Can a setting have dependency issues?
Depends on the setting.
>>46628390
What does that even mean?
EPIC
How does faith work in a setting where the existence of ones God is a confirmed fact?
>>46627855
Faith empowers gods.
Lack of faith disempowers gods.
If there aren't enough people that believe in a god, the god vanishes from existence or ceases to be a god.
It's not exactly rocket surgery, yknow.
>>46627855
Have you tried not playing DnD?
But seriously, if you're a GM, never do this. NEVER confirm the existence of gods, ever.
>>46627855
Faith is connection to the god. God doesn't need worshipers or sacrifices but they might provide spiritual power to his servants like clerics, prophets and angels.

We need reason for founding, why they ended up on that shitty planet, who the old ship belonged to, what sort of society lives on their world, how old they are, famous events that made them and their beliefs as they are, famous people both historical and living and a brief description of their religious scripture.

Why did Khorne grant daemonhood to a librarian?
Why is using psychic powers bad, while using psychically enchanted weapons is perfectly fine?
>>46626778
He didn't elevate Kyras because he was a powerful psyker, he uplifted him because he was one of his greatest servants when it came to delivering blood and mindless, barbaric carnage.
>>46626778
>Why is using psychic powers bad, while using psychically enchanted weapons is perfectly fine?
Because killing enemy with your mind is nerd shit, but killing enemy with a sweet axe which is on fire and screams with voices of thousands of tortured souls is metal as fuck.
>>46626778
Troll thread confirmed.
Kyras was being possessed by Maledictus. The daemonically possessed Kyras was granted power after he offered an entire system and a craftworld to Khorne. Also daemon Kyras did not use a single psychic ability in the game.
You would know that if you were a spaz of a troll.
From the ancient tomes of "Hey guys, what if we tried to use RuneQuest to run superheroes?!" all the way through Elric and Cthulhu (and that one Ringworld RPG nobody played) all the way to the modern day:

I tried to make a BRP setting once. It was one of my greatest and most achieved pursuits. It would have been amazing, but my girlfriend at the time talked me out of it.
You have made me sad, OP. The system is solid though.

I once ran a mashup of Call of Cthulhu and Stormbringer (along with some homebrewing). It was a medieval-ish fantasy game that took place in dream realms. Whenever a player's character died, he had to make a sort of system shock roll or die in the real world too. I don't remember the precise consequences if they made the roll, but they would be significantly weakened for a while.
They were hired by wizard to go on a quest to find some great thing, and I had planned for shit to get more twisted and monstrous the deeper they went into their dreams, but the game fell apart due to internal tensions within the playing group and no small amount of window-licking within the game. For instance, the wizard had arranged for the PCs to stay in a village of a warrior people he had allied with. A minor argument got out of hand and a new-ish player had her character attack a villager with very little provocation. This resulted in the party holing themselves up in a tent and threatening to shoot anybody who came in. The leader of the village then showed up and tried to smooth things over. From outside, he asked if the PCs would put away their weapons and let him enter the tent so they could parley. Everybody said "yes", but when he pulled aside the tent flap, the PC who had started the whole crisis said "you're so naive!" and tried to shoot him with her crossbow. He managed to dodge and that, accompanied by the return of the wizard, is the only thing that saved the party from being overwhelmed by angry warriors ten times their number.
Sadly, I never really got around to introducing any of the Lovecraftian horrors I had planned to, so the game was more Stormbringer minus any setting-specific Elric stuff.
"It's a great system but we never got to play it" seems to be a sadly common condition with this.
Anyone ever use this and get a miniature from them? Thinking of getting one, but not sure what to expect.

Pic not related
Really, you should only use it if it's for a very specific figure. Like a friend used it for a heavily armored gnome on a wolf mount. But if you need like a human or elf wizard, or pretty much anything, you should just go to reaper minis.
They're pretty expensive, and I heard they were kind of weak, but they've just recently introduced a new "dark plastic" that's supposed to be much stronger.
Yeah, the price is what is keeping me from doing it, especially since it will be one of the first miniatures I am getting.
Is there a place I can get like parts to make my own?

Cute waifu, dude. The eyes are kinda unnerving, though.
What is /tg/'s opinion on LARPing?
its really interesting to me, and i would want to join my local group but from what i see it just looks like a bunch of neckbeards hitting each other with foam poles in the park
This thread deserves more.
Afaik, larp varies a ton from place to place. Some places (mostly in yurop) are more akin to 'medieval paintballing' where you're swinging around metal and people WILL get injured. Others are more neckbeards in foam armour throwing beanbags.
I'm real mixed about it, it seems to walk the cringe event horizon pretty tightly.
>>46625295
Isnt the former called re-enactment while the latter is "that stuff those swaty fat guys go do in a forest"?

