The updated Modern Metagame is below.

Understanding Tiers
Modern Nexus metagame stats are prevalence-based numbers reflecting how frequently a deck appears in tournament Top 8s, Top 16s, and Day 2s (as well as MTGO finishers). It does not consider a deck’s Match Win Percentage (MWP) or other “performance-based” metrics. A deck can be an excellent strategy and a strong metagame choice regardless of its tier, although there is certainly a correlation between frequently played decks and high-performing decks.
Sources
Data for each tab is taken from the following sources, broken down by tab:
Metagame – MTGO: All 4-0 and 3-1 decks from all published MTGO dailies on the Wizards website. Includes 5-0 finishes in published Leagues and all published finishes from Premiers, PTQs, etc.
Metagame – Paper: All T8 and T16 events for all paper tournaments, regardless of size, drawn from a range of metagame websites.
Metagame – Major Paper T8: All T8 and T16 finishes from Modern Pro Tour, Grand Prix, and SCG Open events.
Metagame – Major Paper Day 2: All Day 2 metagame statistics for Modern Pro Tour, Grand Prix, and SCG Open events.

Tier Calculations
Tournament finishes for all decks in the format are tracked in the spreadsheet above. All decks receive 0-3 points in four separate categories, and then receive a total score based on the sum of their points. The decks with the highest points are considered Tier 1. Decks with slightly less points, but still passing a certain dynamic cutoff, are considered Tier 2. Finally, decks in the lowest cutoff bracket are considered Tier 3.
Points are awarded in each category based on a 95% confidence interval for average prevalences and how far outside of that confidence interval a deck’s prevalence falls. This gives us a statistically supported way of determining whether a deck is overperforming or underperforming, in a way that is transparent to all users and more “objective” than just grading decks based on personal preference. As an added bonus, the cutoffs are dynamic based on the current metagame, instead of semi-arbitrary cutoffs that are relics of older metagames no longer applicable today. So in one update, the 95% confidence interval for average prevalence on MTGO might be .95%-1.05%, with a standard deviation of 1.5%. But in another update, that interval might be 1%-1.5% and the standard deviation could be 2%. This higher variance metagame would naturally have different cutoffs than the lower variance one.
Finally, after all decks have been awarded a point total, we take the average of that point total and then set a Tier 1 cutoff at two standard deviations over that average total. Any deck with points that exceed that cutoff is considered Tier 1. Any deck that does not quite meet the Tier 1 cutoff but still meets the dynamic Tier 2 cutoff (typically 1-2 points) is then considered Tier 2. Any deck that has greater than 0 points but less than the Tier 2 cutoff qualifies as Tier 3.

>>47524047
Here is the system that is used to award points to decks in the four different categories:
MTGO
1 point: Prevalence > upper 95% interval for average prevalence
2 points: Prevalence > upper 95% interval for average + 1stdev prevalence
3 points: Prevalence > upper 95% interval for average + 2stdev prevalence
Paper
1 point: Prevalence > upper 95% interval for average prevalence
2 points: Prevalence > upper 95% interval for average + 1stdev prevalence
3 points: Prevalence > upper 95% interval for average + 2stdev prevalence
GP/PT T8/T16
1 point: Prevalence > average weighted showings of T8/T16 decks
2 points: Prevalence > average + 1stdev for weighted showings of T8/T16 decks
3 points: Prevalence > average + 2stdev for weighted showings of T8/T16 decks
GP/PT Day 2
1 point: Prevalence > average prevalence
2 points: Prevalence > average + 1stdev prevalence
3 points: Prevalence > average + 2stdev prevalence

This is a oneshot taking place in the snowy reaches of Alaska, in a peculiar little town known as Meadow-Harbor. Superstition abounds in these neck of the woods, with mysterious and ancient glyphs sighted in numerous nearby areas. There's an old man who's determined to not let any meddlers get inadvertently injured or killed, even if he has to stop them 'for their own good'. The only ally available to you is the local camp counselor. Will you be able to take down the monster that's been stalking this remote and snowy locale for centuries, or will you end up as another meal for it to scrounge on?
Still looking for three more players.

Somewhere out there, the Ascetic is waiting. Waiting, and drawing his plans.
Not so long ago, the knowledge that he had a plan, a real plan, would have brought you some comfort. Anything, you thought at the time, would be better than a wild drive towards anarchy. Now that you know his plan, the brute simplicity of it, you're not so sure.
If anything, it can hardly be called a plan – kill the Emperor, and relish in the chaos that follows. That simplicity is a strength. Until the sorcerer is caught – killed – you won't be able to rest, to let down your guard or even to stray too far from the Emperor. If the Ascetic really is watching and waiting for the perfect moment to strike, you can't give him a single second of weakness.
You don't take on this vigil out of any particular love for the Emperor, or for the regime he leads, but because of the land itself. The Ascetic was right about that part – to slay a beast, you cut off its head. If the Emperor should die suddenly, the following infighting would tear the land apart.
And that, you cannot accept or allow.

