Sup /tg/! I have a little question for the physics geeks among you. In a capes game I'm participating in there is a character that can steal all the kinetic energy of an object and release it through bursts of increased speed/strength. So how much kinetic energy would a loaded cargo ship (around 138,000 metric tons) have if it was traveling at around 40 kph? How fast would that temporarily make a 85 kg human move if released all at the same time, assuming super hero physics stops your cells from being crushed on an individual level?

Pic semi-related, The Flash's top speed.

You know, you could have just checked Wolfram Alpha for this, but the math isn't too bad so I'll do it anyway. KE=1/2mv^2. Standard units is to use kilograms and meters per second. So KE=(.5)(13800000)(23.333), or 1609977000 Joules. Translate that to an 85 kg human and they'll have a velocity of 6154.82 meters per second. That's about eighteen times the speed of sound.
>>
>>47431329
Wait, shit, left out the exponentiation. And here I was going on about the math being simple, what a silly blunder. Okay, that's 37565593341 Joules, 29730.91 meters per second for an 85 kg human, or about 87.44 times the speed of sound.

Do you think classes are necessary for you to enjoy a role-playing game? or do you prefer free advancement?

I am currently taking a decision, i want to play BRP but it lacks the features that classes have, yes it does have careers but they only tell you what skills you can choose, mechanically classes just give you feats per time or different skill progression, so i dont know if i should implement classes (Creating them or looking for a supplement with them) or just fuck off and go back to games like dnd

Check out Classic Fantasy. It turns RuneQuest 6 into a dungeon crawler.

Also, RuneQuest 6 has brotherhoods and cults that give benefits for higher level members and adds another dimension to professions/cultures.

>Do you think classes are necessary for you to enjoy a role-playing game?
No, but they help players get into the role quickly and enjoy optimization.
>or do you prefer free advancement?
I prefer skill based systems without classes. Although, both types can be fun.

Great. Another animal person depiction of a kobold. It's mice this time.

Weren't they originally just ugly little men?

Pretty much. They've been interpreted as lizards by D&D (and establish a draconic connection somehow), rat-creatures by Warcraft, dogs by the Japanese for some reason, and now what looks like a gopher.

Honestly, a gopher actually makes sense to be as a design, as they actually tunnel, which is a key trait of kobolds in general.

On a similar not, gnolls used to be just kind of ugly dudes as well, but they seem to have been universally accepted as a kind of humanoid hyena as society acquaints itself with the hyena's rather disgusting habits.
>>

Is it actually preferable to have every fictional being default to ugly person or pretty person? I think not, I like when people use their imagination to think up different thinks.

>We're all really into Dungeon Meshi so we don't mind it at all. We'll just eat monsters and wild berries and shit

Party is:
>Me. Human Ranger. I maxed out my survival right away and am the primary source of food for the party. I'm also the cause of this stupid death.
>Human Bard. Our keymaster and party face. The player plays his character as a bit of a lecher but isn't creepy about it. He's usually getting punched or slapped for his efforts and takes it in stride.
>Female aasimar Paladin with 20 Charisma, which apparently makes her the most beautiful woman any of our characters have ever seen and a primary target of the Bard's advances.
>An elf wizard who is totally not Marcille.

The funny (and also sad) death:
>We've been hunting bullywugs at the behest of a minor duke.
>The Frog men have been terrorizing his lands and eating his people.
>It's basically a wilderness hex-crawl as we look for their hideout.
>I fuck up my Perception check and Bullywogs ambush us.
>We win, but get chewed up kind of bad.
>Make camp for the night.
>Me: "I roll survival to gather supplies for tonight."
>I roll a 1.
>Fuck
>This DM was a huge stickler about not letting players see each other's rolls except in combat. So nobody else knows I fucked up.

>Dinner goes by relatively normally
>I'm bracing myself for the worst.
>As we discuss who will be on watch that night, the DM interrupts us.
>"Hey guys, remember the mushroom soup you just ate?"

>The Bard is hopping along behind her as he struggles with his boots. "Wait for me!"
>My Ranger is now chasing imaginary pixies around the campsite screaming at them to give him back his nose.

As we prepare for our next offering we prepare for what could be the first real chapter into Dearth of Gods.

Previous Thread:
>>47332865

Reference sheet for those interested.

