You get to add one thing to the next D&D movie in order to ensure it's awesome.
But you also have to add/take away something from the perspective of a Hollywood Executive.
>Sphere of Annihilation serves a major plot point
>No monstrous races as major characters because the CG would be too expensive

Jeremy Irons reprises his role, but now he's an evil Lich.
Jeremy Irons reprises his role, but now he's an evil Lich made completely in CGI with dialogue written by Metzen.
The main character is a Kitstune and the movie uses the book of weaboo fightan magic.
However, it's animated and aimed at kids.

so what was the one awesome thing?
Make a /tg/ related character based on the name of the above poster.

Forgeworld will cease production of the old Mk IV Dreadnoughts, both neutral and faction, as well as some other things such as the Macharius Omega and Grot bomb.

Discuss? Are they making new molds, or has the 30k stuff simply outsold it into obscurity?
I guess GW manager responsible for squatting things got into frenzy and WHFB was not enough for him.

I know that Sonic Dreads are actually quite popular, so they're likely reworking the Chaos Dreads into being much more in line with Helbrutes, so as Legions can get appropriate ones.So I hope.
>>46389591
>so they're likely reworking the Chaos Dreads into being much more in line with Helbrutes,
You mean aesthetics-wise? Seem reasonable, but it's odd that they'd also stop making the loyalist and neutral variants then.
miniatures are expensive. are there any good sci-fi wargames out there, scale of 40k (but i'd also like to hear about smaller scale), with either cheap models or easy to proxy yourself? indy or bigtime, whatever.

bump.
there's like a million homebrew RPGs, am i crazy for believing there's the same in wargames?
>>46389493
Unfortunately, homebrew wargame making often requires making models for the game too, so their aren't so many.
Hey, /tg/, the topic is a bit unconventional, but today being as today is, I hope you'll pitch in to help.
Someone at our party threw a joke today about ending the campaign and playing something else instead. Someone suggested "ponyfinder" and a few jokes where thrown around.
We're not going to do it.
I still want to run the joke to the ground and arrive with some character and pretend that I thought this whole ponyfinder mention was serious business.
It's been a while since I looked at Pathfinder, and it will take me a while to figure it out.
I'd like to bring a character nonetheless. The problem is, I have a fire mage at the game, and I'd like to bring something similar.
Without knowing much about Pathfinder, I'd aim at 6th level character or so.
Is it possible to grab some sort of fire magic, including very high fire resistance (or immunity?) with Pathfinder feats?
I've found this - related - image.
Is it possible to use the base pony class to do it? Using a unicorn would be what one would expect for a fire image?
>>46388997
They jumped the shark with Twilicorn; the show has not had a single decent episode or new character since.

How was Yu Gi Oh played in set 1, at the top level?
>>46388484
By small children and pedophiles - just like Pokemon.
>>46388925
Sure, sure, I hear you, but I mean in terms of actual decks/strategies.
The first set?
3 Pot of Greed, 3 Monster Reborn, 3 Raigeki. A ton of Normal Monsters + Staples + Summoned Skull Beat.
The actual competitive scene didn't start until ~2004
I recently got introduced to Dungeon World by a new group I joined. I was able to get into the game right from the start and was blown away how simple the rules were and how it still allowed for lots of cool stuff to happen.
I don't often see DW mentioned on /tg/ but I think it gets bad rep. Can anyone explain to me why, what's so bad about the system?
Anybody?
>>46388392
As a quick general rule, if you come here often, you should know we're a fairly slow board. I've seen posts that took 20 minutes to write on this board.
That aside, Dungeon World:
There's three main camps for people who don't like Dungeon World.
1. People who don't like Powered by the Apocalypse systems. There's a wide range of players for whom "simple rules" is not an attraction, but rather a flaw. Or people who prefer less personally powerful protagonists than your average PbtA character. This is purely a matter of personal choice, and is completely up to them and their preferences.
2. Some people don't like what it DID to tge PbtA system. If you look at a lot of the other systems made by the same people, you'll see that they have fewer stats, and MUCH less HP. Some don't like the changes to the basic system that were forced to make it fit the D&D mystique. This is also a matter of personal preference, and is completely up to those people's taste.
The last group is much less numerous, but when it shows up, things go bad in a hurry. Basically, about...3 years ago or so, Dungeon World was a year or so old, off its Kickstarter birth, and was starting to get popular on /tg/. Specifically, a couple people got on /tg/ and said some extremely glowing things about it. And they quoted things like the DMs guide, where one guy states that DW was 'what he had expected D&D to be like." These comments were...upsetting to some. They seemed arrogant. Numerous. They were the cheerful Whos singing their Christmas songs. So these posters lashed out. They took both of the previous camp's complaints, and presented them as facts. They attacked any design decision that didn't match their idea of "a perfect game", which was frequently titled toward the crunch heavy/simulationist theme.
Of course, many of these people didn't actually feel this way. They were just trolling because this is 4chan, and it's fun. Some did, and were VEHEMENT about it.
(brief cont)
>>46388516
There came a time around mid 2014 that it had become IMPOSSIBLE to make a thread about Dungeon World without one of these people showing up, and between their claims, and the fervent outcry from a fanbase feeling more and more attacked, many threads just exploded in showers of shitty arguments.
Because of that, the number of threads about DW dropped off, and many took a step back from the game, rather than get involved in shit like that.
It's been mostly quiet since. People who like it, like it. People who don't because of the first two reasons, just don't play it. But /tg/ has a lingering bad taste in its mouth from that time. So we're a little more likely to dismiss the game rather than praise it or deride it, just so we can avoid shit like what happened back in the day.
I'm getting ready to DM for the first time. I'm gonna do a generic one-off campaign I found while I work on world building my own setting. What sort of advice for a newfag can /tg/ offer? It'll be 5e.

