Have any of your games pulled a "the bbeg was one of the pcs the whole time" ? If so, how did it go? I have a player who wants to go in this direction and I'm not sure how much it should be encouraged.

>>
We've had BBEG PCs before, but only once I can think where it was secret and built up. It's hard to pull something like that off when everyone is around the same table, without a heavy level of involvement and help from the DM.

Also, I kind of feel it can be more fun if other players are aware because either they can plan or try to counteract the other PC or even consider joining or helping them. Only shit players will freak out and immediately resort to hostility upon finding out, out of character.

I'm afraid the rest of the party will find out and I'll have to split game time between the evil pc and the rest of the party
>>
>>46587439
You can do stuff with that PC outside of the game. Not like running separated sessions, but talking with them before and after about stuff like what they would like to have happen and what their goals are for the coming session or what goes on behind the scenes or during downtime between sessions.

>TIME AVAILABLE (TIME ZONE PLEASE)
We play like 11EST-8PMEST on Sundays. If you can't make it the whole day that's understandable; we're aware it's a long time to sit and play, but it's always fun and if you can only be there for part of the time we'll figure it out.

>VOICE OR TEXT
Text. We use Roll20, and Skype for OOC.

lex.marion on skype, there's a lot of things that pop up apparently. My name is just Lex and my avatar is an illustration of a girl. Leave your skype info if you can't find it.

>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
1) Palladium is a super simple system to learn. If you're a first-timer with it, don't sweat. We'll hold your hand and you'll pick it up fast.
2) We're a group of 5 friends who play a ton of games together. Right now we've just started a low-power superhero game, but it varies what we play from week to week, usually we vote for it. We also have a high-power hero game, a modern-day supernatural game, and a horror house game going. If you're only in it for the low-power super game, that's cool I guess, just know we won't play that every week.
3) We talk a lot in our skype OOC group, both about the game and things that are not the game. Just be prepare to either /alertsoff or join in and hang out with us, preferably the latter because we're not cliquish assholes.
4) Our games are very narrative-based, and there's faaar more RPing than combat. Murderhoboing is not our style, figuring shit out via storytelling is.

>There is one primary source of spirit stones: the old Eldar homeworlds now known as Crone Worlds. Acquiring new spirit stones is extremely dangerous because the Crone Worlds exist within the Eye of Terror. In Eldar Mythology the spirit stones were created by Vaul from the Tears of Isha. This is taken as a metaphor for the crystallization of the psychic energies of the Eye.

So how is this supposed to work? Presumably not every mum and dad eldar are upto the job of jumping to a Crone World to harvest spirit stone for their kid. Do craftworlds have special away teams that specialise in raiding Crone Worlds like bank jobs?
25 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
I always assumed this was one of the tasks that would be taken up by Eldar pirates - the wandering bands of adventurers dissatisfied with Craftworld life who seek danger and plunder.

Though not all pirate captains would be willing to make such a hazardous trip, I would guess that craftworlders would pay handsomely for recovered stones, or even sponsor pirate crews on trips rather than sending their own precious forces.

Rangers/outcasts, corsairs and dark kin usually visit such places for them to trade for other shit. You'll have to get a troupe of Harlequins to guide you and look after you though.

You are the head researcher at a government facility. Your sole responsibility is to teach the world's first autonomous AI, nicknamed Pandora, about life, the world and her existence.
Previously you worked out what you'd do for your date with Babsy, deciding on a nice nature walk and picnic. What's the worst that could happen there?
You also discussed and finalized the upcoming meeting between the two android siblings with Pandora, deciding to have it happen after you get back from your little vacation. Pandora seems to be warming up a little to the whole idea, but there is uncertainty as to her role in your little "family", or if it even is an actual family or something previously unheard of.
Welcome back to Pandora Quest!

Your alarm goes off and you throw yourself out of bed. Honestly you've been awake for almost an hour now, unable to sleep due to nerves and going over every possible scenario in your head. Today is the day you leave. The day you will be thrust into the one thing no one who went through life as "that geeky guy" is ever prepared for; your first date with the hot girl.

You spend every second you can getting everything right. Acquisitions was polite enough to leave your order at your door, along with a cooler full of various picnic items and a note that says "12:1 in favor of you coming back with a slap, 14:1 for something broken, 5:1 a talk with HR, 2:1 for a restraining order and/or court summons. Good luck. <3"

Yeah, thanks.

