“Am I Evil?”
Yes you are.
The biggest bad to be both big and bad. Sitting and seething on your sinister seat, enthralled by your magnanimous malevolence, you’ve come to realize something.
Something other than your ostentatious overuse of awe-inspiring alliteration.
There was something you were supposed to do today…
>There is an adventurous group coming, meet them at the gates.
>Go check on the heir to the kingdom, where they wait in their cell.
>Rally the troops in the slave pits, your presence is needed there.

Hey let's try to break 100 posts like the Modern and Standard guys.

http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/pauper

>BUT I WANT TO SEE ALL VIABLE DECKS!
http://tappedout.net/users/fruuty/deck-folders/

>Which rules should I follow?
If you don't already have some homebrew version with friends, follow the MTGO card pool and banlist (and please spread this to your friends that start playing with you). Currently the only place Pauper is officially supported by Wizards is online, and they have a card pool and banlist, therefore that is the format we should be using offline on paper as well, since decks and cards can transfer to games between each other with no confusion.

>WAHHH THATS TOO HARD WHERE...
http://www.mtg-hunter.com
The bottom left has a box, select MTGO Pauper, all cards in the card pool and banlist are taken into account.

>What deck should I use?
Ask in the thread!

>Is MTGO worth it?
If you have no local paper competition, but want to play a vast amount of Pauper, it can't be beat, even if it is a clunky GUI, you learn quickly.

Some good decks for newbies include but are not limited to:
>Burn
>Elves
>Goblins
>Stompy
>Slivers
>Affinity
>Mono U control
>UB Teachings

Never played pauper before, considering trying it in MTGO. Does this look like something that's not absolutely awful?

Its based on a custom standstill deck for DOTP2014 I found and really liked.

also, it's crazy how cheap most things are on mtgo, but are there any super budget replacements i could put in for Ninja of the Deep hours? That card alone makes up about 75% of the cost

Additionally, anyone played Fantasy Age? What's it like? Is it good? Is it worth buying?

How about Ryuutama?

So /tg/, if you order online, who do you order from? Any retailers to absolutely avoid? Any retailers that absolutely deserve business?

I had just ordered some stuff from Miniature Market (Dropzone Commander), and while the prices are fucking great, I'm starting to think that they sell slightly defective products, at least for DZC; the rulebook had two (small) pictures where the color was totally fucked, and the models all had (very small) defects; a detail was sealed over or missing, a section was almost imperceptibly bent, or maybe a very small bubble on a not-too-visible sections.
Nothing big or major enough to make me want to return my stuff, but it was still kind of a let down; can anyone else confirm if this is the case for their other stuff? If it is, I wouldn't be surprised seeing how cheap they sell the stuff for.

I'll kick the thread off then.

What do you guys do for aquatic life in your settings?

I've gone for some variants of real world sea creatures.

>The Pirate Crab
A large hermit crab that uses sunken ships and vessels as a home. Young pirate crabs are about the size of a large dog, and might use wooden washtubs or wooden crates as homes, but they grow larger with time, and they must compete with other crabs for more living space. At maturity, they can be as large as cargo vessels or war ships. If a Pirate Crab manages to get one of these as its home, they often attack other vessels in nearby waters, closer to land. Any new ships it brings down will act as a safe place to lay its eggs, where other smaller Pirate Crabs come to fertilize the eggs.

Locals often mistake these wrecked ships, drifting eerily along the water's edge as ghost ships, and any attempts made to attack or remove the ship are often met with the giant claws of the ship's host, seemingly adding more dead to the ghost ship's numbers.

I haven't thought about my aquatic life yet.

I have land monsters, but I was just going to go with giant sharks, giant squids and giant crabs.

Any other ideas?

So, I wrote in a magical roman-cthulhu empire that existed before the main setting just so I can use it as an excuse for weird magical bullshit and so I can cut the amount of history I need to write in half.

