2k17, but whutever.
Where did the "elves are massive sluts and secretly crave orc cock" troupe come from exactly?
Pornography, believe it or not.
It came from perverted people on the internet and their chinese cartoons.
elves have always been sort of free loving hippie types in the imaginations of priurent hornballs. The influx of hentai and other porn featuring elves as hoebags and orcs as cuckolders is just a modern invention, less than 4 years old. At least, this current and specific wave. There have always been elements of fantasy orc rapeyness and elf bitch sluttyness. Like cream and chocolate cookies existed, but Oreos are specifically that.
>>46067470
And yet it only seems to come from hentai. Most elves in western fantasy are either gloomy and sad because their world is comping to an end or xenophobes that can barely keep their shit together.
Vampire bats form strong bonds with other members of their colony. Vampire bats can't be guaranteed to find food every night, so the ones who do find food share it by gorging themselves profusely and regurgitating the excess blood into the mouths of hungry bats in their colony.
As bats are social animals, should it not be possible to domesticate them?
People in a fantasy setting may breed vampire bats to produce narcotic saliva, and train the bats to regurgitate on command into the mouths of decadent nobles.
Really? That's the idea you had when you learned that little fact?
Instead of imagining a hated race of bat people that go on berserking rampages through the forest and occasionally even attacking villages, but who are tender and sweet to their own villagers and can't help the necessities of their diet? The most vile and hated ones who do the most damage to other villages are actually the ones who are the kindest and most dedicated to feeding their young and elderly?
With the PCs forced to face the classic dilemma of deciding whether the genocide of the race is the only way to keep the villages of other races safe?
>>46066786
You're asking people to care about things that are killing others en masse for literally any reason when they are getting paid.
They would kill them all, and be bummed out afterwards, but they'd still kill them all.
Now if the bat-people were not openly hostile to other villages and such and only a select few individuals were, or were defending themselves and decided "Fuck it, they're dead, might as well eat em." then you'd get a better reaction from the moral quandary. It's easy enough to play off the "whole villages slaughtered by the bat-people" because of superstition and general "racism" towards them.
>>46066844
What if they ordinarily just attack things like deer and moose, and rarely actually kill them, but do drink a ghastly amount of blood? And, when they realize that they're overfeeding on the forest fauna, to ensure they don't actually kill too many of the animals they start attacking farms for their large animals?
And, on occasion they wind up in a blood frenzy, either killing the forest/farm animals or attacking villagers?
I do think they need to be actually attacking villagers, but what if they very rarely, if ever, actually killed them, instead drinking a non-lethal amount of blood?

Hey /tg/ do any of you have experience with hero system? The system looks solid but I'm wondering if it can be easily exploited with only 200 points if someone didn't enforce the active point cap on powers. What are some examples of such exploits?
Sorry OP. You've fallen in love with a system nobody plays.
>>46064716
It can be abused on a horrible min/maxing way unlike anything you've ever played.
I've not played 6th ed, only up to 5th revised (FREd) so some abuses may no longer be valid.
Ranged attacks can be "spread" to either increase the number of targets hit, or to increase your OCV. On Energy Blast its -1d6 for each +1 OCV or each additional hex he spreads across.
200 points is 40d6. Drop a little for increased Endurance.
Martial artists with duplication and high Teamwork get stupid fast.
Invisible Bricks are a bucket of rape if the other characters don't have enhanced senses, or the right senses, depending on what you're invisible to.
Entangles, with Sticky, and Takes No Damage From Attacks isn't bad by itself, but if you've got a sniper in the party...
Area Effect and Autofire combine into an ugly mess.
>>46064716
Oh yeah, Movement powers and Desolidification with Useable As An Attack are the supreme dick move.
Stat me, my lowly servants.

I'm sorry no one is paying attention to your RPG thread, but that's no reason to spam a retarded Stat Me thread. If anything, this is exactly the kind of dumb move that gave KBMD or whatever such a bad name by having it associated with shill-like spammers.

