describes too little or describes too much?
too little. too much is obnoxious, too little just leads you being blind sided
>>53909126
Too much is incomprehensible. At least with too little, you can get through the game faster or ask for more clarity.
Too little. I'd rather have a clear but needlessly detailed idea of what's going on than hardly an idea at all.
>The empire is haunted by monsters.
>You must create an order of monster hunters
>Landscape, population and size is idendic to canada..
>Technology is 15th century.
How would you do it?
>>53908923
Recruit as many native americans i can find
>>53908966
Then when they all die, take their wives and their land as my own.
>>53908923
Fuck the monsters. If we've learnt anything from media it's that monsters will always be hunted by a hybrid.

What kind of cool stuff might happen between countries and cultures in a cyberpunk setting, 30-50 years in our future?
Not gauging how plausible any of these ideas are, just how fun for players to game in.
>India breaks up after Chinese invasion
>Franco-Germany invades eastern Europe in the name of the EU
>Russian-Turkish War over the Caucasus...again
>Iran invades and subjugates Iraq and the Persian Gulf, leading to a cold war with Saudi
>Second American Civil War with the Coastal US fighting the Interior US
>Turkey invades Greece and the Balkans
>China creates a mercantilist economic bloc that surrounds most of SE Asia
>Nigeria absorbs neighbouring countries, gets its shit together and becomes an African superpower, kicking out other powers from the continent
>Sino-Japanese war over a fragmented Korea
>>53908806
It's quite impressive that I can see both her buttcrack and cleavage, but her back must be hurting like hell
>>53908955
It's a cantilevered system: the butt balances out the cleavage and the micromesh-shear gel ballistic armor keeps everything wrapped up tight.
>Faster than light travel is achieved by the use of the microverse, a parallel dimension to our own at a 1 trillion to 1 scale. Simply jump in, travel in the microverse for a while, and then jump out again having travelled trillions of miles while actually having only travelled a few, relatively speaking.

Don't ask what happens when you crash into a planet while travelling at 500,000 micromiles a second
>>53908725
Traveling in the microverse would appear to have nothing to do with going fast. Distances are just shorter. As such, impacting a planet after emerging from the microverse should be no more nor less deadly than impacting the planet after traveling through real space.
Pic related is a rough image of how it would work. Basically: You can get from point A to B in 100 miles in the real universe by traveling in a straight line, or you can get from point A to B by starting at A, hopping into the microverse, traveling 25 miles, and then hopping out.
Only it's much less than 25 miles. This is just for ease of understanding.
>>53908725
I assume planets in the microverse are so small it would be like hitting specks of dust with your car.

So if I took Bribed the Doctor in the Terraformars with a piece of Zion from Worm, and also managed to somehow make him a companion, could I start the cycle on the Johj?
So as of 8e, instead of having a nice healthy 3-way slaughterfest of Imperium, Orks, and Khorne followers on Armageddon, the writers at GW dragged their little 'Chaos is unstoppable gaiz!' wankfest from the Gathering Storm to Armageddon and turned it into Humans & Orks vs Khorne vs Tzeentch, and half the planet looks like the hellscape of a daemon world now.
Emps, Gork, Mork, and Khorne could've just cracked open a couple beers and watched the whole war from a giant couch on a big screen in the Warp, but noooooo, GeeDubs had to toss Mister 'JUST AS PLANNED' into the mix...
>>53908145
>implying Ghazzy didn't just telepathically tell his boyz from back in Octarius to take orders from Yarrick during that clusterfuck because "he knows how ta fight."
You're underestimating the respect Orks have for the old Commissar.
Maybe they are angling for a shadow war update with daemon mobs?
>>53908449
Maybe. I think OP is just cranky that the one planet that was an originally an Ork world (Ullanor) and was being fought over by the Imperium and Orks is now being used as another stage to show how Chaos is 'supposed to be the big bad of the setting' or something along those lines.

Tolkien elves have NOTHING to do with the elves of Germanic lore. Humans with long ears and lives, as opposed to the Fae tricksters of germanic origin. Why are you using inferior knockoffs?
Do you mean Tolkien elves of fae elves?
Elves of Germanic lore have NOTHING to do with the elves of the Norse eddas. Tiny fairy tricksters, as opposed to the radiant ancestral demigods of ljosalfheim. Why are you using inferior knockoffs?
>>53908086
So Tolkien took his elves from the Norse eddas? Tolkien was right all along?
Ocean science journalist & strategy game fan here, I'm ready to dive into the wargaming and sink a load of pirate gold into the hobby.
The catch-o-the-day is that I won't bother painting anything aside from aquatic themed miniatures. It's gotta be pirates, ocean critters, merfolk, pressure divers - something/anything that can be twisted into an oceanographer's fantasy wet-dream.
Since I want to play wargames with my minis, this led my maritime research into these games + factions:
>Wraith of Kings - House of Hadross
http://wrathofkings.com/ks/factions/house-of-hadross/
>Kings of War - Trident Realm of Neritica
http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/kings-of-war/trident-realm-of-neritica.html
>Warmachine - Cryx + Mercs
http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/cryx
>Warhammer - Dreadfleet
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/108722/dreadfleet
What else is out there /tg/? What is the best wargame with the best aquatic-themed miniatures?

If you were given a time machine with just enough power to go back in time just before tabletop RPGs really started to become well known, would you still allow D&D to become the face on the genre, or would you make another system or company the face of it. if so, which one?
>>53906543
This thread is going to be terrible.
D&D isn't the problem. 3.PF is.
Despite it not being my playstyle, I respect OSR types for having their own thing that works for them and generally being comfortable in their own sub-community. 3.PF, meanwhile, popularised RPG's along with a huge number of bad habits and awful design decisions.
Having said all that? I still wouldn't use time travel to supplant or remove it. I'd just try to stop them making stupid fucking mistakes and hopefully releasing a better game that would create a healthier RPG space and not leave us struggling to get out from under the shadow of that godawful system.
>>53906543
I'd stop 9/11.
