Yeah, makes sense.

I largely enjoyed it, mostly from the creative use of superpowers aspect. Was a bit unrelenting though, no cool off periods between crises.

Ending arc was fucking awful though. Largely tossed out everything that had been built up in favour of a villain with literally no personality rampaging through the setting killing everything until they literally kill him by showing him pictures of his dead wife until he curls up in the foetal position to be executed.

the ending wasn't TOO bad, and the epilogues tied basically everything up leaving a Sequel open and available, but still tying all the major details of the story up in a nice neat package.

and, quite likely, they'd have needed to kill Scion eventually or else risk the superman effect...

A knight saves the princess from a dragon. A mysterious warrior, who lost his memory. An evil vizier, plotting behind good king's back.

You can stop rolling your eyes. We all know that those are the most boring, overused cliches, literally bread and butter of fantasy. Or... Are they? Those cliches actually came to be so long ago, that no one takes them seriously anymore. Every time you see a twist on them - a princess kidnaps a dragon, both vizier and king are actually secretly shitty, and it's been a long fucking time since I ever saw any villainous necromancers, rising undead armies to do their bidding. Or any dark overlord whatsoever, in fact. Every time I see a hint of this stuff, I expect a twist - and I get one, every fucking time, most times those twists are easily predictable.

Have cliches been forgotten for so long, they have stopped being cliches, /tg/? What's your experience with this?

Don't know anyone else but I have only saved a princess from a dragon once, and it was in a joke campaign.

Shit man I just want some chivalry. Let me slay some dragons, rescue some maidens and restore the rightful king to the throne.

Clichés are tools used to tell a story. They etablish the roles and relationships of each character. They alow you to enter the story without reading pages upon pages of background and motivations.
Of course they can become overused. Society evolves and so do most of the stories. At some point you see only the cliché, and not the setting it's based upon (when I say vizir, you probably think jaffar and not generic counsellor of kings in a mid-eastern setting, redefining the trope).
Stories of today use common tropes that will probably be considered awfully boring in the future.
Also, concerning forgotten clichés, you can reuse some mythology and your players will propably find it very original as long as there hasn't been a movie about it recently. Same for fairy tales. Russian ones are pretty distinct and tend to make interesting adventures. Look up the mourning vigil for the witch, for example.

On my recent experience, I used some old folktales' boogeymen as opponents for a horror game, shit was so cash.

I am just wondering why do you guys play traditional games when there are cheaper alternatives like you know video games. What's the appeal of playing table top games? It all seems primitive to me and yet I don't get why it's apparently so popular.

Have you ever been playing a video game and thought, "I wish I could see what's off the edge of the map," or "Why can't I just talk things out with these guys?" or "Actually, I would rather be working for the other side." In vidya, you can't step outside what the developer has provided. In a tabletop game, you have the developer right there to say, "OK, let's work out what happens!"

You are Mia Stitcher. After some cruel Adventurer’s attacked your home, you accepted a deal with a newly resurrected God. After getting your revenge, you’ve agreed to revive the other Old Gods and become their prophet.

You were traversing the underground, led on by a group of Goblins mistaking you for a sign from one of their dieties. Urged on by a rescued sacrifice, you went to a dilapidated temple that seemed to be cursed. The Goblins couldn’t enter, but with your new found powers you passed by without incident.

You step through the gateway into the large antechamber. Though the dust is thick and walls are crumbling in a few places, it is still in much better condition than the exterior. A closer examination shows that many of the walls are inlaid with very small crystals and bits of gold and silver.

The the center of the room is a huge statue of a thick, bearded man. At least, you think it is a man until you get closer and see that it is not human at all. This is a Dwarven Ruin. The Goblins must have moved into an abandoned Dwarven City. It makes sense, and the Goblins seem to at least be doing well enough. But now you are curious as to why THIS building is protected by magic, but no where else is.

The room splits off into Two Hallways. One is rather plain, and seems to have a few open rooms scattered about. The other hallway has more of the intricate designs, statues line the hallway as far down as your light can go and you think you see another large room about 100 feet away.

Monks fall behind other classes in damage output at higher levels, but get very tanky. Open Hand monks especially, who get a pseudo-Lay on Hands at level six.

can someone explain the weirdness of fake cards to me?
doesn't matter if fake pokemon, or yugioh cards (And i'm sure magic as well), all of them are weird as fuck. If you're going to fake cards, why not try to make them look legit? why the weird translation errors? why the weird design? why are there even cards who aren't based on actual ones?

It ended with the entire city in flames, and the bodies of the citizens, an army of goblins, and dozens of owl bears and bandits just.. everywhere.

Adhering to the holy trinity of bolter, melta, and flamer (in the form of heavy flamer, heavy bolter, and multi-melta as well) I add a frag cannon and some kind of ordinance weapon (I'm thinking it incurs some kind of soul blaze effect that cooks crew inside a hit transport, or something like that)

Rework Acts of Faith. Either they're one use but don't require a leadership test or they're multi-use and do. Otherwise they're just shittier versions of guardsmen orders.

Celestians are no longer "close combat specialists" give them a role somewhere near sternguards with ammunition choices. Since they're sisters, incendiary ammunition and anti psyker bullshit. The condemnor boltgun was a cool idea but basically useless, give a celestian squad an ammunition type that does the same thing and call it a day.

Sisters are best known for being able to incite mobs of expendable zealots within the local populace. Give them access to tarpit units of imperial cultists with the ability to firebomb themselves for maximum allah ackbar.

They're the militant arm of the Ordo Hereticus for the emprah's sake. The should be designed to fuck over psykers. New commander traits for: 1. any time you deny the witch, the caster suffers perils. 2. Flamers and heavy flamers now have Purging Flames: if a psyker is caught in the template, force a perils roll. For any psyker removed from play this way, deal 1d3 more hits to other models inside the template.

SOB squads get grenade and rocket launchers, as usual with incendiary options.

Airmobile options for fucks sake.

They have literally no superheavy options. Just put tracks on a cathedral and fill it with flamethrowers. Done. How fucking hard was that?

I need to kill off one of my PC's. Here's the problem - I promised her several sessions ago that when and if she dies, she will die laughing. I also don't want the other players to be able to tell that I deliberately set out to kill someone, so the cause of death needs to look like it's something that could have been avoided.

Ideas?
