Any good books about the Savlar Chem Dogs?
I liked that Shadowsword has one that is actually a bro to his crewmates, in his own Savlar way.
Failing that, I'm open to suggestions about 40k books. I've read a lot of books, but I'd be happy to discover some other jewels. I heard Demon world was really good.
It's not Guard, but I just finished The Emperor's Gift and I think it was the best BL book I've read. Good prose, good characterization, brings up some interesting questions and some really excellent scenes. Also finished Prince of Crows recently, while it's good it doesn't compare to his novel length stuff.
Also /r/ing the BL tier list charts, if anyone has em

I highly recommend Deathwatch by Steve Parker and the associated short stories, Headhunted and Exhumed IIRC.
Baneblade, Shadowsword, and the 2 short stories, Stormlord and Iron Harvest (Read this one before Shadowsword, it will make the crew much more likeable, in a Brothers in Arms sort of way) by Based Guy Haley (generally speaking Haley is a good pick).
Dead Men Walking for one of the most grimdark book about 40k, featuring the KDK, by Steve Lyons. Fantastic but super depressing. The short story Down Amongst the Dead Men by the same author deals with "training" on Krieg is equally good and depressing.
Red Tithe by Robbie McNiven and Eye of Medusa by David Guymer are two excellent books giving loads of background information about, respectively, the Carcharodons and the Iron Hands (I have to say, I'm a Carcharodons player but hot diddly damn Eye of Medusa was good, IH are scary and brutal as fuck in this book)
Death of Antagonis and Warden of the Blade by David Annandale are solid books as well, one fluhes out the Black Dragon nicely (very different interpretation than Kyme's savage view on them) and since you like GK, the 2nd is about Castellan Crowe, and a fantastic insight on the perils of the GK and the bearer of the blade of Ant'wyr in particular. Manages to make him non Mary-Sue.
Pdf related is also a great book, it's everything a book about an unknown chapter should be. I like to share it around since it was take from the BL site 2 weeks before release because of legal problems, so poor Kearney wrote a whole damn novel for nothing, and I suspect he is the one that put up his novel on torrents so that it's not forgotten.

It's sometimes the most practical way to carry yours when you're going to be doing a lot of flying. Leashes don't work for that--they tend to snap their necks.
Besides, I've seen mortals carry their young around much like that.

I mean, the bridle and harness are a bit much. But I guess some metallics like making the mortals comfortable. It's not like a bit or rein is going to actually control a dragon that doesn't want to be controlled.

In cyberpunk it's common that global corporations completely overpower or have subsumed any kind of government. I have a hankering for a crumbling Eastern European megacity kind of cyberpunk: what would a cyberpunk world/society grown from communism look like, /tg/?
>>53916206
I didn't realize that I also want an answer to this.
Government mandated limb replacements and augmented parts to increase productivity and get all people on the same level, resulted in everyone being a really shitty cyborg.
Brain implants that suppress aggressive desires for power and control to quell capitalist uprisings, only for half of the implants to not even work right due to bad production, and a quarter of the implants driving people insane. Of course, the people in charge don't need the head chips.
This is an interesting concept, OP.
>>53916206
A lot of Eastern Euro states have the whole oligarchs thing. I imagine you'd be able to pull a lot of inspiration from how those crazy Russian billionaires live and that whole project avatar thing where the dude is trying to get into a robot on the quick.

Male Because we can make it funny

It entirely depends on how degrading (for me) the magical realm is.

This is worse than either given option. I'd rather go through both full length magical realm campaigns.

Warmasters Triumvirate is an attempt at creating yet another 40k AU. The Primarchs have changed, and instead of appointing a single Warmaster upon returning to Terra, the Emperor leaves the Great Crusade in the care of three of his sons. This eventually culminates in a civil war between Loyalists, Chaos Traitors and Separatists...

I think it might be useful to talk about the sort of things that each fork does on the Ullanor Crusade, since right now we have the Emperor rushing towards Ullanor itself with the Gunslingers, Titan Marchers, Custodes, and a massive contingent from the Imperial Army (I'd assume.)
Who is on each Warmaster's flank?
Wherever Gyahdred is, he's close enough to Je'She that Je'She orders him to protect some humies.

How about we add some legions to the Ullanor campaign that aren't represented that much yet? Maybe get some Iron Guard or Sovereign Host in here. We gotta get some love for the other guys in there.

What happened to Leyawiin and the Khajiit resistance fighters after Oblivion? Is it still a part of Cyrodiil?
Traveller is a classic science fiction system first released in 1977. In its original release it was a general purpose SF system, but a setting was soon developed called The Third Imperium, based on classic space opera tropes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with a slight noir tint.
Though it can support a wide range of game types, the classic campaign involves a group of retired veterans tooling around in a spaceship, taking whatever jobs they can find in a desperate bid to stay in business, a la Firefly or Cowboy Bebop.

