I'm running a lighthearted Princes of the Apocalypse game (5e) and I'd like to give my players a Deck of Many Things, for the kek.
When can I justify giving it to them?
Will bump with character art, while I wait
Starting with archers, taking requests
>>43549618
Just give it to them whenever. Do it soon so that you can get over it.
It's going to destroy your campaign no matter what you do, so it doesn't really matter when you give it to them.
Haha! Time for Party Thread!
Draw/heromachine your party and tell us a little about them and their quest!
This template is awful.
>>43549567
you're awful
Give it up OP, there's only like six people in these threads who actually post drawings, and I'm one of them.
do you listen to rule 0?

I do
>win all the time
>people get short with you
>make bonehead plays all the time
>people get sarcastic at you
>Players make a group and are looking for a GM
>They put up information on how to run the game and what can and can't be done by the GM
>Dozens of listings like this
/tg/ we need to have a heartful discussion here. Is it right to let players make a group and then find a GM for them and then tell the GM how to run their game? Is the GM not the God of the table?
I ask you with a bit of concern since this seems to be a growing fad amongst the player base. It seems the whole tradition where the GM was in charge of the game has fallen apart.
So tell me /tg/, what do you think of this?
>>43548793
>Is it right to let players make a group and then find a GM for them and then tell the GM how to run their game?
Yes.
>Is the GM not the God of the table?
They can be.
>I ask you with a bit of concern since this seems to be a growing fad amongst the player base. It seems the whole tradition where the GM was in charge of the game has fallen apart.
It is. Every player and the GM are supposed to be in charge of the game. It's a collaborative effort now.
>>43548793
If the GM wants to run a game the same way as the players want, it's not a problem. Players are also a important part of the game.
Players should have the first say because they are the ones who know what kind of game they want to play, the GM is there to facilitate their needs.

To get us started; what are the best modern era long-arms for soldiers of fortune and what accessories would you consider worth adding?
Mediafire folders with older material not in the MEGA archive.
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/qiq29z073l9zs/GURPS
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/fvkg5h94x1k1m/GURPS
Anyone with plenty of time to spare could help out by transferring books which aren't in the MEGA archive yet over to it or by organising the '3rd Edition' folder of the archive (mostly the filenames just need making a bit more tidy and uniform).
If anyone has a copy of Dungeon Fantasy Denizens: Barbarians or Transhuman Space: Bio-Tech 2100, please share them in this thread.

>what are the best modern era long-arms for soldiers of fortune and what accessories would you consider worth adding?
GURPS firmly favours high rate-of-fire weapons; I'd generally go for something with a RoF of 13+.
In my experience, most characters will have (Pistol) or (Rifle) as their best Guns specialities; if it's the latter, then you should probably try and use a rifle, but if it's the former you could consider shotguns, SMGs and LMGs too.
Best rifle is probably one of the full-auto M16 variants. The M16A3 seems like the best off-the-shelf one.
Shotguns have the advantage of being able to generate a lot of hits (making them hard to dodge) and firing special ammunition. The USAS-12 is especially attractive for it's ability to fire 53 pellets a turn.
Best SMGs are probably the Suomi KP/31 and the FN P90. Both have large capacity magazines, a good RoF and decent Acc.
LMGs offer a wide variety of options, especially if you like German weaponry; the MG34, MG 42 and HK21 are all good, if a little heavy.
So I'm still reading GURPS Characters and I think this is definitely my favorite system I've ever read. I'm not ready to run it yet though. Probably after I finish reading Campaigns I'll try running a game. Reading the Characters book makes me want to run a sci-fi game though.
How do your characters treat their servants, /tg/?
>>43548477
Like mlthe marine malevolent treat theirs
>>43548477
"Servant! Servant!"
"Yes master?"
"MORE HEALTH POTIONS!"
"Right away Master."
They are the servants
Why is it nearly impossible to find an online RPG group that doesn't require using Skype? I loathe Skype and want to avoid it, but I'd still like to play games sometime. What's wrong with just using text on Roll20 or whatever?
People like to talk and Skype is the most well known and plebian of programs to facilitate that.
Because we want to know that you're actually paying attention instead of just shitposting on 4chan in another tab and every now and then jumping back to see what everyone has said.
>>43548431
Dunno. Roll20 has fucking voice. Why have an extra thing going?