“This place feels like home,” Murasa, captain of the Hijiri, says as she guides her vessel into the capital, “I never realised how depressing that was. Folks like me, we weren't supposed to feel at home in a place like this. Still, I've got to admit... there's something nice about having a place to come back to. You ever feel like that, friend?”
Thinking of Howa and the Nameless Temple, you nod. The life of a rootless traveller is fine for a while, but as you get older, you started yearning for the chance to settle down, to enjoy life at a slower pace.
“Less of that “getting older” talk,” Murasa warns you, “We're not on dry land yet, so I'm still in charge here. I'll still toss you overboard.”
Of course, you sigh, that old threat again.
“I'll do it this time,” she insists, “I'll... huh, what's all this about? Looks like we've got ourselves a welcoming committee.”
Following the path of Murasa's pointed finger, you spot a small group of soldiers – bearing jade armbands, the sign of the palace guard – waiting at the dock for you. As the Hijiri eases in, and you stride off the vessel, the soldiers approach you.
“We have our orders to see you to the palace,” the officer in charge begins, looking straight into your eye. If he's trying to intimidate you, he'll have a hard job of it. “Immediately,” he adds after a moment, “However, I also have orders to state that you are not under arrest.”
Well that's good, you tell him calmly, isn't it? Waving goodbye to Murasa – she is, apparently, no longer needed – you follow the group of soldiers. After marching in silence for a while, the officer slows to match your pace.
“My orders were to see you to the Emperor's advisor,” he says carefully, “But he is currently attending to business. Is there anyone else I can take you too, until he returns?”

reminder: reality has always conflicts of moral standards
as long as intelligent beings exist , morals will always collide, even in fantasy
that being said, if paladins can not solve a situation of conflicting morals without falling , you are either too stupid or you play a game with faulty design. there has never been a "lol you fall" situation you couldnt have solved with some knowledge.
>>47538062
>you are either too stupid or you play a game with faulty design
Or you have a shitty GM.
Your point is fundamentally undermined by the existence of the GM. While in an abstract sense it is correct, the 'lol u fall' situations are almost never due to actual moral complexity, and simply due to the will of a malicious omnipotent entity, within the context of the game.
With a fair GM, a Paladin player is unlikely to ever fall if they act with a little forethought and self awareness.
With an unfair GM, your paladin falls no matter what you do, because you will be consistently denied a good option.

Player-created ones, to facilitate player characters, additionally to allow players to contribute to creation in the setting they inhabit.

I ran a game once where the group was trying to figure out who the bbeg was so I gave little hints with weapons, armor, and treasure throughout the campaign. Most of the hints were historical linked so there's that.
I recently played a demo game of Dropfleet Commander, which was pretty fun. Now i'm considering getting into tabltop gaming.
Tell me about your favourite tabletop game and why I should check it out. If it lines up with my preferences all the better.
I prefer:
- no historical wargaming
- single book for all rules
- scifi/cyberpunk/steampunk setting
- low buy-in price, but thats not as relevant
Before I heard about:
WH40K - apparently played by everybody
Dropfleet Commander - seeting seems sorta cookie cutter
Warmachine Hordes - i know nothing about this
Infinity - i know nothing
Wolsung - The minis look neat
TL;DR: Sell me on your favourite tabletop game, discuss beginners and bump with sweet miniatures pics
Malifaux is a Weird Gothic Horror Steampunk wargame with small warbands and a low buy-in price. The rulebook has a gamer edition for about 10 bucks and the model count is low. I'm not playing it, because I prefer smaller scales, but you might want to check it out.

>Infinity
A game with a solid ruleset, but a whole lot of crunch. It takes some effort to dive into the game, but the company provides all the rules free, a free rules wiki, and a free armybuilder app so pretty much all the heavy lifting save for actually reading the rules is done for you.
There's a huge amount of interplay between different kinds of models, the system the game is based on actually simulated real life tactics decently, and it's actually pretty swift and fast-paced for a tabletop game, at least when you've got the game down.
Key elements that make Infinity different: Orders and Automatic Reaction Orders (AROs).
Orders are basically points your team generates so you can move dudes around. You can move the same dude or the same few dudes as many times as you have orders to spend on them, instead of having to move every model every turn. Conversely, every model that has Line of Sight or has the acting model in its Zone of Control (8" from the model) can act on it. Meaning, you can take that big, scary robot and start mowing down dudes, but every time it acts it'll be vulnerable to return fire from everyone that can see it. Because of this, cover and proper position are key to the game's strategy.
The game has many pitfalls for new players, and like all games expect to lose a good amount of your first matches, but otherwise it's actually fairly decently balanced. Price is much more expensive on a per-mini basis, but if you're a thrifty shopper you can have a tournament-ready list in under 200 USD. Terrain is something you'll need a good amount of, but there's some very cheap cardstock sets sold through Corvus Belli's website in a few different print styles.
I'm tired of Vanancian casting.
What game systems out there use MP instead of spell slots?and are also good
Why are you tired of Vancian magic? :curious:

