What's the worst weapon you've ever used against a campaign's big bad?
Puns.

Nicole, the Spartan II from DoA. I brought her back to Halo and we used out of context BS to win the war in style.
So what;s your favorite material to work with, /jc/? What fictional substance have you found that you find yourself incorporating into a lot of your projects? Adamantium? Dreamstone? Orichalcum?
The night of Gemini is frigid, a harsh, biting cold as the frost in the street is illuminated by the glow of the planet's twin above. The streets are empty, the shops all closed, and a strange, almost inaudible hum of machinery emanates from the sewer grate in front of the machine shop as it sits in the dark, closed for the night. Inside, beside the massive bulk of the complex holo-printer, a bolt breaks through the cement floor, sending small bits of dust into the air. Several more follow suit, sending cracks shooting through the floor between them as a circle forms around the machine.
Beneath the streets, at least a hundred taidarens toil in the darkness, clicking, whistling, and singing merely as several groups of triplets with multiple hands showing missing fingers scuttle their way to the front of the pack where a massive makeshift collection of scaffolding has been set up, with pulleys and winches strapped this way and that all leading to a number of gas powered motors idling on standby. They climb the scaffolding, clutching their bags, and one by one pull out a series of small looking cubes of putty, sticking each one in a slender line along the carved out underside of the shop above. The taidarens around them dive into the waters below and scurry away as the set of triplets empty their bags one by one, tossing them onto their backs, each covered in a patchwork of flame resistant cloth, and they begin attaching the wires to the metal bolts, the small, durable detonators drilled into the concrete.

First for Ultramarines are cool
Reposting, I put this at the very end of the last thread.
What's more broken or overpowered? Corsairs or Craftworld Eldar? I started my Dark Eldar army, but I want to get some occasional games in as Corsairs, but the guy in our group who easily has over 5000 pts of CWE says Corsairs are worse.

Agree.
What's the /tg/ equivalent of this?

just keep lecturing people on how your niche RPG system is superior
until someone runs it for you
Just keep min/maxing.
Until you win at D&D.

A thread dedicated to discussion and feedback of games and homebrews made by /tg/ regarding anything from minor elements to entire systems, as well as inviting people to playtest your games online. While the thread's main focus is mechanics, you're always welcome to share tidbits about your setting.
Try to keep discussion as civilized as possible, avoid non-constructive criticism, and try not to drop your entire PDF unless you're asking for specifics, it's near completion or you're asked to.

any advice for a beginner?
I wanna make a Gundam game using ORE Mecha (maybe modify some shit and take stuff from other ORE games)
Shinobi Quest #7
This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.
(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime, Hinata Hyuuga, Nori Uzumaki and Ebisu Hiruko set out for their first official mission as Team 7, under Ebisu’s leadership. The group headed to the village of Katabami, in the Land of Rivers, escorting a tax official, Yoku, who was employed by the Daimyo of the Land of Fire. Although none of the young shinobi were particularly happy about the implications of the mission, they were somewhat relieved not to be chasing cats.
After arriving in Katabami, Yoku and Team 7 went to the local inn to rest up for the night, while Tsuki decided to stay alert. Her decision soon paid off, as she was able to catch a local man attempting to dispose of Yoku. After distracting him with a pose and some flashy words, the man was subdued. Ebisu and Nori were able to interrogate the man, and learned that the Village elder’s son had a plot to stop Yoku and “Save the Village”, but had disappeared, causing the young man to act when he saw the group alive.
We rejoin Team 7 the next morning, overseeing the payment, when a sudden storm had rolled in, despite the clear skies mere moments before…..
“Sensei, it’s raining.” you hear HInata’s voice, coming from above. She had been stationed on the roof to keep watch with her Byakugan.
“Strange, it was clear just a moment ago. But rain itself isn’t much to worry about.” Ebisu responds to her.
You take a moment to look outside- sure enough, it’s started to rain.
While Yoku and the Village Elder are doing business, the sound of the rain falling on the roof mutes their conversation, ever so slightly. You aren’t really paying attention to it, anyway. You’ve been on guard ever since the attempt of Yoku’s life.
Eventually, Hinata’s voice rings out again. “Sensei. Something’s coming. A mist is filling in the south end of the valley….” she pauses. “I can’t see through it with my Byakugan.” she finally states after a few more moments.
Isn’t the Byakugan supposed to unblockable? It couldn’t possibly be natural….
“....Mist, you said?” Ebisu’s voice has hardened.
“Yes, sensei. The rain seems to be coming down harder now, as well….” Hinata reports, quietly.
“Girls, stay inside. Keep watch over Yoku and the Elder.” he orders, exhaling. “It may be nothing, but I fear the Elder’s son may have found that rogue ninja he was looking for.”
Ebisu rises, checks his gear, then walks outside, into the rain.
You…
1. Listen to your sensei. Stay here, stay on guard.
2. Follow him.
3. Have one of your teammates follow him.

