Hey everyone, I figured it'd be better to ask this on here rather than on /d/ since I figure people here would have better ideas, mechanics, and simply fun-wise.
I'm make a vore-based class in 5e, and I'm looking for ideas or discussions from anyone interested in talking about it. I have some ideas of my own, but I'm always eager to hear about those of others.
I love this website.
>>43534713
It's got a lot of kooky characters on it, myself included, doesn't it?
>>43534691
Please.
Please, no. My penis is trying to retract back into my scrotum, that's how terrified I am.
So what are the pros and cons, besides caster supremacy, of 3.5, /tg/?
A few people I know want to run a campaign using it, but none of us really know what we're getting into.
Caster supremacy isn't even a problem until the higher levels, unless you're playing with hardcore min-maxers.
The biggest problem with 3.5/PF is how it's a combat system first and a roleplaying system second. It doesn't lend itself well to tackling problems in creative or non-combat ways, and making a character who is good at non-combat skills often involves sacrificing alot of combat strength and survivability.
3.5 was conceived as Ivory Tower gaming, vaguely built around a CCG model where players would buy books for new rules and experiment with various character builds the same way CCG. 3.5 is not a tactical wargame (like chainmail or 4e) or even a tactical rpg (like AD&D), it's a very difficult character building game. The decisions made and dice thrown in game play matter very little compared to the effort put into building a character.
This leads to either very strong generalist characters based around flexibly solving scenarios and circumventing threats (Conjuration Wizards), characters that are simply too strong to defeat without crit failing a save or die (CoDZilla), or one trick ponies that can generally line up one or two multi hundred-point damage hits per session. (Uber-charging Fighter)
What do your players look for in their character building and game play? 3.5 is like Morrowind, in that it's a game where players breaking the world is completely possible with minor game systems like alchemy. Later editions are like Skyrim, in that they are sane, but they don't reward the madly dedicated character builder.
Basically: 3.5 is the largest, best selling edition, with extensive splats that offer players a chance to demonstrate their puzzle-solving skills outside of the session. I love its byzantine bullshit, but I don't recommend it to most people.

>>43534689
Basically Magic users are totally useless until they level enough to wrek everything in sight, not saying it's balanced but, rather they just have classis taking turns of been totally broken. There is also 'trap options' bound.
As for its being role-play versus role-play it is a assumed you're gonna be spending most of your time combat. That doesn't mean you can't build of character for other stuff but just remember the system is not designed for it. Good role play we come down more to you to GM and the players more than how many points you can put into diplomacy.
in pathfinder would a character that has a class ability that makes them immune to disease also be immune to addiction
>>43534612
Considering you can have gay paladins I would say no.
>>43534612
I think there was an old 3.5 splat that covered this... I think it was POISON immunity that made you immune to addiction (At least for most drugs) but it did that by having them not work on you at all
>>43534612
IIRC addiction in Pathfinder is specific to each addictive substance, but the majority of them are classed as diseases so by the rules yes.
It makes for a fun idea of paladins popping loads of drugs, but sadly by and large there are no really effective combat/social drugs in PF.

fuck it boys, let's get this started off with a /tg/ related thing: I'm tinkering with the idea of a fleet-scale (that is to say, 5-50 capital ships per side) SW wargame concept, and I'm seeking out suggestions for rules, resolution mechanics (i'm big on percentile, right now) etc

you sir are a saint.
William D. Porter was running at top speed through the streets of Yokosuka Naval Base, terrified out of her mind. Her eyes were scrunched tightly shut, tears forming at the corners, as she made a blind dash for freedom from the terrifying specter looming behind her, one from whom she could never seem to escape.
"Great job! You're as fast as I thought!" Shimakaze shouted encouragingly from her place close behind. "But you would be so much faster if you put this on!"
Gasping at how CLOSE Shimakaze sounded, Willie whipped her head around, looking desperately over her shoulder, only to see the Japanese destroyer much, much closer than she had dared fear.
And in Shimakaze's hands, proffered as a gift, was one of her sets of clothing. Clothing that she fully expected Willie to actually wear.
The thought of donning such an outfit made Willie simultaneously wail with horror and flush with embarrassment. The day had started well enough. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and Shimakaze had greeted her with a smile. Then she had insisted that Willie put on that... abomination of an outfit, and all of a sudden the morning had turned into an impromptu jogging session. From Shimakaze's viewpoint, at least.
Willie just wanted to get as far away from the Sailor Thong getup as was humanly possible. Shimakaze just wasn't getting the memo, there.
"I-I-I k-keep telling, you, I don't w-wanna-"
"Uh, Willie, look out for that-"
And then Willie ran face-first into a brick wall.
"...Ouch," Shimakaze observed, screeching to a halt. "Uh, are you okay, Willie? Did you shift in time?"
Wordlessly, Willie slid down the wall, face-first, until she hit her knees. Overcome with pain and the sheer humilation of running into a STUPID wall right in front of STUPID Shimakaze, she burst into tears, unsuccessfully trying to hide her mortification behind her hands.
"Ah, Willie?!" Panicked, Shimakaze was beside the American destroyer in an instant, checking her over for injuries. She poked Willie's cheek. "Metal. It honestly looks like the wall got the worst of it... are you okay?" The blonde destroyer looked askance at the new crack in the wall. Warship hull beat brick any day of the week, after all.
"...why..." Willie whispered thickly.
"Why what?" Shimakaze asked, blinking.
"Why do I have to be such a screw-up?!" Willie wailed, pounding on the wall weakly.
"You're not a screw-up."
"Have you read ANYTHING about me?!" Willie sobbed, looking over at Shimakaze, who was staring back blankly.
"Sure. Your first voyage was with a mostly green crew, who made all of the mistakes one would expect of a mostly green crew, and accidentally shot a torpedo at President Roosevelt." Willie sobbed louder. "Embarrassing, but it hardly makes you a screw-up."
"That wasn't all of it though," Willie moans.
"Eh, who cares," Shimakaze shrugged. "That was then, this is now. Clean slate and stuff, you know."
"I... huh?" Willie blinked. "What... how can you say that?"
"Look," Shimakaze said, sitting down next to Willie. Her pose showed off a lot more than the American destroyer was comfortable with. More than usual, that was. "I understand where you're coming from. Our current state of being can be very confusing. My personal theory is that we're animate gestalts of multiple soul impressions gathered around a central consciousness influenced by both external views of us and our own perceptions of ourselves."
Willie's mind went blank, both from a certain existential dread at Shimakaze's offhand words, and the fact that she had no goddamned clue what the blonde destroyer was prattling on about.
"What," she finally offered.