Is it actually possible to run a good campaign in this setting? Has anyone ever done it?First three seasons or GTFO
Sure, lots of people have done it.

The anime is structured a lot like a game to begin with.
>>47526325
Not sure desu. One problem with the anime is the vast difference in power levels between different mons.
>agumon ultimate level:
>get a chain arm, and can fly, and turn metal, and can shoot rockets from his boobs
>palmon ultimate level:
>can make people be nice to you sometimes, if they don't straight up resist it
I'm not sure how to build that level of power imbalance into a system while not making it incredibly broken

Recap: You are ANON, the RED JOKER. In our last installment, the grueling battle against the SMILERS concluded.
All that remains is ALURA.
>>47537759
(Gentlemen, for those not up to speed: In our previous episodes, the Smilers succeeded in seizing control of the Diadem, and proceeded to bombard the city of Arcadia. Hundreds of people were incinerated in the barrage. Others were harvested by Players, or torn apart by the Cryptids unleashed from the Diadem.
You gathered a strike team of Armaros, the Thief, Daegal, Rook and Distortion Haze to infiltrate the Diadem via a teleportation portal, with the intent to sabotage it from within and stop the slaughter. Simultaneously, the survivors of the initial attack - Including a number of newly-awakened Players - staged a breakout attempt, to destroy the Shield Pylons preventing their escape from the area.
After battling your way through the Diadem, your team encountered Rust Kaiser, Calcite Arrow, Enfer, Alura Une, Bell Zephyr and Inox Fang. You defeated them, after a grueling battle - But not without cost, as Armaros was killed by Rust Kaiser and Bell Zephyr.
Alura is the last survivor of the battle. It appears that Pazuzu has stripped her of her powers and withdrawn all support, leaving her in her fragile Hyades form.
I highly advise that you read the - very brief - previous episode, as this is a direct continuation.)
> [X] "Is that all you have left, Alura?"
The smile slips off her face. Tear-streaked, her hair in disarray, she's still beautiful - objectively so. But the spite that makes her face curdle, twist upon itself - just a spasm, a moment then gone - makes her look mundane, only for an instant; like everyone else. It ruins the illusion.
"Oh, there's more. A lot more."
She turns to you, her face unhappy, but her posture provocative.
"-I can be anything you want. You know this. I can't fight you - *I* know this."
(Continued)
>>47537789
Dark almond eyes look at you, moist and miserable. Her slim fingers move to the clasps of her dress, the rounded tops of her breasts pressing up against the silken fabric.
"Come on - We both know where this is leading. I know you're going to."
"You're going to sculpt me into whatever sick punishment shape you want, and I'll crawl and debase myself, and we'll both know who has the power *then*-"
> "I'm not you."
The words hang in the air, for what seems like an eternity.
Alura's expression tightens. There is a flash of - something - in her eyes.
> "You wanted to be beautiful, didn't you Alura? Too bad that no mask can hide the ugliness behind it."
She flinches - Actually flinches. For a moment, she looks hurt, almost frightened-
And now you see what's in her eyes.
Hatred.
"Charming," she sneers - Her lip curling. "-Is that what you told Cybele, when she crawled into your bed?"
Her voice is soft, now. Softer.
"He'll kill you, *Joker*. Pazuzu is your death."
There is a hiss to her words, a bitter snap.
"But he's not the one you need to fear-"
Alura bites her lip, hard enough to draw blood. A bead of it traces the curve of her chin.
"-Because deep down, he's as pathetic and lonely as you. Chasing the same dead woman. Making excuses for her, again and again-"
She swallows, hard, before she chokes on her own hatred. Her bosom heaves, drawing deep breaths - Fingers curled into claws.
"-Do you even know what Naoya's doing to Mio, *right now*?"
Daegal, some distance away, stiffens - Frozen in the action of reaching for the Condemner.
There is a feverish light in Alura's eyes, almost spitting the words, flecking her full lips.
"She needed you - She *made* you her protector - and you couldn't even do that. How does it feel, Joker? How does it feel to be some miserable girl's *wet dream*-?"