What the game is shaping to be.
To compare a game with another game; Dearth of Gods begins to depart from Floors in a way that Floors plays vertically and Dearth of Gods plays horizontally. Not in a physical sense but in terms of progression. As players progress the campaign via clearing of floors and ascending the stairs, Dearth of Gods will simply progress the game by turns or sets of turns called " Chapters" using the Chapters system major events and schedules will be arranged by turn counter and have both a "Live" point and a "Termination" point.

As an example, we are currently in Turn 40 of the game but at Turn 60 various key events will turn over if not attended to unless of course players are already unraveling that event before them. In which case, the Termination point will yield to what was observed of the events as it unfolds before the player. Meanwhilst other key events could occur between these turns such as an unannounced faction raid or perhaps NPC's passing through like the many other times it's happened. Players are free to involve themselves in this narrative or not however such events will ultimately affect the status of the world at large.

To play into this theme, teleportation and travel will be limited and time management will become key to most progressions. Travelling between Sacred Pyres is allowed as well as miniature prayer shrines. Items may also be used to travel back to these ley points but will be limited in number or expensive to procure in large amounts.

Team Play:
Despite the Skirmish format DoGs doesn't force players to work together as a team. It is possible to play Solo however note that this game will never "balance" itself to make encounters fair. PVP is also allowed as "laws" are only enforced IG

Lightning bros. Alternatively, a greatweapon class like the Onion knights? Not sure how well those would work in this game though.

This is the campaign's current posse for Deadlands: Hell on Earth

Cyrus Twain
-Harrowed Gunslinger
-Good ole' southern boy
- Has a crow that just follows him around
- Obscures most of his face with a bandana to hide the rotting

Eddie Flint
-Gets beat to near-death semi-regularly
-Party face
-Rides a motorcycle named Debra
-has a gambling addiction

Daniel North
-Templar badass
-Wears improvised armor that resembles a Roman Legionnaire
-Arrogant but quiet about it
-Searching for a magic sword

Townes Harrison
-Mutant Doomsayer
-Used to be an accountant
-Now he shoots radiation from his hands
-Wears football gear under his robes
-Free market puns

Theodore
-Creepy child syker
-Can't read the written word, but can read minds
-Total glass cannon
-Third best driving ability in the party

Maralah Tsosie
-Disgraced Sioux Shaman
-Deals with corrupted toxic spirits instead of nature spirits
-basket case
-She has a pet smog spirit

Liz Grant
-Chemistry Teacher turned cyborg
-Former Combine specops, now a deserter
-Ace pilot
-Got beat up by potato zombies

They're pretty dysfunctional. The Templar doesn't trust the Toxic Shaman, the gunslinger's demon might take over at any second, the Doomsayer worships radiation and mutation, the Syker cries and blows things up, the Cyborg cries and blows things up, but with guns, and Eddie tends to go from Highway Star to Highway Stain

We haven't started the campaign yet but it looks like everyone is playing short characters. Either a dwarf of a gnome. One chucklefuck thought this was especially funny and rolled a human midget

DM said he was going to put any important plot items on reasonably high shelves so we couldn't get it.

“Alchemist’s fire,” Palme observed, gingerly holding the phial in armored hands. The contents within the small decanter emitted a soft glow every few seconds, even without the aid of nearby torchlight. “Not exactly a common substance, and definitely one no mere brigand can purchase from a common hedge witch.”

“Get to the point,” Emeron snapped. Once his sister had been returned to her quarters, the full extent of his acerbic temper had long slipped past his cool exterior. “I’m in no mood for bandying words, Palme. Speak quickly and as plain as you can.”

Even with years of mortar to reinforce the stone, the cool touch of evening winds still found their way deep into the castle’s dungeons. The jailer’s room was almost as cold as a midwinter’s night, but not so frozen as to prevent the spread of mildew. But both had little effect on the men gathered at the table, cloaked in thick furs and well-used to the smell of foul things.

There was a fire going in the pit, the dry hiss and pop of resin veins in the tinder audible even through the howling of the prisoner. It cast macabre shadows across the walls, flickering shapes and phantoms against the ageless stone. And as the night went on, the darkness lengthened as crimson flames consumed the half-ashen wood.

Two of Emeron’s Silver Knights stood at attention to the entrance of the dungeons, and another four in each corner of the jailer’s room. They kept a silent watch only occasionally marred by the hellish shrieks beneath them, manifesting in twitches of discomfort and wayward glances.

Palme cleared his throat. “As you wish. The clothes the assassin wore during his attack bear the colors and sigil of the Pullmans.” He tossed a scrap of ragged cloth onto the table. Carefully stitched atop a striped cloth of red and white, the wings of the Great Eagle were spread open in flight. “Damning evidence to be sure, if it weren’t for the fact that the torturer got him to confess to stripping the clothes and armor off a corpse.”

