The museum gardens are still beautiful, even left to grow wild. A few choice saplings, bought at great expense, or gifted from foreign states and Elven groves, grown into full trees stand beside borders of flowers just starting to bud and broad lawns of green. Although not a museum dedicated much to botany, the art of landscaping was still a focus of a handful of exhibits. Here, you can almost forget that a war was fought at all, until you noticed the torn ground where steel treads had ripped up the turf, or where abortive attempts to dig trenches had been made, before being hastily abandoned in the retreat. You tear your gaze away from the wounded grounds and instead re-focus on your task. There has to be a way in here somewhere!

After a half-hour of diligent searching, you are starting to lose hope. The museum is locked tighter than a miser's purse. It's both a blessing and a curse, as at least you know the works inside are likely to be intact. Taking a seat on a nearby bench (dedicated with a verdigrised plaque to some donor to the museum's fortunes), you look up and re-assess. Birds are nesting under the lip of the guttering, likely tending eggs that are soon to hatch- Hmm...

What will you do?
>Kick in a grille covering a basement window and try to crawl inside, through the claustrophobic space (2D20+1)
>Pry loose some roof tiles and worm your way in under the eaves, with the birds and mice (2D20+1)
>Declare, "Fuck it!" and smash a window with a rock, then batter down the shutters inside (2D20+1)
>Climb a tree and try to precariously make your way to the burned clock tower. Its damage may provide a way in, if it doesn't kill you to try (2D20+1)

There were some questions last thread, so I'll answer them now. (See? I didn't forget!)

>We're a student right? What was our focus/major? What classes have we taken that could possibly be of use?
Your major before the war was Political Science, with a minor in Mathematics and Accounting. Sadly, neither is of a great deal of use to you right now. Enzo's greatest strength is his way with people and earnest, ingenuous personality.

>What are our resources? Do we own a house?
Your ration card, revolver, 24 rounds of Awsbet pistol ammo and you and your brother's personal effects. You rent a single-bedroom apartment on University Road; a popular student residential area before the war.

>Is there any way we could have saved Karlo?
Maybe? Maybe not. It's probably doubtful. All you can do now is look to the future and try to save others.
No, you couldn't. That first section was character generation and trying to set the mood for the threads

>If we had picked a different character, would have affected our relationships with other people? Some of those names don't really jive all that well with the others, leading me to believe that they are foreigners in Awsbet, or at least children of immigrants
They could well have been foreigners, but they're citizens of Awsbet all the same and your brothers-in-arms. Plus, by selecting Enzo's name, you've helped define a little bit of the country and nail down its ethnicity some. Keep in mind that in this world, those names could all share a common region, for all you (and I) know!

"Lamias and saíir go into heat annually, a week-long period when the urge to reproduce outweighs almost all other desires
and at which time they are the most fertile. The intelligent lamia types prefer to mate with humans in order to produce
offspring of their own sort, but if none are available they will mate with their own kind. If they encounter a human outside
of the summer mating season, the human's presence may cause them to come into heat out of season. Common lamias are hermaphrodites; any two of them can mate, with either of the pair being impregnated in the process. This also means that they can mate with both male and female humans. If a common lamia mates with a male human, the lamia can be impregnated, but if the lamia mates with a female human, the unfortunate woman bears the cubs."

Oh right, I'll add in the weapon trait glossary right now. In the meantime:
>Burst
Burst weapon types are commonly firearms, but are any weapon that requires loading ammunition within the weapon in order to use it. Loading a round of ammunition into a Burst Weapon takes one Action by default.

>Focus
Focus weapons allow the character wielding one to sacrifice their action in order to increase the damage on the next attack made with the weapon. Each sacrificed action increases the damage by 2. However, sacrificed actions are reset upon using any action other than Focus, so moving, defending, readying, or otherwise choosing not to continue the Focus wastes all prior actions. Attacking with the weapon will spend all actions immediately.
>>
>>47131249
Does focus stack with focus strike then? and if I damage multiple targets would I learn the entire group's skills or just one randomly?

Why are 90% of indie RPGs shit?

90% of everything is shit.
>>
>>47130875

Spaghetti method. To design something new, throw stuff at the wall until something sticks. Not everything sticks.

Also, most indie games are designed with pretty specific genres or modes of play in mind, meaning they can't necessarily handle play outside that quite limited scope.
>>
Filtering and selection bias. If it's not shit, it eventually stops being an indie.

Hey /tg/ I am sitting with a slight bit of a problem, I think. You see with Game of Thrones back and the hype up and going. My players wanted to do a game set in Westeros with all the intrigue backstabbing and what not. Which is fine, I am on board with that being a fan myself. But the problem is the party is made up of well.. Pic related.

How do I make that work? I have two giant warriors, a mercenary from across the sea and a very angry version of Hodor.
46 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>47129597
Easy, you lead them by the nose via an NPC contract broker. e.g. they have a guy who can read and write who is their buddy in the same merc company as the merc from across the sea.

He's got a job set up with a westrosi lord and your all going there. You can use him as a nice way to introduce options for the players to discuss while giving a modicum of insight.

Which will be useful for explaining why not pulling off the lord's son's head after they gipped you on a contract clause is a good idea, and should ransom him instead/do other shenanigins.

For extra hillarity, make him foreign enough to not understand westrosi all that well, e.g. eastern european drow style. Good way to throw random stuff and catches into situations.
>>
Have them be goons for their favourite House or something.
OR get them to make a fan-house they are all parts of, or affiliated with, but there still being a NPC patriarch to give them objectives and shit.
And when they decide to fuck off to rape Cersei or some shit, improvise.
>>
>>47129597
You see, there are two kinds of characters on Game of Thrones.
>Intelligent but weak who stab people in the back
>Strong and stupid who stab people in the front.
Since all your players have gone the strong and stupid route, then you should center the entire campaign around raping, pillaging, and seemingly-random murdering.
Have a big list of all the characters, and every week pick 1d4 random names from that list, and then make up a reason for why the players should murder-rape that person.
If they start to complain that there's too much murder-raping, go a week or two with no murder-raping (during which time you will be building up to the next murder-rape). Following the two weeks of no murder-raping, you players will be complaining about the lack of murder-rapes, at which point you give them what they desire (murder-rape) and they will be appeased.

I think that should accurately recreate the show/books.

Is inserting a cute [cat/dog/fox/rabbit]-[girl/boy] NPC into a game a recipe for an instant [waifu/husbando] for the players?
