Can Elves and Orcs produce hybrids? If not, do elves-humans-orcs constitute a ring species? Are the other player races separate species, since we see little if any hybridization?

All of these are "depends on the setting" questions, and many settings leave it up to the GM to decide how it works in their game.

You know, almost like the GM is supposed to make rulings and mess with setting canon in order to make it enjoyable for everyone in their group.
>>
>>47165602
Depends on the setting. D&D? Dominant genes win out, making it either a half-orc or a half-elf, stat-wise.

To encourage magic PCs I homebrew magic mechanics: Characters have points on different levels on magic, and depending on their class and level they can make up whatever spell or effect they want

If someone's a fire mage for example, spending one level one point lights a candle, one level three point casts a fireball or let them use the same amount of fire as they want, all points of all levels let them just burst a wave of fire but makes them pass out

Sounds good, anyone tried something similar? More important, any official system that perfected something like this?

I have it and it's pretty retarded.

Good thing i didn't buy it.

It'll be like the original, few will buy it and even fewer will use the extra rules. You only really want it for the new aircraft rules.

The stromtalon no longer has the sky fire special rule you now have to buy the stormhawk

so 4 out of my 5 skype party members just went on a hour long rent about each other blaming and insulting everyone in quite a hefty way.
Now they want me to kick each other out of the party ...

Either kick all of them or kick the ones that started the shit show.
Unless they have a strong claim for being a fucking twat, for example the other player tried a rape or something fucked up like that.

My vote goes for kick them all

How many soldiers can a medieval fantasy kingdom actually support?

This particular Empire is largely based on Russia (but poorer and more corrupt) and has a population of around 50 million.

It's got a strong military focus but apparently can only field a standing army of about 310,000 people stationed all over the empire and in times of invasion might be able to mobilise and additional 550-600k

Quite a small number for any long period of time, if you have an army in times of war, perhaps as much as 1/10 might be a professional soldier or armsman employed in border security, policing, guard or just general soldiery and training. The rest will be menial laborers with jobs such as farming, industry and any other low traditional shit jobs which in times of war are conscripted, given a spear, shown which end to use and told to march.

But the above might be wildly different, need more information to be more correct, what time in history are you playing in or what time is it similar too?

What part of the world are you playing in or what is it most similar too?

How much fantasy is involved?

You mention Russia which was heavily vested in Serfdom which is slavery with the workers tied directly to the land itself, with people holding the land for the Tsar/Crown. Largely uneducated (If it's before Socialism took over), completely poor with little knowledge on how to survive outside of their own local area. I would say that even fewer than 1/10 would have any professional soldiering experience as they were quite easy to keep in line, with the corruption you mention it may be that number changes with land barons training more to ensure the status quo stays the same.

When a country is corrupt to the bone, the main place power is found is in the military, at least when you look outside of the political class. So even those with 'professional experience' may not be experienced at all.

There were airplanes, actual airplanes, working air fleet that was sold for scrap metal.

A motor-rifle regiment, basically a mechanized infantry like 40k style that was always kept on constant readiness ran out of gas as the reserves had been sold.

Then with the corruption you have horrific low level crime in the ranks itself, working for the officers. Theft, bribery and protection rackets are enforced through rape, assault and murder. So their is no morale and no need to defender the motherland and would most likely turncoat if given a chance.

Ok this is bothering me a lot.

I was looking up cards so I could know the best rank of them after seeing them on Rugrats cuz it struck me I know what cards beat what, I'd never seen them in order of hands.

Now can a royal flush have different suits? As in can it have hearts and diamonds and A K Q J 10 ? Or does it all have to be one suit, like in the picture?

Because for a regular flush, it's just black or red. If so, why the change from just black to just one suit? to make it harder?

Is there a difference between Royal Flush? And Royal Straight Flush?

You seem to be confused about what a flush is. A flush is not just the same color, but they must all be the same suit.

Because he didn't have to be completely roman on everything.

Besides, it's not eight regular formations - only four of those are battle companies. The other are support companies, still in training.

Which again is a Napoleonic model, as the Fusilier companies in a batallion went from 8 then later to 4

I've been wanting to make a rogue in the same vein as Styx here for a while.

The issue is that he'd be nearly useless in combat, though I suppose I could mostly solve that by just picking up a crossbow and plinking assholes from cover.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations on getting into table top role playing games, good places to start, tips for getting started as a first time player, what to expect, what I'll need to learn, finding a group, etiquette, etc. any advice at all is greatly appreciated.

I've been interested in tabletop rpg's for a while. I used to have an old friend on the internet (before he disappeared off the internet) who would always relate his latest tabletop gaming sessions to me and all the most amusing things that happened, and made it sound like a lot of fun. I've always found the lore and world building in many tabletop games interesting too. But actually getting into them always seemed daunting.

I've been getting into a lot of things lately that always seemed daunting for me before, so I think now would be a good time to take the dive. I've actually been lurking here for a while, and thought this would be the best place to ask for advice on how to properly break into this medium.

This is my first time posting on 4chan, also. So sorry if I've said or done anything stupid here.

Hey! What kind of tabletops are you interested in getting into? Do you have any friends in real life who currently play? How old are you?
>>
>>47161084
I'm 23.And no, sadly, I don't know anyone irl who's into games.

For games, I'm not sure. I'm not familiar at all with the mechanical elements of tabletop rpg's. So I was wondering if there were any games that would make "good starting points" forgetting into the medium.

From what I've heard of it, Exalted always caught my eye. Sounds like Bayonetta as an rpg.
>>
>>47160665
Game Finder thread. Pathfinder and Shadowrun are pretty good starting points because they have character builders (PCGen and Chummer, respectively) that takes most of the guesswork out of it.
You'd want a GM/Group who're okay with new people (Which is about 90% of people desu).

As a complete noob and someone who has never played any tabletop game (other than chess, heh) what should i know, focus on, avoid, etc?

Thanks.

>what should i know

1. Games are easy.
2. People are difficult.

Your decisions should be based on who you plan to play with/ against. If you just want to collect, nvm. Buy what you like. If it's to play with friends, talk to them. If it's to play in tournaments, avoid all models not in the two current top-tier lists and do whatever it takes to win at all costs.

Good luck.

Ok, I don't know how else to explain this other than one of my players is possibly the most passive aggressive and spineless person I've ever met. Unfortunately, this especially comes through in character. If you so much as hint that he should do something, he will act like it's 15 new commandments coming straight from yahweh's asshole. His character is pretty much controlled by the other party members, and what little independent thought he does have is the most stupidest shit I've ever seen. The thing that makes it the worst, is that after every session he comes to me and tells me that "That his characters never have a time to shine" or "Why doesn't the group listen me ?"
>Why don't you just talk to him OP ?
Well I did politely tell him that maybe he should stick up for himself more, and you know what he did ? He told me:
>"You think I'm just a coward don't you ?"
>"Well go fuck yourself ! "
And that's the first time anyone has ever seen him stand up against anything. Ever.
I'm honestly thinking about just kicking him from the group. I have no idea what to do with him.
Pic completely unrelated.