Here's the explanation:

>Long ago, before the Gargans(giants) sailed from their stormy coasts of Fathalahm and prior to Man's march south, their was an empire unimaginable.

>A kingdom ruled the cruel will of a gifted few: the mysterious God-Men. Privy to the machinations of the universe and learned of the secrets of cosmic law, this race wielded untold power granted to them by dark forces.

>But one day, when the primordial ancestors of Man, Gargan, and Elzan(elf) woke to the morning, they found all the world void of their oppressors.

>None could guess, and not a soul even now knows, what fate befell the masters of the world. But the progenitors of the three races did not care.

That's all I got. It doesn't really affect anything in the setting, but I'm using it as a starting point for the *actual* history of the setting. From their, it's many centuries of tribal life, then a millenium of ancient/bronze era, then a millenium of medieval stuff, then half a millenium of "pike and shot" stuff, and then, a couple centuries of Napoleonic warfare.

Then...

I dunno, fantasy WWI?

Create a fantasy or sci-fi religion or ideology. Your religion or ideology must answer three questions.

Death: Why must man die? What happens afterwards? Is there a way to avert death?

Impotency: Why is man so weak in body and mind? Why should he not be as powerful as the gods?

Morality: How does a man obtain an "ought" from an "is?"

Here's one:

Gaia, Shub-Niggurath, the world soul, whatever her name druids know that all on earth is but an extension of Tanit.

Death: Death is the natural way of earth. By discarding material attachments to the world one can assure reincarnation and fend off undeath.

Impotency: All on earth are part of Tanit and all serve a useful purpose. Power is imparted in accordance to one's function and need and Tanit will provide if more power is required.

Morality: At all costs, Tanit must be preserved. The propagation and preservation of life in all its bounteous forms must be established. Undeath is an abomination that steals away souls from Tanit. Undead must be put to rest and returned to Tanit.

I had an idea for a setting, /tg/, and I'd like some help brainstorming. It's post-modern, with some serious scientific advancement. A large group of people went for (near) immortality by machine uploading as soon as it became available, while other people waited for medical technology to provide biological (again, near) immortality.

What I'm trying to figure out is if there'd be a good reason for these two groups to conflict, and what sort of society would develop when everyone's going to live foreve as long as they have the right parts and drugs?

Once we no longer have needs to fight over, war will truly be the domain of values.
>>
>>47026032
>It's post-modern,
I suppose you mean either futuristic, or post scarcity. "Post-modern" means something different.
The problem with post scarcity setups is always creation of conflicts. The idea of post scarcity settings in general is that it provides such a distant and difficult to imagine scenario that making any kinds of speculations about the nature of such society is going to be wonky.

As for conflict between people awaiting digital immortality vs. biological one is again pretty difficult. There is no reason why these two groups should be inherently at odds. Hell, even the distinction between the two seems very blurred to me.
Since there is no inherent conflict between the two groups, you are quite literally free to make up any. But as anyone with a bit of world-building experience probably knows now, freedom is actually usually your biggest enemies, and creative constraint your best friend.
Maybe you should think of other aspects of the settings first. What are the most important ideologies and philosophies of your world? Religion? Ethical doctrines? Technical limitations? Identities (how do people indentify themselves as parts of some bigger group - where does "us vs. them" mentality come from in such a world? Nationality, race, religion, class-based/wealth-based (the two aren't necessarily the same, keep in mind)?
Put more principles and constraints up, and maybe the conflict will emerge on it's own.
>>
>>47026032
Well, as for conflict, I would point to religious or philosophical groups, as they'd most likely question the idea of if uploading yourself is the same as death, while biological immortality is more 'wholesome' or 'natural'

As for society itself, you'd be looking at very low birthrates, and general pushing towards utopia in general. As long as immortality is widely available enough, and since it's into the future where robots are doing most mundane labor, you'll probably have a lot of people working most of their hours online, and a smaller number of them at that.

Thus, people have more freetime for leisure and hobbys. Basically it becomes Renaissance 2: Electric boogaloo.