>QM question
Mostly coming up with either a gimmick or a pun. It sounds dumb, but hear me out. I keep that idea in mind when I make the character, then flesh out how they became who they are and a logical character progression. Then I come up with what they excel at and what they lack. Finally, I consider dynamics with the rest of the cast and decide if I use them. Everything but that happens as the quest does.
Except random encounters. Those come out of my ass.
So, I've had a really disappointing thing happen recently.
I found out Archelon is still writing PGQ asides, and I was all ready to read it. I started reading it, and then noticed that almost half of it was fellating Monique over that fucking Duel.
I'm serious.
It was maybe 30 paragraphs long and over 13 of those were talking about how handsome and strong Monique is and how he totally won that duel fair and square with no rolling bullshit involved.
Which leads me to one question. Why? Why is he doing this? I just wanted a small aside with a side character without being reminded about the absolute worst fucking part of the quest that killed the entire playerbase. But he revels in it, and then he revels in the character he made that specifically caused it to happen.
Is that like his Sonichu? Am I witnessing a legit mental condition on his part? I wasn't really around for the full brunt of it, but I want to know.
I was in the middle of typing up a comment about VTMIV so that's what our topic is.
Masquerade 4e is going to be post Gehenna. What do you think Masquerade--or either World of Darkness as a whole--would look like post apocalypse? It's unlikely the world as a whole will have realized anything even happened, but the idea of how the various supernaturals would react in that situation is a neat idea.
Has anyone used the post apoc Mirrors suggestions?

If the setting for VtM Fourth Edition isn't close to or exactly the same as By Night Studio's version of the setting, I'll eat my hat. That's probably the only way you can do a post-Gehenna setting without the world blowing up.
>>43532253
How'd they do it? "Gehenna was a bust"?
I vaguely recall people talking about it, but saying that it was basically not all that big a deal for most of the world.
I just think that a post-apocalypse would be cool to play from the perspective of most WoD organizations and characters.

This was the last official word on it, at least outside of the VtM forums (which I don't frequent).
You are Irue Valen, blood heir to House Valen, a lineage of nobility whose grandeur dated back to before the founding of this country. Your last name was worthy of being recognized across any border, capable of granting you audiences with any number of royalty - Foreign or otherwise. Unfortunately, you couldn't quite say the same about your first name. In the past few months since the beginning of your Rite of Initiation, a lot has happened; A good intentioned betrayal by your cousin, the meeting of your Testaments, the recruitment of an entire brigandry into your personal knights, more than a few unexpected and less than profitable encounters with Mana, discovering that you'd been purposefully isolated from the world for most of your life...
It was in Carona you had discovered that last part. In this town - several months ago, before its gates were closed and vigilantly watched by guards - you had come to the disturbing realization that despite being the rightful heir to the entirety of House Valen, the owners of the very land this town resided on, not one person knew who you were. You had experienced a variety of hardships back then, ranging from petty frustrations to outright offense, and now you were back. If the outward appearance of a town dedicated to keeping people out of its walls had not been a strong enough hint, the fact you had been accosted by some ill-trained idiot was more than enough to plainly state that this town seemed to be intent on continuing its role as a thorn in your side.
"I detained someone I want questioned." You relay the events to Dullem as soon as you arrive, dismissing his hesitation as he makes his first order to actually go detain someone under your command. "Where's Rinnier?" You skip ahead, looking around for a glimpse of the red haired spitfire that you had the (mis)fortune of calling your Testament.
"Carona, as far as we can tell." Dullem admitted after an awkwardly silent moment.
What.
Your train of thought promptly screeched to a halt. "She was supposed to find out what was going on and then come back." Your voice rose a little, crimson eyes narrowing at Dullem as your Knight Captain fidgeted a little. "We don't know what happened down there, but it looked like she talked to the guard for a few minutes, then something went wrong. They took her inside by force."
...
"I judged that we couldn't get down there in enough numbers to do anything about it in time, and we'd have risked losses from the guards if we had tried, so we stayed hidden."
This town.
"...Er, Ser Valen?"
This fucking town.

They have a lot of different units, but the internal balance is pretty bad (1/6 HQs is actually good for example)
Anybody buy the White Dwarf 91 issue? Well in it, it had a two page 'article' on the Ordinatus engine. It even said it was out to buy. So I went to FW and looked around and it wasn't there. So I emailed them and asked. Got this reply.
I basically asked "has it been delayed for a reason or something? IA14 maybe ;)"
But they didn't give anything away. Shame. When is Doom of Myrema Second Edition due out with the Siege Leviathan Dreadnought and shit? I'm surprised there si no IA14 out either.
I am distraught.
