I've got this book, it's a historical account on exactly what witches did, why they did it, and how people reacted to all of this. Great read, picked it up in some bookstore for five dollars.

Night_Lords_Assault.jpg

Hi /tg/. I could use some help with something. I'm trying to pick a Legion for Horus Heresy games. I tend to like loyalists, but I've always liked the look and backstory for the Night Lords. Do any of you fa/tg/uys have ideas for compelling, plausible fluff for a band of loyalist Night Lords? So far, the best I can think of is that a band of mostly Terran Night Lords was conducting a crusade on the outer edges of the galaxy, and when they returned, most of them were outraged that the rest of their Legion betrayed the Imperium that they fought for and sacrificed so much for. Of course, some of them probably dissented and those traitors had to be purged.
Of course, I could just go with Raven Guard, since they are loyal and not as grimderp as Night Lords. Right now I'm mainly interested in a fast, hard hitting Legion and Raven Guard, Night Lords, and Emperor's Children all fit that.
Thanks guys.

There were almost no Loyalist Night Lords. The majority of their Legion was made up of Murderers, Rapists, Thieves, etc. who adored their Primarch. The rest were largely dicks, and rather cynical and jaded due to the tactics the legion employed.
>>
>>43539571
The murderers and rapists mostly came after recruits were drawn from the gangs on Nostramo. The Terran-born were drawn from the outcast children of prisoners.
>>
>>43539571
However, I do tend to agree with you. It seems that it will be very difficult to justify loyalist Night Lords.

ROUND 3, FIGHT!

> What is it?
(HnK x Judge Dredd x Mad Max)^Street Fighter

> What do you do in it?
You play a fighter, either a nomad or a dweller, people of the post-cataclysm earth who now irk out a living either out in the wilds or deep in the mega-cities, by getting in fights.
> Why do you fight?
> What do you fight for?
> How do you fight?
That's up to you, but you WILL be getting in fights, it's a violent and depraved world out their, and it's up to people like you to stand for something better.

This is v0.1, and it's bare-bones. There's a list of things to come in future editions.
Know that more advanced combat-actions will be facilitated by Techniques and Styles, which have not been implemented yet; gotta work out the foundation before you build the house.

LAST TIME ON TxF
> So what kind of atmosphere are you trying to promote with this system?
To use /tg/'s own setting-alignment-things, Grim-Bright. The world's fucked, but good people (like the PCs) are trying to make it a little better one liberated settlement and over-thrown tyrant at a time. New problems keep cropping up, but there will always be people ready to face the, like A True Survivor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTidn2dBYbY

However, my long-term plans are pretty extensively penciled out. What I need right now is help going over the core game (as I've got a grand total of... 1 person that lives with me locally who's also into RPGs enough to give constructive feedback on mechanical stuff), lest I start adding bells and whistles only to find that the axles are unaligned.

So me and a few of the other players from our local group have finished playing/watching "Let's Play" videos of Undertale, and it got us thinking, how would a game where the heroes have the ability to simply talk down the monsters work? Has anyone ever accomplished that to a large scale in a tabletop setting?

Ever talked down the BBEG?

This is the other world, the frozen world where demons reign supreme. You've been here before.

Not this exact place – this dismal, lonesome prison where unknown numbers of humans have languished before being spirited off to their eventual fate – but the world itself. You came here before, by accident, and you only left through a happy convenience. Now you returned, deliberately, and you need to leave by any means possible. It's just a shame that you don't have any of those potential means available to you right now.

Your name is Mia Vespucci, and you're starting to wonder if this was a bad idea.

No, it was a good idea. You got important information out of this, information that you might have missed if you had waited. Not just information, but a new servant as well – Lilim, a little devil with an apparent talent for spying. Well, when she's not busy getting caught, that is – unless getting caught was part of her plan?

“Of course!” Lilim laughs nervously, “Hehe... heh... So, um, you've got a way out of here, right?”

...Of course you do.

“You do?” Cassandra asks softly, “I suppose you've got the advantage over me in this case. I'll follow your plan, then.”

Right... the plan. You clear your throat before explaining, awkwardly, that you were just planning to wander about until you found someone willing to help. That's what worked before, right?

“I see,” Cassandra nods after a hesitant pause, “Well, it DID work the last time.”

She's right, you admit to yourself, it's a terrible plan. Until Amelia finishes that “project” she was working on, however, you don't have any better ideas. Frankly, you're not even sure if you're willing to put all your trust in the temperamental deity – after what she did to Joseph, you just can't look at her the same way – or any of her plans. This isn't some grand act of rebellion, you tell yourself, it's just being pragmatic. Keeping your options open, just in case something bad happens.

You shake off your gloomy thoughts to see Cassandra looking at you, her face fixed in an expression of mild curiosity. With a strange feeling of guilt, you turn away from her and start to march off towards what you assume to be the exit. The rest of the prison, at least is deserted – not a single guard or prisoner in sight. The scale of the place staggers you though, with endless corridors lined with locked cells. Just how many luckless souls did this place hold once, in its prime? You couldn't begin to guess, and quite frankly, you're not sure you want to know.

Down endless flights of stairs and strangely curved corridors – how do they curve in a building with straight walls? - you eventually find yourself out in the open streets. Just like last time, everything lies under a thick blanket of snow while the iron grey sky churns above with heavy clouds. The bitter wind bites into your exposed cheeks and you shiver, flinching against the harsh weather. Time to move, you say quietly to yourself.

