Looking for Undead specific advice.

By the time I reach anything, half the game is over.

After some play I found shambling is a bitch for actually closing in on anything. Surge is only good if you're a few inches away, but too expensive to surge everything every turn against gunlines and such. Non-shamblers mixed with shamblers was just a mess.

Zombies I found were a bit squishy for tanking despite the higher nerve, and even the the higher attack dice they get, the 5+ is shit anyway. Seemed better spent on skeletons trading offense for defense.

Ghouls seems worthless outside of hordes due to nerve, and seem to invalidate zombies. The ghouls trade everything for offense, the skeletons for defense, and the zombies sit in-between.

Thinking I need only one surge per 1200 pts or so with one healer because at least one tanking horde dies before lifeleech, and there were fewer payoffs for surge than every 1-per-500 pt hero having surge.

Tick tock tick tock, always ticking and tocking this house, too many clocks along the walls and halls. It almost entrancing at the times when it's not annoying, almost like a simple but lovely song.

I sigh, rubbing the locket in my chest to calm my shaking nerves as I remember what the queen said to me before she left, she was quite precise in what she wanted me to do.

Though she didn't say it so bluntly, I could tell what she meant. Break Crimson Dream's body or spirit as she did to her. A world where the gods destroy anyone that crafts weapons and all combat is unarmed.
Magic is limited to healing magic, blessings, enchantments and buffs(they can give offensive powers, but you can't directly attack anyone with it). There are various fantastical races, each with their brand of magic and fighting style.
I want /tg to do it's worldbuilding magic and make this world a billion times better than I could.

Basically Savage attacks make it to where instead of adding one extra damage die to your damage roll, you add two for normal crits. A rogue's sneak attack counts as part of their damage dice, and assassin rogues are guaranteed a crit if the target is surprised.

Assuming you're max level and are using a dagger (for simplicity's sake), on a crit you are dealing 3d4+30d6+(dex/str mod) damage, not to mention that Assassin's also have a archetype feat that allows them to double that damage if the target fails a Con save.

It's a surefire way of taking a massive chunk of health off of something, though that's given you actually hit it, but I wouldn't call it cheesy. Rogues are meant to be bursty, as they only get one attack, two if they're dual wielding.

Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony, but everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. The world slowly smoldered as the Air Nomads were eradicated by the Fire Nation, leaving nothing but empty homes in their wake. The Fire Nation has already started a full-scale campaign on the Southern Water Tribe, beginning the cycle of death anew.

Fifty years this war has raged, scorching the forests and destroying lives. Many have died and all hope of the Avatar's return has been extinguished, but life goes on. The walls of Ba Sing Se, Omashu, and the Northern Water Tribe have held the Fire Nation at bay, seemingly nothing can penetrate them. As always, there is also solace in wandering.

But this isn't a story about the Avatar, or a king, or even a hero, this is the story of Kuo, a wandering Firebender.

You wake up more than a little groggy from your late night activities, the sun already high in the sky, to a quick rap on your door. You open the door and it appears to be a summons to the War Room, so you put on the robes you call your own now, grab a bunch of the worthless books on culture and tactics, and check the mirror. You see yourself, Kuo, a look of conviction in your eyes, staring back at you. You grab the small spectacles of a scholar off the desk and place them on your face, feeling like they have a home there. Staring back at you now is Dong Rock, a nervous scholar with absolutely no idea how to deal with what he does, glancing cautiously at you.

You walk out of your room towards the War Room, making sure to hunch over a bit and stand defensively; making yourself look small and concealing the strength you built up over your travels. The large doors open with only silence to accompany them; they must have oiled the hinges or something. You walk forward and the doors close behind you, the Generals looking at you stone-faced. One of them speaks.

"Good job Dr. Rock, your insight into the enemy's lack of aptitude was very much appreciated, and we expect a report from the front by the end of the day. We hate to utilize your judgment again so early, but we have another problem we could use your help with."

"O-okay, what do you need me to figure out?" You stutter like you normally do.

One of them pulls out a map of a Fire Nation outpost and a few plans of attack. The majority of the plans appear to involve direct combat and wiping the enemy out, but there are some more intriguing ones. One of them shows the exact same boulder-launching approach you heard last time. Another shows a concealed attack to assassinate their commander. The last one that catches your eye simply shows cutting the supply lines, a risk because the post is near a Fire Nation colony.