Kuru was kind enough to direct you to a giant monster you can kill and give to your Mom as an apology for breaking your house. She even said it has the bonus of being poisonous. Or venomous. You really can't keep the two straight.
She sent you out to the western side of the mountains by your house, and you quickly located the "big sandy spot" Kuru mentioned. You dropped a deer on it to lure the monster out, again as Kuru suggested.
You dropped a whole deer.
Most of a deer...
At least half of a deer. Look, there is some deer on the sandy pit and it lured the monster out. It will never know that it could've gotten a whole deer out of the deal. Also you got hungry mid-flight.
MASTERED [IN-FLIGHT SNACK]
Still, you might have a problem. This monster is significantly larger than expected. Like three times your size, larger than expected. It's closer to Mom sized than you like in your meals. Okay, that's a lie you'd totally eat something that big.
The beast that came rushing out of the sand to snatch up your half deer is also pretty crab like. If crabs were longer, and had whippy tails that dripped something nasty from a huge stinger. You're not sure to approach this.

Last we left off, we had, with support from the elves fought off an orcish warhost, unfortunately the victory came at high cost, with half our army dead and many more wounded.
After being slaughtered and abandoned by their leader, the remaining orcs scattered in all directions, fear overcoming them. Our men have captured several fleeing orcs
Whats should be done with them?
A. Execute them
B. Turn them
C. Attempt to enthrall them(roll)
D. March them back to our settlement
E. Have Camilla absorb their souls, adding them to her own power

What's your groups policy on booze while gaming? Little bit for fun, drunkeness as the standard, teetotalers only?
>>46063526
I find GMing a lot easier when tipsy (I improv a lot so having a confidence boost to just run with my spur-of-the-moment ideas and to throw myself unashamedly into NPCs is nice) and usually drink a bit when playing (RPGs or berdgerms) since gaming is about all the socialisation I can fit into a week and I like drinking with my friends.
Most of the other players drink too, some don't ever, neither kind have a problem with the other. But this is Australia, our drinking culture is strong.
I tend not to drink while gaming, although I've had some amazing times getting pissed and playing beer and pretzels stuff or party games.
Also, whenever I run Maid RPG I make sure I am consistently drunk. It's the only way.
I play most of my games in a pub and we always get a couple pints and a meal before and during the game.
No one is retarded enough to get wasted and it's honestly a great setting.
I don't GM when I'm intoxicated mostly.
What does /tg/ think of the latest KSBD RPG update?
Major changes:
> different names for strength skill etc
> different stats for ranged and melee attacks have been removed for a single 'fight' skill using body
>use heat to avoid disaster
>actually added a move for creating items
>player 1 characters actually have a choice of an ability now
>followers not as shit
Most importantly - lore section.
>>46063293
yup, was getting to that
>DAEMONIAC
>What follows is a repository of the ancient and respected lore of Throne, the Red City.
>The Art
>What could be called magic in throne is known as the Art, and it is generally split into sub arts: Red, White, and Black. Using it is the 'art' of realizing that the entire universe is an illusion cast by the Flame Immortal, which permeates all things. It is often explained as the practice of lying to the universe convincingly enough that it becomes true. As such, it is explicitly vocal in nature, and heavily reliant on the practitioner’s will for things to become true.
>To use the Art, the practitioner simply refines their will into an cutting edge and speaks aloud, lying about the nature of the universe. “This is not an apple,” they might say, “But a plum.” The apple then becomes a plum, of course, if that’s what they prefer. The Art is described by many sorcerers as making their own small alterations to a story as it's being told.
>In theory it is very simple, but learning the ways to force your will on the universe and the right way to speak could take anywhere from a single month to a thousand years. The universe is sustained by the pure flame of the Gods themselves, and it takes a powerful and confident will to change that. This is evidenced by the fact that there are hundreds of schools of sorcery, but very few real sorcerers.
>>46063403
>Types of Arts
>The Red Art is associated with changing the existing physical universe or nonanimate matter. For example, someone could use the Red Art to transfigure bare stone into gold, to warp a wall into a door, or to bend the illusion of life into inanimate objects. Equally, a practitioner could use the same principles to harm by igniting the air into bolts of fire or animating swords to fight on their own (collectively called pyromancy). Predictably, it is the most common and versatile art by far. One important aspect of the Red Art is it needs materials - it must transfigure, bend, or warp something that is already there (for example, bending the dust in the air into an illusion of life). The closer the base material to the desired result, the easier the Art is. Iron into gold is far easier
than water into gold, for example.
>The White Art is associated with changing the self or the self's perceptions. Common uses include dividing the universe to teleport short or long distances, divining hidden knowledge or casting your perception across dimensions, and aligning your soul flame (or atum) to physically transform your own body. Practitioners can shrug off bullets and blades like water, leap incredibly distances, or see through twenty-foot thick walls. The White Art is extremely hard to master and rarely sees use except by grand masters and very powerful or prodigious sorcerers. It is rumored that the ultimate use of the White Art is to turn back time, but this has never been observed.
How does /tg/ feel about characters that are non combative/ contribute very little in combat situations?
Pic related. Playing a mechanic kid in my SW Edge game. Almost good enough to be the skeleton key, but any time there's a fire fight I pretty much run for cover and stay hidden.