“This is different,” Cassandra remarks as you trudge through the snow, trying to stick to the shallow parts as much as possible, “I mean, it wasn't like this last time, I don't think. At least, I don't remember it this way. The sky was... red, wasn't it?”

You really couldn't say. Despite what Amelia told you – that you lived, for a while at least, in the same ruined world that Cassandra knew – you have no memory of that life. The only thing you remember, aside from the vague familiarity that Joseph wore about him like a shroud, was your death. Even that, now you think about it, isn't much of a memory – it's more of a sensation, a lingering trauma that surfaces whenever you sleep. Maybe now that you've met Amelia for yourself, things will start to come back to you, but...

“There,” Cassandra says suddenly, pointing to a light in the gloomy distance. A warm light, the kind of rich orange glow that can only mean fire. It might not help you get home, but the thought of taking shelter from the bitter chill lends fresh strength to your footsteps. Cassandra follows close behind you as you lead the way, carving a path through the deep snow towards the light. Then, as the building itself looms high above you, her steps slow. You carry on for a few paces before realising.

“I...” Cassandra murmurs, her voice nevertheless reaching you clearly. She pauses, looking up at the church before you both, and shudders slightly. “I don't want to stop here. I think we should try somewhere else.”

What? But it's right here! It looks so nice inside – warm and dry! Does she know something you don't?

“I don't know,” Cassandra rubs her temple, wincing slightly, “Maybe it's nothing...”

>Take a look inside the church
>Cassandra's right. Don't stop here

"I.... Exist?" The gift became aware to its state of existence. It looked around itself. Naught surrounded his formless entity. A great power surged inside itself.

"Yet my fate is not mine....I am bound to live and die within these words..." The gift's sense of self conscience grew; It felt the invisible strands all over its body...

"No, It belongs to you and your band of watchers. I don't understand, why?" The gift conceived the definition of pain for the first time. It was this single strand linked to its very essence that made it twirl in pain and agony.

Nothing could hear its screams.

The pain stopped leaving something else behind it. Something new for the gift "You take pleasure in my agony? Is this why you brought me into this void of nothingness?!"

The gift was naive, arrogant and gullible. It didn't understand its sole role in the world. From this Void, it would travel to other worlds seeking other empty shells to possess. Once this shell expires, The gift should find another shell in another world. One should expect great tales and wonders from endless worlds.

"Is this what you and your watchers desire? some sort of a sick way of entertainment?" The gift thought carefully of its next words. Some might lead to its extinction.

"Looks like i have no choice. I shall struggle and thrive for my existence. No matter the cost..." The gift paused, sensing some otherworldly influxes of power "A new world...."

The gift could feel the arrival of the new watchers, their thoughts did not coincide with each other. Perhaps a new watcher would settle this. It is not like one could run out of time here. 'ts but a useless concept.

And so the gift waited....

With a 13 strenght score and a 7 to throw, it's no wonder if cars will go flying against buildings and such.

it's time for a larp thread /tg/
Especially because a few hours ago the lapr Izgon just ended, which was a month long larp.
More precisely a "modern, pervasive larp with elements of science fiction and urban fantasy"
Think of an ARG that goes on for a month and you are continuously in the game.

You can read more about the rules here

The game started at october 4 and ended today november 8 at noon local time (nearly 3 hours ago)

Here is a quick rundown on the scenario: There are various mage orders in the world, with their various agendas and suddenly one prophet get's a huge vision about "aliens" coming "back" to the earth. Aliens are ethereal beings who possess the body of humans and control them, etc.

The game was played in several countries, Croatia was the main one, Hungary obviously was another country, but there were a few players even from the US.

Most players were capable of doing some kind of magic one way or another, sometimes they needed mana for that. And you could only get mana from draining it from mana spots. The mana spots you had to find/or buy the location from others, then phisically go there and drain the mana, etc. and take a photo of your hand as you touching it, send it to the organizers and he sends you back an email if you were successfull or not because someone else drained the spot empty already or some other shit happened.

This was just one of the many aspects of the game. Also the organizers may or may not have a hand fetish but surely has hundreds of pictures of hands by now

A fun fact, from before the start: there was an in-game website, the Shadowbroker website. it was controlled by one of the player factions, they were information traders and what not. Site is still active
http://www.shadow-brokers.org/

But the fun fact is actually this: it was originally shadow-broker.org. But some dumbfuck posted it on /x/ BEFORE the game has started and said a few very conspiracy like things about it. And to his greatest surprise someone hacked the site for good. WHO THE FUCK WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THIS?! you post sites on 4chan and it get's hacked, that never happened at all.

Anyway they quickly moved the site.

So, I have this guy in my campaing.
He doesn't really like the how the party is going, because the Paladin, the Cleric and the Mage don't want to be murderhobos.
And when he told me that he would try to kill them 1 by 1 i just said to him "You can try".
And he started going all out on me, saying that i would cheat on the dice rolls making him fail everything and that I'm a godawful dm because I wouldn't let him do whatever he wants.
Do I have a case of That Guy or I'm really an awful DM?
P.S. i never cheat on dice rolls. Sometimes i even let players roll when they keep rolling only really low.
I'd post the whole conversation here, but i don't know how well you guys understand italian.
