>Evil Seed spilling all over the world, turning people crazy
>Countless rumors and legends surrounding a mythical weapon that grants untold power
>Everyone is gunning for it
>Otherwise trying to survive in a Renaissance-era world filled with cults, monsters, magic, alchemy, world-destroying weapons, inquisitions, and countless dozens of wandering martial artists
There's a lot you could work with in a game based on the Soul Calibur universe. Dealing with malfestation, whether being malfested yourself or hunting down the malfested monsters, dealing with plenty of wandering souls trying to uncover answers, beating the shit out of everyone you see, even hunting down Soul Edge or Soul Calibur are all viable hooks.
Always wanted to run a game in this universe actually. Or play in one, either would work. Just always wondered what system i would use and what not.

There's been several suggestions, most of them surrounding crunching melee combat.
>Song of Swords
>Riddle of Steel
And a couple others that escape me.
Level 10 monk with vow of poverty
No magic setting
Got ring of wish
Wat do?
>>43531131
>No magic setting
>Got ring of wish
I...have questions.
>Vow of Poverty
Looks like you're either leaving it where you found it or letting someone else have it.

Hey guys, I want to convince my friends to get into a mutants and mastermind rpg.
Up until now they've pretty much been playing high fantasy rpgs with the occasional 40k stuff thrown in.
They're pretty set in their ways. How do I convince them of the awesomeness of a life of fighting for justice in a modern superhero setting?
Picture related also Mutants and Mastermind thread in general?
>>43531127
By riding the Bicycle of Justice!
>>43531215
Already done. Almost every day.
... because gas is expensive bro.
>>43531127
Pitch it to them using superheroes that are popular so they have a frame of reference for the power level you have in mind. From there, just start talking about ideas. Most people have thought of what superpowers they'd want or what a cool superhero they'd like to see is like.
From there, you just can't get too pushy about it. The concepts probably won't be what you had in mind, but just let the group have sway here. You don't want to shoot down someone's idea right off the bat for being silly or whatever. Base the tone around what they pick.
Offering to run it yourself can also help. Maybe even do a one-shot with prebuilts just to introduce the system, then explain how it can be used to make their own characters.
Any thoughts on this game?
Fire: the Devouring is probably the least awful thing to come out of the NWoD.
>>43531108
Fire: the Inferno was infinitely better and you know it.
>>43531037
Honestly, I don't understand why it is you are burning it, it actually is somewhat enjoyable, especially if played with people you either know very well, or people you already don't really like. It is the ideal family game, because your family belongs to both categories.
How do I run a game like Akame ga Kill while still keeping my players interested?
Pile on all of the gore, sex, gory sex, and other depraved shit all in the first session, throw in some ridiculous overpowered magical items, and force in some weak love interests with a horde of waifu characters and they'll be hooked.
Haven't seen the show, but I saw the Toonami promo.
>>43530688
Your basically spot on. In the manga it just keeps trying to out edge itself. OVER AND OVER AND OVER! I mean jesus!
is esdese or whatever her name is still alive?
"This is it - the big Halloween Dance! I hope nothing bad happens..."
SLAM
"Mom! You won't believe how awesome I was in the squareball game!"
"Huh? 'Dear Zack, sorry I couldn't come to your game; I got called back to work. Hope everything went okay. I left you-"
"-the car key!"

Not really a competition to begin with.

Topic of the Thread:
How do you feel about the Undying Light pact? Would you allow it in your games?
>>43530323
I'd allow it. Seems cool. PRAISE THE LIGHT
Poorly fleshed out concept with shitty mechanics.
Undying Light exists solely to play Magical Girls.
Does anyone else think that DW has some good ideas but needs a little more mechanical crunch to actualize them?
But all of it's good points are based on not having crunch.
>>43530266
It actually needs less crunch. It's trying way too hard to emulate D&D instead of doing its own thing as a World game.
Got excited. Thought we were continuing
Stat him for 5e
>>43530205
Or we could not try to stat someone in a system that frankly wasn't made to handle that kind of power level.
>>43530205
>>43530304
No, I got this.
For every stat just put "FUCKASSMAD" and let him kill everything by punching, even when it doesn't make sense, like punching until a planet size object disintegrates, or punching literally god to death.
Simple. He's a plot device.
>>43530304
Eh, not even the power level you can aim for general abilities. That being said Asura is one of those examples of why Monks shouldn't be lawful only.
Stat them for Rogue Trader.
>>43530010
Every single one of them is a sex object.
Seriously, look at those beautiful bastards.
As for stats, let me find my old rulebooks. Haven't dug up RT in years. This is going to take a while to find.
>>43530010
I was a bit put off by season 2's "end". Was the serie cancelled or something?
How do I get more, or at least a feeling of fulfilment from it?
>>43530010
Is Rock the trader?
As the thread name says. I'm looking into homebrew-ing up a system involving aerial combat. 3-dimensional combat hasn't been done properly, in anything that I've found at least. How would someone go about doing it right? Any ideas?
Pic semi-related, didn't have anything better.
Bump.
Which would be better- abstracted height levels, or an exact number? Abstracted = less math, exact numbers = less gamey range system.
There's some WWII ship fighting games that have rules for aircraft where they add an extension to the aircraft's peg base to physically elevate it.
After that, you might as well do away with the models because you're just "flying on instruments" so to say because abstracting it to that degree makes physical representation impossible to pointless.
Until hologram technology is readily available to the average consumer at a good enough quality, 3D game rules like realistic aerial combat are pretty much impossible on the tabletop or mathematically confusing on the page.
>>43531018
>>43529984
I just had a thought:
Could you use the height of dice in an ORE system to handle... well... height? Then just use tokens to represent whether a unit is one the 1,2,3, etc... z level of the combat zone?
Numenera thread.
What locales have you adventured in?
Is Intellect the OP stat since so few creatures have Armor against those attacks?
Does anyone have the Into The Night PDF?
Holy shit, people actually play Numenera?
>>43529771
Err, yes? Where do you think you are, /sp/ or something?
A Numenera thread?! Unheard of.I've been in a campaign for half a year now and I'm really enjoying it.
Intellect is good, I run a Nano who Talks to Machines, but I haven't run into it being too OP. I dump pretty hard into it which leaves my might and speed pools pretty low. My current campaign is all over the place, we ran the Devil's Spine adventure for a while and that went hilariously off the rails and now we're in completely homebrew territory, my DM is pretty great. Currently headed west from the Cicalian jungle to the cloud crystal skyfields.

Foresight Wizard
Hey there /tg/, looking for some advice.
My friends and I are going to be playing our first game of D&D tonight, and it seems I'm gonna be DM.
I've more or less familiarised myself with the rules and I played a bit of Baldur's Gate II back in the day, plus I'm an occasional lurker here so I'm not completely jumping into the deep end, but I was just looking for some tips that might help me out as a first-time DM.
Anything that might help out with keeping any of my more normie mates involved? Should I do voices for the NPCs or just describe what they say? Is there any accepted wisdom when it comes to maps or boards that the players can see so they can track their own movement in combat and the like?
We're going to be playing 5th Edition, and we have a kind of starter pack thing so I'm going to propose that we start out using the pre-built character sheets (at least for this first session) and the Lost Mine of Phandelver scenario that was included.
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated, in the meantime I'll shamelessly self-bump now and then with concept art.
Forgot that I can't self-bump any more. Fucking Hiroshima.
