Hello /tg/.
I'm listening.
Roz, who's our next caller?
>>47119060
Lannie, from the east side. She says he's having bad dreams about birds!
Yeah doc, I gotta problem with these quest threads. They useta be on the teegee but now they ain't, and I got nothin' to complain about now 'cept for all the elf princess is actually a prince theads. What should I do?
>The king of frogs is actually a toad
How does this affect your setting?
>>47118932
It doesn't, as there's no real taxonomic difference between frogs and toads and therefore both are welcomed in the kingdom of Anura.
REEEEEEEE
>>47118932
>The queen of crocodiles is actually alligator.
>The turtle emperor is actually tortoise.
The evil overlord and his army of demons invade earth. Luckily you found out that you can control the minds of pigeons. How would you use your new power to defeat the overlord and save the world?
>>47117410
Have you ever watched The Birds?
>>47117410
Strap small rocks to them to the point that they can barely fly, walk them near the demon army and commence kamikaze flights.
>>47117410
Do I get the secondary power of multitasking?
What spells should I ban in 3.pf? So far I'm disallowing / nerfing glitter dust, color spray, and web. What others should I ban or heavily nerf?
Inb4 ban 3.pf
>>47117143
If you nerf or ban them, you're missing the point.
They're that powerful for a reason: They're actually about as good as things *should* be for the level of risk/reward and the difficulty of mobs at those levels.
What you SHOULD do is buff non-casters instead. They're the ones under the power curve. Alternatively, instead of nerfing spells, restrict their availability instead. Make getting the stronger abilities more difficult.
>>47117143
Dont ban any of them. Learn to be a dm who can roll with unknowns and allow people to have fun.
>>47117177
>What you SHOULD do is buff non-casters instead.

If you don't use it, I strongly suggest using Tome of Battle, and/or look up e6

Anyone else find it weird, funny, sad or all of these things that by the time the game is actually out we've already pretty much discussed the core book material to death?
>>47137350
It's almost as though that thing Holden said about the leak wearing out the hype too soon wasn't complete bullshit after all. On other hand, given the time between the backer pdf release and the full core book release, /tg/ still would've had about a six months to discuss the core book material to death anyway.
>>47137936
Maybe building a business around hype is a bad idea?

Hey there /tg/.
A thought came to me yesterday. Jesus was the first planeswalker. being the first documented crosser of the planes. Say we take him from Christian mythology into MTG. What would his colours be, and where do you think he would walk to?
he can make dead people resurrect

White, clearly. Jesus was definitely white.

Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!
Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!
>This is NOT a greentext adventure style CYOA with one GM and thread posting to dictate the adventure, but rather a hub thread for multiple storycrafters to use. A majority of activity (including campaigns) instead happens in the IRC, which is open for newbies to join.
Characters can be rolled with either the CYOA's purple PDF which is intended as a writing prompt and is in the process of developing an independent auxiliary combat system, or AMGC's blue pdf which contains combat rules for PNP campaigns along with the rolls.