The prince’s face clouded as he made a noise of distaste. “A man will say anything to escape the torturer’s knives.”

“True enough, but this one was telling the truth.” Palme’s smile was anything but pleasant. “I’ll stand on it as Lord Commander of the Crownguard when we have a formal trial. Assuming he doesn’t bleed out on the dungeon come sunrise.”

His face remained unchanged. “Then Lord Kieran has no involvement in this plot.” It was not a question as much as it was an affirmation.

“There’s no sure guarantee, but the evidence points to their innocence. He is among one of your family’s closest allies. The Pullmans have nothing to gain and everything to lose if they were involved in a conspiracy of this…severity.”

“…very well,” Emeron responded. “I will speak to Lord Kieran in the morning and inform him of what’s happened…but that does not explain the presence of the alchemist’s fire. The only thing that’s keeping that bastard alive is the question as to who provided him with the damn fire.”

“Agreed,” he nodded. “That is the most concerning question.”

“I would not be worried for a large vase or jar. That limits the possibilities to the other four great houses. But a small flask the size of a thumb…even the lowliest baron could scrounge enough arums to pay for that amount of chemical.”

“Which is why this will take time,” Palme sighed, regarding the door leading down to the torture chambers. “He was not about to give any names the last time I was down there. That makes it all the harder for Armand to find the right spot to cast his agents. Of course, we could spread our network as wide as we could, but-”

An armored gauntlet crashed onto the table, disturbing the contents pre-arranged on the faded wood. “Someone tried to kill my sister,” Prince Emeron Crowmond snarled, a fierce look in his eyes. “In a time where all our actions, mine own especially, are watched closely by both nobles and peasantry alike. We cannot afford to look weak, now of all times. The Crown will have its justice, and it must come swift and without mercy. I will see every one of these blackguards’ heads mounted atop pikes come the next moon.”

The two knights standing outside came at the sound of the noise, swords half-drawn before Palme waved for them to stand down. At the sight of their prince unharmed and merely inflamed, they nodded once, going back to their duty outside.

Eventually, Emeron exhaled deeply, retracting his fist and running a hand through sweat-streaked hair. “Gods above, I’m sorry. The journey home was long, cold and miserable by all other accounts. And just when I find respite and reprieve from sorting out the troubles of the Empire...we have this mess to deal with…”

Your day was going pretty normally until a man wearing black robes charged at you with a katana. You're pretty sure he stabbed you, as your chest really hurt before you fainted. But you're awake now and feel just fine, while he's unconscious and lying on top of you. ...No, he's actually dead. Well, at least you aren't dead. That's at least something halfway decent out of this bizarre situation.

Or so you thought.

But in actuality, you've also died.

And your ghost is dressed in the black robes of your assailant.

So this is how you were meant to go, huh? You pick up the nodachi lying on the ground and do what any newly dead person would do - get up on a rooftop. You're already dead, so the height doesn't seem threatening at all.

From your new vantage point you can see a large chunk of the small, unfamiliar town you've wandered into, the dark of night warded off by pale street lights. This was supposed to be your first time coming to Tempura Town, but... wait, that's not the right name. ...Kerakera? It seems closer to the truth, but that can't be right, either.

But anyway, from this height, the humble night town looks nice and peaceful, with not a single person in sight.

But it's directly underneath you that a scene that's neither nice nor peaceful is currently unfolding.

A blonde office lady is under attack by a massive green monster wearing a white mask.

You should help her. You've got a sword, after all. This situation seems kind of risky, so you should pick your approach with care.

...

>The Stealth Approach: Quietly sneak up on it and cut it as hard as you can.
>The Charisma Approach: Announce your presence. You'll figure something out after getting its attention away from the office lady.
>The Full Power Approach: Drop down on it from above. Use the momentum of your fall from this six story building for a massive bonus to attack.

Literally anything.
Anime I haven't even watched.
Video games I've barely played
Movies I can't remember
Songs with intentionally recontextualized lyrics
Television shows I've seen the trailer of.

Earlier I was thinking how Agent 47 is a Demon (perhaps with an Exploit that lets him done temporary Covers), and the ICA is an Agency. I'm also trying to decide whether an Assassin's Creed style Conspiracy that delves into genetic memory through the Temenos to gain Endowments or a Compact based on people who where the "final girl" of a Slasher attack is more fitting to submit to Monica.