-Don't do riddles.
-Give the PCs a reason to work together,
-Allow UA
-Ban the Ranger. It can't pull its own weight.
-There are three types of plans
1) Those the players destroy
2) Those the players figure out
3) Those you will actively pretend exist
Never, EVER express dissappointment when players don't follow an actual plan/satisfaction when they do. Always, ALWAYS pretend players are following/destroying a plan when you actually have no clue what happened. You're in the business of A) Making your players feel competent and smart and B) Coming across as incredibly well-prepared, tough and competent.
-Demand backstory
-Use backstory
-Don't kill NPCs the PCs have as part of their backstory
-Do feature NPCs the PCs have as part of their backstory in some meaningful way
-Never put your PCs into the way of an NPC you're not prepared to have them kill without proper protection
-Use the Inspiration system. It's not incredibly effective, but it does some interesting things
-Players don't read rulebooks. Explain what you want a player to do in full.
-Only let one player each do a non-combat check
-If a player fails a non-combat check, narrate it as the challenge being unexpectedly harder than expected rather than the PC suddenly being inexplicably incompetent. For example, don't say that a thief just kind of drops his lockpick but that the lock seems to have rusted-shut. Again. You're in the business of making your players feel competent.
-Same goes for combat
-Listen to your player's OOC speculation and always find a way to prove them half-right. You're in the business of making your players feel competent and smart.
-Be confident
-Have fun.

We've all got them, ideas for settings or campaigns we'd love to run or play in but haven't found the time, effort, system etc. to make it happen. So:
>What is/are your pet campaign idea/s?
>Why haven't you run it yet?
I'll get us started, been sitting on the following: >One last hurrah of 'heroes' before the encroaching anonymous uniformity of the modern age renders them obsolete.
>Tragic ending required, preferably a last stand or Pyrrhic victory in the rain and blood soaked streets of the centre of the New World (whether geographical, economic, political or whatnot).
I've not yet run it because I've no idea what system to run it in (need something that blends heroic style combat for the heroes with more grounded realistic stuff for the modern soldiers that will oppose them), nor the time lately to figure out where exactly I'd take the original hook.
>>46384715
I'm slowly creating a setting using magic systems from BQ and TQ kind of a crusades meets ww1 with magic and magitech

Or both.

How would you go about writing her redemption arc, and what card would you make to signify this change?
>>46383883
I'd like it to be natural and progress over a few blocks but since they're pushing the Jacetice League so hard it'll probably happen in Spoopy Moon via a Helm of Opposite Alignment or corruption by Emrakul or Marit Lage

Ever. This includes drinking out of it.

A cursed ring of water walking.
The sorcerer gets a ring, defects it is magical, and puts it on right then and there.
The good news is that he is always under the effect of water walking. The bad part is that it more or less laminated him forever. When water touches him, it beads up along his skin/clothes and just runs off. He can't get wet in any way. Damage from water based attacks are changed to bludgeoning damage, he hits bodies of water as if it was dirt, it has a bit of give but he can't go under it or break the surface tension.
For the rest of his life, he used magic to replace water in all uses in his life, from drinking to bathing.
Dungeon Masters and players alike: Do you rehearse lines for the upcoming game in your characters voice when you know you're alone? With absolutely no risk of getting caught?
If you don't, what methods do you use to get into character? Do you even roleplay enough to bother?
>inb4 autistic
I usually work out a couple things that I'm likely to say in my head throughout the week without really thinking about it, but that's as far as I go. There's really no accounting for how our sessions might go so it would just be a waste to plan too much

>Do you rehearse lines for the upcoming game in your characters voice when you know you're alone? With absolutely no risk of getting caught?
No, I rehearse in public in full costume to test for audience reaction. At times I feel that my range is a bit limited, as I only seem to get fear and disgust reliably, but perfecting one's craft is a lifelong journey.