Introducing the MGCYOA Supplementary Combat System v1.1!
Created at roughly the same time as AMGC, the SCS allows players to easily take characters made in the CYOA v1.4 and use them in Quests and long-running campaigns alike.
This PDF covers the basics of magical girls and sets the groundwork for future updates (which will include Patrons, DMGs, and Monster Girls). Additionally, plans have already been made to update alongside the CYOA v1.5 update which will be coming soon.
Currently Missing from the current PDF:
>Hammerstorm - (Active) - Any number of items and/or weapons in your inventory - Apply the effect(s) of all items used for this spell's cost to a Target at Far range or closer. Additionally, deal damage equal to the minimum damage possible for any weapon(s) used for this spell's cost to that Target.
>Mega link with the soon-to-come expansions to the SCS... coming soon
Hey /tg/ just finished the 2nd draft of my homebrewed fantasy rpg system, and I need a cover picture.
I really like the dungeon world front cover picture because it shows an expansive scene of an adventuring party fighting through a dungeon with many different things going on.
So lets make this an art thread with pictures of adventuring parties doing adventurer things. I will post any that I find.
Dungeon world is shit. Why would you post this?
Please stop subtly shilling his Reddit tier RPG. You're not fooling anyone
>>47115676
>>47116168
Wow, I'm impressed with the depth of thought you've put into your suggestions for cover art.
After playing almost exclusively D&D in its various incarnations for the past 5 years (tried Only War once with the group, didn't go well), I've decided to drop it for a while after my 5e campaigns hopefully within the next month. So I started doing my research and found a few games that spark my interest, mainly for much they have a theme I like or easy to chop up and make things customized to my liking. I've got
>Shadow of the Demon Lord
>Fantasy AGE
>Torchbearer
>The One Ring
and I've heard good things about all of them but I thought I'd come ask if anyone has played a regular game with any of them and your thoughts.
>>47115084
I've played none of them but also heard (at least mostly) good things.
I recall some complaints that Fantasy AGE doesn't really address certain complaints with how DragonAge (the predecessor system) deals with spellcasting, though I also don't remember exactly what those complaints were supposed to have been.
I'm interested to see /tg/'s take on this lineup. Also, bump.
Torchbearer is horse shit. I read it very thoroughly as did one of my players. I DMed a few long sessions with open-minded and experienced rpg players. Nobody had fun. The combat system is the worst any of us had ever seen. Doesn't help that 1/2 of the design team, Luke Crane, is a notorious prick who literally says "you're doing it wrong" if you don't like his broken, unplaytested game.
>>47115197
I haven't played but I get the feeling that it's definitely one of the OSR style games where it's definitely about a different type of fun. There's a fine line between 'restrictive' and 'streamlined' I think.
Did some more digging into SotDL and it looks like just my cup of tea in gameplay. The custom setting I'm working on has a lot of takes from the Soulsborne games, and given that Warhammer has a certain air of deadliness, SotDL seems to lend itself to what I want to do.
Do you prefer crunchy or light? Something in-between?
Do you like "rule-of-cool" games, or "logic-based" ones?
What is your favorite system, the one you keep coming back to?
Expanded reasoning appreciated.
>pls respond

Gurps
It's a game grounded in physics tests and extensive iterative playtesting. Very fair and logical.
Since I've started using it I haven't found another I've preferred to use instead, for any genre.
>>47114963
I'm a bit of a GURPSfriend myself. Still curious about the choices of others. I've been mulling over giving Fate Core a shot, but it still doesn't sit quite right with me in some ways.
Has anyone considered creating a campaign set in the 1984 setting?
I'd imagine it would be very heavy into rollplaying and insta pk due to the thought police which might not be everyones piece of cake.
I've been mulling it over and i remember that the glossary mentioned that the insoc gov't eventually fell so i can give players a fair chance at survival.
Tl;dr help me create a 1984 campaign.
>>47113341
Also, if anyone has links they can reccomend on everyday life under a dictatorship that would be welcome.
I mean, if you play Paranoia full on seriously (which is a thing if I recall correctly) it comes pretty close I guess. Not sure if there's a 1984 specific setting/rulebook floating about in the PDF share thread, or even in existence.
If you dug a bit into independent news sources you'd find you're already playing one.

>Ten years pass, and I see his charming nine-year old son walking down the street

>"That's for calling me 'Forest Friend'."
>>47113048
This was not funny the first time we had this kind of thread.
>>47113169
But this on the other hand is fantastic.
>>47113048
>Be elf
>Rest of the party gets mad that I'm racist towards drow
>Rest of the party don't know they lurk the woods at night looking for innocent children to kidnap and turn into slaves
>Rest of the party doesn't know they have a ritual where they drain your blood and replace it with drow blood and then you BECOME a drow
>Rest of the party doesn't know that drow are literally a corrupted twisted warps elves who are now a literal personification of perversion and suffering
>Rest of the party believes these drow "refugees" who are "fleeing from oppression" are "good people" and not an invasion force
Literally the last elf character I played 100% believed all these things despite every drow we encountered being a refugee, escaped slave, or just a straight up honest hard-working citizen of the kingdom.
Worse still, 99% certain we're going to the Underdark within the next session or two.
I imagine we take a warboss with mega armor, cybork body, attack squig, an ammo runt and a bosspole. But i don't know if there's anything else we can do to make it more powerful.
You put one in a stompah and convince him its him
>>47112989
The problem there is that you can't do that much with a stompa, other than having it be a stompa.
Give the enemy silenced weapons.
