Nothing personally - the one that I was playing on the regular just kind of shit itself and had a few super old players ragequit, but you can go to TMC and check out the better ones.

http://www.mudconnect.com/

That's got a list of most of the active MUD's nowadays - a lot of them actually have fuckin decent playerbases.

Alright /tg/, let's hear your voice. Either through vocaroo, chirbit, youtube or whatever hosting service you so desire. Talk, act, sing or whatever. Make requests of the willing participants, but please be respectful. Keep things PG-13, no lewd requests. Take that to /soc/.
Excellent resource for learning about voice acting:
https://iwanttobeavoiceactor.com/
Discord channel: https://discordapp.com/invite/012Dvo4OQf0z84xmX

Challenge: Record yourself reading three different short lines or one long monologue from your favorite book/character. Keep it /tg/ related(quotes from Warhammer, D&D, MtG etc. etc.).
Hard Mode: Nothing that's been voiced before. No quotes from video games, movies or anything else like that.

Greetings elegan/t g/entlemen,

I come to you seeking guidance in my hour of need. I am in search of software to help me develop a new fantasy setting in extreme detail. My requirements are two-fold:

1) Height-mapping software. I need something that can help me simulate realistic geography (fractal based perhaps) down to the level of river flows and their effect on the land and the impact of natural disasters such as meteor strikes or volcanic eruptions. Added bonuses if the capability even exists would be basic A) systems of plate tectonics and B) weather systems and climate zones.

2) A program to map the orbit of moons and planets within a solar system.

A single program to simulate both of these would be ideal, but I realize that msy not be realistic and as such I may need multiple programs.

A little background as to why I'm looking for this. The idea for this setting stemmed from a combination of the 9 worlds in norse mythology, the movement of the ptolemaic spheres, and general astrology fuckery effecting people/events.

The setting is generally low fantasy on the earth-like world (we'll call it Midgard until I come up with a better name). That being said the geography is royally fucked after the giant ass volcano at the juncture of a few continents blew its top and sank a lot of land into the sea, along with the predominant empire in the region. People believe that the previously dormant volcano is a stairway to heavan and it blew its top after some cunts decided to kill the Son of God (TM).

Now getting into the point of a working solar system. So while Midgard more or less follows the physics of our own world, the other planets play by their whole own set of rules. Now this is where magic comes into play. Mages are (incredibly rare) individuals that given a power source can play by the rules of physics/reality from another planet on Midgard. Now the nearer one of these planets orbits Midgard the more powerful the magic becomes. For example the 'death' planet comes near Midgard every at the end of every fall causing a lot of undead to get themselves up to no good. Most planets only get close enough every 50-200 years to have a noticeable impact, but when they do they can cause some serious supernatural fuckery.

Additionally the sun that the planets orbit is the heavan equivalent of this setting. I'm debating whether I want to have a second smaller sun as my 'hell,' dedicate a planet to it, or place it in the literal core of Midgard.

I hope you guys can give me some good recommendations. I can post more once I get home from the bar and have access to my notes if you would like.

Anybody have any more of these cool 3D isometric maps/dungeons?

Have you ever ran these as quick dungeon crawl modules?

I'm thinking of just winging a whole session with one of these, making shit up with random rolls behind my DM screen. Is that a good idea?

They're a lot more useful than a 2D map if height matters in the dungeon, and for creating a better sense of what the place looks like.

How the hell do people explain half werewolves? Werewolves are cursed men that turn into a horrid beast at full moon. If they weren't cursed, magically shapeshifting or diseased, they would just be beastmen. How the hell does a half-werewolf work? How do you inherit half a curse or a disease, but not all of it? Do you just become little cursed? Are the werewolf genes supposed to be dominant if they can be inherited? Wouldn't that just make you a full werewolf regardless of your other parent?

What is a half-werewolf?

I guess the progeny of a werewolf and a non werewolf.

How that works is based entirely on the particulars of werewolves in your setting.

Why don't Space Marines, or Space Marine Scouts, use regular bicycles? I mean, they are

>relatively silent
>make traversal easier
>take advantage of the fact that the Astartes can literally run faster than 100 mph
>much easier to maintain and repair
>are ridiculously cheap to make, and field, unless the Mechanicus have to make them out of gold-plated ceramite and spend millenia blessing them
>enable Mumen Rider shenanigans

Is there no STC for a bike or something?

Best bet is to look up what each of the Major Arcana represents.

For example, the Tower is a sudden, violent change or end to something. Clearly, this would be a "Power Word: Kill" sort of spell.

Don't assume that a card's name has any relation to its meaning. Both Death and The Devil are fairly neutral-positive cards.
>>
>>47471138
I think we all know what The World does...
>>
>>47471657
No, no, do it the exact opposite way, take the literal meaning of the every card instead. Tower creates a tower, for instance.

Hello friends,

Looking for recommendation for a system that would be good to do a Dark Souls inspired campaign with. I'd prefer it to be narrative focused with less emphasis on stats and more on common sense mechanics and flexibility. I've heard Dungeon World is a good fit but I need more suggestions.

>narrative focused
What narrative? Dark Souls is all about exploration, finding things out, and interacting with the variety of memorable characters, not following a plot.

Anyway, to answer your question, look up Torchbearer. It's a dark fantasy game with a very strong focus on characterization (which I think may be what you meant by "narrative focused") and exploration. Its focus on lighting (hence the name) and morale may also mesh well with a Dark Souls-esque campaign. There's a healthy amount of combat maneuvers available, and planning/playing smart is a major thing. It's not the world's most intuitive system, but its worth a shot. The system also gets thrown around a lot for Dark Dungeons.

If that doesn't work out, there's always GURPS; you'll have plenty of options at your disposal allowing for *tons* of flexibility, and a brutal realism of the system supports common-sense choices over "he's threatening me with a crossbow? lol I've got 60 HP and that does, what, like 1d8?" There's no built-in mechanics for character-driven stories by default though, so that'll be on you to include.
>>
>>47470545
By Dark Souls inspired I meant via atmosphere, eg decaying world, few npcs, themes of cycles and rebirth, not lack of a strong narrative. Lordran is just one part of the world as well so I was thinking of incorporating other provinces from the Lore as well or making up similar scenarios.

And thanks for your suggestions! I'm looking for things that won't be too clunky to newer players, so GURPS might be a good fit albeit more work for me to fill in the blanks. I'll look into Torchbearer as well though. I really appreciate your response

What is a characteristic food in your games?

WHat is soemthing thematic you can cook for a medieval LARP? I'm probably going to be a cook in a GoT LARP and wanted soemthing easy to cook to give the players.

For snacks, make some hardtack. Maybe throw in some sugar and cinnamon, though that wouldn't be as "thematic". You could also / instead make some sweet biscuits.

For drinks, you could serve water, beer or cider. You could also buy some non-alcoholic imitation alcohol for non-drinkers.

For the meal, I would serve a meat-and-vegetable stew. This might be any usual culinary meat except chicken, since I don't really like chicken stews. If I could get it, I would use wild boar or venison but pork or beef would also be fine.

I'd serve the stew with some good-quality rye, sourdough or wholemeal bread and a block of butter. If you can get dripping, then you could also supply that.

For desert, I'd suggest an apple pie, maybe spiced with cloves or cinnamon. If you can get sharp fruit like blackberries, then put those in the pie as well. Serve it with cream.