Boring and pointless in a combat-focused game. I usually let them die.

If your group depends heavily on combat to make it through the campaign, it's a bad campaign
Currently playing a Paramedic in a post-apoc game set in rural Pennsylvania shortly after a societal breakdown.
He started out with basically no combat skills, but he's been picking some stuff up from the Iraq veteran and the cop, at least enough to put rounds in the right direction for suppressing fire.

You slip into Andrea's dream as your own dreamscape repels you, clinging to its borders to avoid bouncing endlessly through the dream realm. You're not entirely sure if there's an actual realm of dreams, but you're fairly certain that you don't want to spend the next few hours ricocheting off random dreams to find out. Besides being a pointless waste of time, you're fairly certain that if you bumped into someone living in the dream realm they'd have a few questions about your endeavors there.
You swiftly find yourself manifesting in her dream, in the middle of what appears to be a tea party. It's like a scene from Alice in Wonderland. You're dressed as the Mad Hatter, Athena is Alice and Andrea is the March Hare, checking her watch from time to time. After a moment of concentration you manage to grasp the plot: Athena is the bumbling, naïve girl and Andrea is the one who inadvertently led her down the rabbit hole. Andrea is worrying about having brought up her crush on the mysterious stranger she saw and the resulting fallout, and the senseless dream is her mind's way of sorting things out.

Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.
Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

Alright people, let's try to find interestings powers and drawback for a superhero/supervillain.
Something beyond the overdone Flying Brick or Time-Control, something original.
The power level isn't really a thing, so feel free to come up with powers as absurdly overpowered as you like.
Let me begin:
>Hostility Power-Up: this power makes you stronger, faster, more resilient, more perceptive the more people are trying to kill you. Drawback is the small range of the power. This mean that in a straight up combat you will wreck shit, but fighting against a robot or anything not human will get you in a hospital or worse. This also means that when in a catastrophy (tsunami, tornado, volcano erupting) you are just an average dude.
>>46059833
>Power: You have super strength
>Drawback: You do not have super bone density
>>46059833
>Speed/Mass inversion: You can change your mass, but as you gain mass you lose speed and inverse.
>>46059833
You can turn yourself invisible, but only when nobody is around to see you
>You write a setting.
>suddenly notices that you have a passage which don't make sense..
>Now the whole setting no longer makes sense and I can remove thousands of words.
I am a moron.
Adapt, you dingus.
>>46058749
>Crying-Frog-Meme-02.jpg
>I am a moron.
Yes.
>>46058749
How much of the setting did you write? Because literally the only things you should concern yourself is thus;
>two paragraphs on cosmology
>list of deities or religions, include holy weapons and domains
>List of nations
>Three paragraphs per nation; one describing history, one describing culture, one describing geography
>List capitals, two noteworthy landmarks, three major regions, and at least three major NPCs per kingdom
>Write impetus for adventure and include it as the first page
There, that's all you need. Everything else will come out through roleplay!
I'm running a maid rpg session tonight and am feeling extremely uninspired.