What've you smuggled in the holds of your ships, anons?
>>53791987
>What've you smuggled in the holds of your ships, anons?
All the usual stuff, people, guns, drugs, booze, porn, you name it. With 11,000 worlds in the 3I, everything is illegal somewhere.
In one case, I had NPCs using the PCs as unwitting mules. The PCs had helped the NPCs out of a jam and thought they'd been given a nice continuing freight contract as a reward. In reality, it had been a set-up from the 1st and the freight they'd been carrying at premium rates usually had something "hinky" about it.
In another session, the PCs carried a nondescript 5 dTon container for a freighting firm only to have the branch of that firm on the world they'd traveled to refuse delivery. The container didn't have the right paperwork, it wasn't on their schedule, and they didn't want anything to do with it. Thinking the paperwork got switched some how in the warehouse on the previous world, the PCs opened the container to try and figure out who it belonged to only to find it crammed full of small arms, ammo, body armor, medical supplies, vacc suits, spare parts, etc. All kinds of stuff pirates could use.
They hadn't even got over that shock when the a port official contacted them to inform them that a newly arrived ship was asking about them AND the container.
>>53793829
oooh, this sounds Fun, how'd it go from there?
>>53793865
Both good and bad like any good session should play out.
The ship asking about them was inbound from the 100D limit and wouldn't land for hours. They close up the container and went into lock down aboard their ship. An ex-scout PC scanned the personnel listing of the local base, spotted a guy he'd served with, and called him up for help.
The contents weren't illegal because the container hadn't crossed the xtrality line yet, but having a couple million credits worth of mislabeled paramilitary equipment could still raise questions. The PC's contact came aboard, they showed him everything, he called his boss, they showed the boss everything, the boss called his contacts with the port, they showed those contacts everything, and suddenly they were the bait in sting operation.
The incoming ship was claiming they'd been sent by the freighting company to collect and return the wayward container. Because they had a man inside the company, their papers and other bona fides were in order.
The port officials decided to act like nothing was wrong, let the ship land, and let the people aboard meet the PCs to arrange transferring the container. During the meeting, the PCs were supposed to let slip that they'd opened the container and knew what was inside it. What would happen after that would depend on how the suspects reacted to the fact that the PCs knew what was in the container.
Let's just say the sting didn't go as well as hoped, some of the people aboard the other ship got away, and the criminal cabal they worked marked the PCs down for punishment.
It made for good recurring antagonists.

First off, the ever popular spider tanks, Tachikomas
>Tachikoma/Class: Mechanical/Lv 5

>Speech: yes
>Reaction: Friendly
>ID: 15
>Weakness: [Magnet]

>{Fixed Values} | 17 | 16 | 9 | 16 | 8
>Initiative: 16(6)
>HP: 76
>Armor: 10
>Barrier: 4
>[Weapon Attack] : Ranged Attack / 10 Sq. / 1#
>- [Form: Ranged] 4d6+16 physical damage to the target.
>«Spider tank»: Constant / User / User
>-User can make Ranged attacks after a combat move
>«Spider tank 2»: Constant / User / User
>-User ignores obstacle in 1 square for the purpose of movement
>«50mm Grenade launcher»: Attack / 7Sq / Area
>->- [Form: Ranged] 3d6+16 physical damage to the target.
>«Apprehend the criminal!»: Attack / Engaged / 1#
>- [Form: Unarmed]Grabs the target causing [Shift:Paralysis]
I went somewhat simple on this one. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary. Mostly similar to a regular tank, with some better mobility.
>>53763644
And the Dork
>Nanakorobi Nene/ Class: Mechanical/ Lv 1
>Size: 2
>Wits: Clever
>Senses: Normal

>«Pandora Device, Open!»: Start / User / User
>-Users Stats change drastically. Lvl Goes to 5 and all combat stats go up to 8.
>Weapon Attack changes to [Form: ranged] 10 Sq, 2d6+10 damage. Must be engaged with Clarion To use. Lasts until combat end
>«Decode, Elpis series!»: Constant / User / User

>«Hacking» Magical Attack/ 10 Sq/ 1#
>- User can Take control of most Mechanical Mononoke During «Pandora Device, Open!»
This one hinges on the next one i'll post here. Overall really simple, but with a couple changes she could be very powerful.
>>53763680
And the Bonus one to go with Nene
>Clarion/ Class: Mechanical/ Lv 5
>Size:2
>Wits: Clever
>Senses: Heat
>Speech: Yes
>Reaction: Neutral
>Id: 12
>Weakness: [Magnet][Fire]

>{Fixed Values} | 18 | 17 | 10 | 10 | 11
>Initiative: 15(5)
>HP: 73
>Armor: 8
>Barrier: 5
>[Weapon Attack] : Physical Attack / Engaged / 1#
>- [Form: Sword] 2d6+15 physical damage to the target.
>«Tactical Knives» Constant/ User/ User
>-User Gains 1x Timing Attack when Using [Weapon Attack]. This can only be used with [Weapon Attack]
>«High Mobility» Constant/ User/ User
>-If user makes a full move, They can make [Weapon Attacks] with no penalty
>«Pandora Device, Open!» Constant/ User/ User
>- Allows Nanakorobi Nene to activate the skill of the same name
>«Don't touch my ears!» Constant/ User/ User
>- If someone has touched clarions ears besides Nanakorobi Nene, Clarion can make a Free single weapon attack. This Attack does not Activate «Tactical Knives»
Focus's on speed and weapon attacks. Pretty strong overall, but not a lot of variety in her skillset.

Is this shit balanced?

That GW has a terrible sense of timing.
>>53933080
yes, but I don't think that that is the case here.
I think there are 2 reasons:
1) developing a game cost time, and at the start of development there wasn't a lot of lore for AoS
2) the entire range of current Warhammer fantasy videogames are centered around the actual end times (virmintide even has it in the title.
>>53933053
If TWWH interested anyone in the hobby,
AoS makes it objectively much easier for them to actually act on that interest.