Tell me /pfg/, how have your homebrew rules and things been going for you? I myself am a bit burned out, but would love to hear your ideas.
Sweet zombie fuck all the cameos have already been claimed.
I feel so loved. And so terrified.
I'd like to thank everyone for the feedback you gave on the new stuff for the knight-chandler. After discussing it with the rest of the team, we've slightly reworded a couple things and added clarifications to others.
The healing was initially meant to be capped by the amount of damage you /actually/ do, but we decided in the end to cap it to the maximum hit points of your target, so you don't get gypped if you happen to need to finish an enemy off. There's been a slight rewording of the first ability (it can just go off on any attack, including attacks of opportunity, rather than needing to declare it beforehand. Initially there had been a 1/round limit to its use, but that went away and left weird wording behind).
For the inevitable questions about having a familiar or psicrystal in your space, we've decided to leave it as it is. The reasoning here is that if you've got a psicystal or familiar hanging out with you, and they're actually /threatened/, then that means the enemy could attack them and possibly kill them. Losing a psicrystal isn't so bad, but still requires some feat investment by someone, and losing a familiar is going to mean they're gone for a bit and you're out some gold. I wouldn't recommend the strategy, because it's a pretty good way to paint a target on your pet rock/bird.

Oh wow, I thought the author wasn't doing any more of these.
>>43547993
Holy shit. Thought he wasn't going to do any more because it made him nervous how popular it was?

do we have a date on when he said that?
I would like to mark down how long it took greed/ a good idea to beat out nervousness for future study.
So what does /tg/ think about a game of playing some stray animals, be it cats, dogs, rabbits or whatever, fighting for day to day survival in the streets of some big city. Bonuspoints for post-apocalypse.
Sure. I'd pass inthe post apoc aspect though. Part of the fun to me would be interacting with the mundane world.

>So what does /tg/ think about a game of playing some stray animals, be it cats, dogs, rabbits or whatever, fighting for day to day survival in the streets of some big city.
Sounds awesome. Lots of room for good ideas and interesting adventures.
>Bonuspoints for post-apocalypse.
You misspelled demerits.
That was a video game, wasn't it?
so I'm making an item that basically allows you to cast fireball centered on yourself. My Barbarian player is receiving it and I've already told him that since it's centered on himself there's no way to make a dex save on such an attack. My question is should he still get his half damage bonus from being in rage?
any help would be welcome
it recharges at dawn as well. Once per day
What's the idea of this item? Why centre fireball on oneself?
Age: 731
Location: Planet Izzan
Information: An alien named Frieza has drafted the Saiyans to serve him, and tasked them with the destruction of life-forms on the Planet Izzan. The inhabitants of that world are stronger than most of the Saiyan Warriors, but a full moon will soon appear.
Welcome to Saiyan Quest. This takes place shortly after the war against the Tuffles, as the Saiyans look for more foes to battle in the absence of their old enemies.
Voting will operate on a first to five system, at least for the time being.
Dialogue is allowed to be added to votes, as are actions (though I'll ignore what I consider shitposting)
During battles, options will usually have a number assigned to them. After that vote has won, players will roll a d100, and have three chances to match or beat that number.
If a 100 is rolled, it is considered a crit success (unless 100 was the number you had to match).
If a 1 is rolled, it is a crit failure, regardless of whether or not the other two rolls are high enough to succeed.
If, during a battle, players want to attempt a writein action, that is allowed, but I am the one who will assign the number to it, so use caution
You're a young male Saiyan who fought in the war with the Tuffles. You are an average fighter for now, but have the potential of one of the greatest warrior races to roam the universe flowing through your veins. There is no limit to what you can accomplish through blood, sweat, and tears.

Hello children! remember last night? no? well too bad im back.
last thread or somethin: >>43532488
so last time you ran around the woods, messed with a youth pastors emotions, and hitched a ride with a caravan of actors.
you were also naked for a lot of it.
picking up where last time left off:
It appears that following dinner is acting rehearsal. they're all quite good performers, but rehearsel is not as interesting to watch as a the true show.
>watch show
>try and remember how the hell you got into the woods in the first place
>write in

>Try to remember how the hell you got into the woods
Always good to make sure nothing of importance is being forgotten.
>>43547888
you try to conjure up memories of last night.
you seem to remember a drow holy day, a wagon of gnomish ale, and a surprise attack from a band of paladins.
you know that you're several hundred miles away from the area you would designate as "home", so whatever happened, you ended up legging it.
the actors seem to have finished rehearsel, and the moon has risen. everyone seems to be heading off for bed.

Late in the morning after the funeral you escorted Welles to, you and Leigh are hanging around you and Leigh's room at the inn. Calof's off talking to Eyven about being paid for services provided, Jolie tagged along, and Ansi is still off...
Scratch that, Ansi just came back! So much for spending time alone with Leigh.
"Where have you been?" Leigh asks him.
Ansi retorts, "why do you care?"
"Well... I don't, but-"
"Exactly."