>1. Listen to our sensei.
We aren't crass barbarians like Nori. We know how to follow rules.
Was Link a bard?
We actually had the whole build for him, I think it was for 3.5 / PF and yeah, most class levels were in bard, for UMD.
No. Link is a hero. He doesn't have a class. He doesn't fit within the D&D paradigm. He's just Link, the hero.
Link doesn't fit very well into RPG systems, for being a master of all trades who can perform any task with distinction.
Imagine a situation: you are a lead developer of D&D 6e. What will you change and create?
Will you power up martials or nerf wizards?
Will you replace ft by meters or grid cells?
Will you gravitate towards sandboxery or more rigid settings?
What will you do with alignments?
Will you add more races, monsters, weapons?
Will you make combat more lethal or more power fantasy?
Will you finally make actual rules for things that don't involve mass murder?
>>47508371
I would get rid of AC, lower HP and damage, and add dedicated chapters for social encounter rules and exploration.
If I was really going nuts I'd get rid of classes, and make sorcery, wizardry, divine casting, Ki powers, martial maneuvers, etc subsystems that can be learned based on character concept.
>>47508371
None of those things, 5e did fine in most of those areas. The real thing 6e needs to do is have a decent marketing campaign behind it and have an online Resource Database like Pathfinder has.
>>47508371
>Will you power up martials or nerf wizards?
Why does everyone think that 20 levels in a guy with a sword has to be the equal of someone with phenomenal cosmic power.
if swords are as useless as /tg/ says , why were greatswords used as a legit "primary" weapon on battlefields?
an example is the landsknecht or the doppelsöldner who often used those. i cant imagine that they just tried to look cool by buying a weapon that is more expensive but less effective
>>47505760
landsknechten were not "primary" fighting force, they were "commandos" of sorts
>>47505760
Didn't lansknecht mainly use pikes and spears?
zweihanders mainly being used like axes, to chop the enemy's pike heads off? And only secondarily for swordplay?
>>47505805
>chopping pike heads off
as far as i know , that is pretty difficult to do , even with a chopping weapon . it's a bitch to get the right angle on a moving object
For some reason this game has the most amazing, cutting-edge adventure modules I've read in years. They are edgy as fuck but in a good, mind-boggling way.
>Bad Myrmidon
>Vornheim
>Deep Carbon Observatory
>Death Frost Doom
The Monolith from Beyond Time and Space is a betterCall of Cthulhuadventure than anyCoCmodule I've ever read.
Why did this particular retro-clone attract so many good writers?
>>47504692
Isn't the main writer, Raggi, more pretentious than John Wick?
A lot of the modules aren't really playable. Alternatively, they have no point. The Tower of Love and Death Frost Doom are especially bad, given the big twist to each of them.
Like, they seem gimmicky for no real reason.
>>47504692
Fuck it, I just like the system.
>fighters get to hit shit
>specialists get to do shit
>casters get to cast shit
>healers get to heal shit
I ran this for some first-timers and they picked it up quick as hell. Actually ended up being a decent session in a a generic homebrew setting.
>>47504835
I wouldn't say pretentious, I'd say very strongly opinionated.
The gimmicks do have a reason: horror. DFD is a homage to a specific series of movies and it works very well for creating an atmosphere of doom and no-win despair, something other games often fail at.
>>47504918
That too, but I was less impressed with the system than the bizarre adventure ideas.
Got dang it Bobby, why'd you have to go and blow your allowance on an army like the "Tau"? What if the neighbors see?
You should have gotten some of those Ultramarines, they have the same coloured uniforms as the Dallas Cowboys! Why, even that Calgar fella reminds me of Tom Landry!
>>47492641

>>47492837
No, Hank is more about the Sister of Battles.