You have some time before takeoff, anything you want to do before you leave? Or just go wait in the main hall like a nervous idiot until it's time?

===============

You are Prince Meirion auk Gwyrren, the only sane man in a royal family with dubious concepts of strategy, justice, taxation, and governance in general. You have made it your goal in life to keep your family on the throne and your head firmly attached to your body.

You recently learned that a noble of Olstren is preparing to attack your home country of Gwyrddarfordir. Culann mac Ferrid, son of the Duke of Machrain, wishes to claim his own territory in order to further his courtship of his country's princess, Reagan mac Connaught. Said princess had six other suitors who died under various "mysterious circumstances" and she has offered to help you make Culann mac Ferrid unlucky number seven in exchange for some small personal considerations.

As a result, you now know how many troops mac Ferrid has under his command, where they're being deployed, what passwords his spies use, and so on. The only limit to how badly you can ruin his plans is your imagination.

"We can definitely work with this," Olwen says. "It's just a question of how much effort we want to put into it."

"I have to ask," Myrddin says, "how did you even get this?"

>"I don't want to talk about it."

1. What are some good ways of justifying FTL travel in a scifi setting?

2. What are some interesting/likely ways for futuristic space warfare to work?

3. How do you explain artificial gravity / how does your setting change without it?

Read the Ark Royal series. Self published on Amazon, so the writing is pretty standard, but the story itself is good and the space warfare is really fleshed out. Quite enjoyed those books.

>1. What are some good ways of justifying FTL travel in a scifi setting?
Wormholes or pre-human alien artifacts that have been reverse engineered.

>2. What are some interesting/likely ways for futuristic space warfare to work?
Pretty much boils down to "I'm the author and this is my fetish." It's much more practical to attack crew and commandeer ships at ports.

>3. How do you explain artificial gravity / how does your setting change without it?
See above. Otherwise, don't bother explaining it unless it's relevant.

You're telling a story, not showing how clever you are.

Greetings, new leader. You and many others are standing at the brink of civilization. Your people have lifted themselves from simple farmers to a simple, yet thriving civilization. Yet you are surrounded by barbaric tribes and other civilizations preying on your fertile soil. Will you lead your people to greatness?

Rules:
You can roll 4d10s every turn. Each d10 can be used to do an action. Aditionally, d10's can be combined to make an action more succesfull, at the cost of another action.
Example:
1: Research irrigation
2: Build a Port in [Capital City]
3+4: Recruit infantry

Diplomatical interaction with other players/AI countries does not require rolling. Things such as establishing trade routes do

Stats:
Every civ has 5 stats: Wealth, Population, Technology, Magic and Troops
Wealth: The combined worth of your resources. Used to fund warfare, research, construction and other things. For example: 500 (Silver, Emeralds, Exotic Beasts)
Population: The combined population of your civilization. Once it hits zero, your have lost and your country is removed from the game.
Technology: All things you have resourced. Influences what you can do. Example: Irrigation, Iron Working, Crossbows
Magic: All Magic you possess. Example: Carthography Magic, Blessed by [DIETY]
Troops: All your units, and their combined base value. base value is used to determine the outcome of fights. Example: 3 Barbarian Skirmishers (3), 1 Barbarian Cavalry (2), 1 Dragon Rider (10), Total (15)

Cont. of rules in next post.

Hello
>>
>>46566768
War:
Battles are akin to those in Risk.
Once you go to war with another country, you enter war mode. First, the attacker has to roll Xd6, where in X is the amount of base value the attacker wants to use. Can not be more than their max base value. Then the defender rolls Yd6, where in Y is the amount of base value the defender wants to use. Can not be more than their max base value. Then, rolls are sorted, from high to low. The next step can be explained best with an example:
Attacker chose to roll 4d6: 6, 4, 3, 2
Defender chose to roll 5d6: 6, 6, 3, 1, 1
In this exchange, the attacker loses three base value, and the defender one.

Every roll stands for 1 base value. For every higher roll from the attacker, the defender loses one base value. The opposite is also true. When tied, the defender wins that exchange. The lowest extra rolls (1 in this case) are discarded.

Please namefag with a tripcode so I know there's no fakefags.

Technology is early Antiquity, think Mesapotamia, Early Egypt etc.

Other than the war, the game is very rule light, and rule of cool can often win over rule of logic.
Ask any questions to me.

I don't have time to fully commit today, but may I suggest one "AI" nation that'll act as a rouge threat? It was a pretty fun aspect in the last game it was incorporated.