Why are you interested in joining a larp if this is how you see it?

How does this affect the world and/or your adventuring endeavours?

How old is this Ork? How long does it take for an Ork to reach 'Adult' size? What's their average life span? I assume with the exception of Warbosses and Warlords, 10 years would be ancient by Ork standards.
>How old is this Ork?
No idea.
>How long does it take for an Ork to reach 'Adult' size?
That's also pretty ambiguous, what do you mean by "adult size"?
The three basic sizes would be boy sized, nob sized, and boss sized.
Orks are born nearly boy sized, orc adolescence and growth is more mental than physical.
Even then, it's mostly a matter of learning and adjusting to ork kultur.
Orks physical growth is purely a matter of fighting.
Older orks have had more opportunity to fight, but younger orks who have fought more will be larger.
>What's their average life span?
No idea. Orks have pretty extreme outliers in both directions.
Assuming the aren't killed in battle they could probably live forever.
>I assume with the exception of Warbosses and Warlords, 10 years would be ancient by Ork standards.
I'm certain they're not counting, but I assume any nob older than that has either become boos (not necessarily a warboss) or been killed by their boss for getting to big.
The largest known ork (and probably the oldest) was The Beast, who was the size of a city block with teef as big as trees.
Also of note, bigger orks have bigger brains.
Most of this is extra motors control (for their larger bodies), but bigger orks (bosses, etc.) tend to be smarter orks (or at least more cunning orks).

Ghazkghull appears to be at least a hundred or so years old, if not older.

Anyone going to GP Columbus?
I'm deciding to either play Death and Taxes, Grixis Delvers, Sneak and Show, or Storm.
What are you playing and building right now?
Anything from the new set you are testing?
>>46611292
I'm playing Reanimator and Dredge, kind of silly to pick 2 combo decks that both fold to GY hate, but oh well. I think next I'm going to build painter, and I pray to Christ that they reprint imperial servant in EM

I've been wondering which system would work best for a campaign using the Revelation Space setting from the series of novel by Alistair Reynolds. For those who don't know, it's a space opera, but one where the lightspeed limit is respected and humanity is alone in the galaxy. It's a reasonably hard science fiction for space opera. Traveller seems a bit ill-adapted for it but it's the only one that springs to mind. Any input?
>>46600595
I use Traveller for a setting strongly inspired by the Revelation Space. It serves its purpose alright, the rest is up to the GM.
>>46600595
This is super relevant to my interests.
I like that there is a clear timeline, a clear limit to what established technologies can do, and areas like the Glitter/Rust Belt, Chasm City and Pattern Juggler worlds that are almost endless in variation.
I also love the pessimism in the setting. I wish we knew more about the other aliens in the universe though.

I was wondering, are there any tips out there on how best to roleplay a lowly Imperial Guardsmen?
Mostly relating to Only War and perhaps playing a Krieger but any tips to play a Guardsmen would be appreciated
small victories count. Killing a genestealer is a big deal. Taking a ridge from heretic autocannon emplacements is a big deal. Embrace regimental culture, propaganda, life back home. Know that you're going to die on some world you cannot even pronounce for a culture of humans that seems backward to you. Learn to ahte bureaucracy. Learn to fear your leaders.
If you are a Krieger, read Dead Man Walking, the best black library book I ever got through. It will show you that to be a Death Korps man/woman, you are already dead. Your world is gone, and you are as soulless as a necron. Your lasgun's maintenance is more important than your wounds.
>>46626441
You could also look at Eagle Ordinary for inspiration.
>>46626441
Avoid Krieger, as that is a very extreme personality type. Kriegers are the most fun when contrasted with a team, they are not great as pcs or as pc squads.
Anyway, a Guardsman is
>Aware that he is the BEST OF THE BEST
>Aware that about 60% of what he has heard about the front is lies.
>Firmly believes in the Emperor, and that his sacrifice, whatever it is, will not be in vain.
>Misses home.
>Trusts his kit.
>Trusts his bayonet more.
>Knows that if he fails, if he is weak, millions die.
>Knows that even though ten shall take his place when he falls... he is not replaceable. The War Machine is not built on mindless cogs, but on the sacrifice of the brave and selfless who go before it.
>Knows that Ollanius lives.
Characters you've always wanted to play.
Hopilite foot soldier/merc who's not just looking for the next battle but trying to become a philosopher.
Old man who used to be crew on a ship until a mutiny went wrong and he was on the wrong side.
A electrician in a metro 2033 setting.
I never take frogposters earnestly.

An older man who has grown adventurer children.
His wife died of old age and he's going out to kick the bucket in glorious fashion, like the 'good old days'.
