What's the most "psssh... nothing personnel... kid" character/player you've had to deal with in tabletop roleplaying?
Recently a new player joined our D&D playgroup and the kid rolled, I shit you not, a fucking vampire ninja who licks the blood off his blade after every fight...
>>47412113
He was some sort of rogue with robot eyes from the future in a medieval fantasy campaign.
He quietly dropped like two sessions later when he realized nobody gave a damn.
I once sold my team out to the BBEG
from them on I was never allowed to play a rogue again (best group decision ever made imo).
>>47412113
in fairness, that's pretty in character for a vampire.
and ninja is a profession vampire would fit well into.
are they actually roleplaying as an edgelord or are you just taking it at face value and deciding it's 2edgy4u?
Why are high level wizards far more powerful than high level fighters?
To make up for the fact that a housecat can kill a 1st level wizard
>>47485104
Because HL wizards have a certain mastery over time and space.
HL fighters have mastery over a piece of iron and how to move it.
>>47485104
Wizards bend reality itself while fighters can only bend over.
You are the newly crowned King / Queen of the Elves.
Your General who is also your personal guardian, seneschal, companion and best friend/lover has had great grievances against orc kind for the slaughter of many elves past and present, including his close kin and the burning of ancestral elven homes, dwellings, and the desecration of the dead.
The orcs have for the longest time been under the rulership of a reincarnating bloody orc warlord, and not even the elves can remember what the orcs were like before this figure took command, if they were at all any different.
After a terrifying battle which risked the future of your people, through the tactics and battle prowess of your General, you prevailed, killing permanently the orc warlord. Your General now calls for the immediate extermination of all orcs in their homesteads. Every last orc, including the non combatants and children. A thorough extermination.
If you refuse, he will likely abandon you and order his men to do this action regardless, which will likely require that you imprison/banish your most brilliant and powerful ally and draw grievance within your own people.
If you permit him this action, you possibly lose an unknown new race as an ally that is now free from an oppressive warlord that you might use to your advantage later on as well as condone genocide against individuals who had only an indirect contribution of manufacturing arms and children and otherwise supporting the war effort against your people.
What action do you choose?
>>47484406
Kill the orcs. You know what you got, but not what you will get. Making things workout with the orcs is going to take efforts in the future and any outcome is uncertain.
>>47484406
Slaughter them all anon!
And use the warlords body to try and unlock the mystery of reincarnation.
Because you know, when the assassin's come knocking, you might as well invite them for tea, because they can't do jack shit.
>>47484406
>condone genocide against individuals who had only an indirect contribution of manufacturing arms and children and otherwise supporting the war effort against your people.
If they didn't actively work against it then they condoned it and can be held as responsible as those who carried a sword. Kill the men and children, leave the women as play things for our troops, then dispose of them when finished.
Now the question becomes, what to do about these uppity humans?
its always bothered me how hit points are this weird arbitrary number where you just keep hitting something to no effect until it just suddenly drops dead.
any of yall got interesting subs/variants for standard hp?
>>47483977
HPs are the most realistic system.
Some people just don't die, even after sustaining seemingly fatal injuries.
Some people die after taking seemingly nonfatal injuries.
That's HP. An all encompassing term for "how much hurt do you take before you die". Combination physical endurance and mental fortitude to GRIT your way through injury.
fite me
>>47483977
there's a system for your woes.
>>47483977
my headcanon is that hit points aren't how many hits you can take, but how many hits you're willing to take
like after a certain point you're just like, "no amount of life could be worth this much pain, i give"this is why guts is just a regular human and can tank demons
When you play female characters, do their personalities gravitate towards the Raven or to the Starfire end of the spectrum?
>>47479163
Definitely the Starfire, though they're fine with going Raven if something pisses them off enough or they want to go tsun.
>>47479163
Neither. She's aggressive, brash, works well with teams that listen, and get's the job done at all costs. That is how I play females.
>>47479163
>Do you 1 or 0?
The scale has broader spectrum, OP.
How would you handle a 40K movie? Personally I'd have Gaunt's Ghosts, have a story along the lines of Heart of Darkness.
>>47479126
If it doesn't have space marines then you've just lost 75% of your audience. Guardsmen on their own don't differentiate it enough from every other Band of Brothers-style movie.
I'd love to see this turned into a movie, the only problem is the story would be lost if everything had to be explained in the movie.
Also what >>47479171 said
>>47479126
Remake starship troopers but have a single space marine show up halfway through and kick major ass.

So, why does everyone hate rogue halflings?
How are you supposed to stab someone in the back when you can't fucking reach

>"yeah anon, y part was dumb as fuck, i can't believe you made us do that"
>x part was the one you had to bullshit in 5 minutes because they went in a weird direction
>y part was the one you meticulously crafted and made characterizations/concept art for
god i fucking hate myself
it's been a few months since we last played and they're all mad at me for not having made anything more for the campaign, but i have no fucking idea what they want and it's hard to get motivated when apparently your planning doesn't mean shit as to whether or not they're going to like it
they're all such fucking whiny little bitches about everything too, they always charge in like retards regardless of the nature of the encounter and then complain when a character almost dies and they have to spend a month in some town resting up because a couple of party members got disemboweled
IF YOU HAD FUCKING HAD A PLAN AS TO HOW TO FIGHT THE TRIBAL CHAMPION, MAYBE YOU WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO GET STABBED IN THE GUT FOUR TIMES
>>47454934
Just wing it, roll with the off-kilter punches the players throw. Fudge the dice a little so that interesting stuff happens, not just "you die."
>>47454934
Never meticulously craft anything, classic DM mistake.
Just pay attention to what the player's enjoy and expand that part to fill up the whole game.
>they liked the 5 minute bullshit arsepull
>they didn't like the meticulously crafted portion
>they're all mad at me for not having made anything more for the campaign, but i have no fucking idea what they want
I think you know fine what they want.

I'm doing a Clan retrofit of a captured Panther -10K, and after swapping out the weapons and heat sinks I still have 3.5 tons left.
What should I use them for?
>>47452351
Max the armour. Replace the SRM-4 with an LRM-15 that has 2 tons of ammo. Add a DHS and an ER Medium Laser.
Or boost the speed to 5/8/5 and add 2 ER Mediums.
>>47452351
Active probe and Ecm if You use advanced rules from Tactical Operations.
I am trying to create a list of 3145 experimental tech. Already looked into 3145 NTNU and TRO:Prototypes. To this moment I got just a few things on the list: Har Jel II&III, Chameleon LPS, Null&Void Signature System, Interface Cockpit.
Do You know of any more experimental tech in 3145?
Also anybody knows why are Dragon II 11R and Hatamoto Godai from Kurita 3145 marked as experimental on their record sheets?
Regards and thanks in advance.
Like a character art thread, but add a quote and maybe a theme. Trying to get some inspiration for characters, heroes or villains as long as they get you thinking, so feel free to writefag.
"I can hear you dying. And rightly so."
"I do what I've been doing since we met. I survive."
"Blessed is the aim that seeks out the heretic." ~My DW Ultramarine
I'm rather proud of how grimdark it sounds.
>>47482571
Wouldn't the aim BE seeking the heretic, though?
You are now a wizard /tg/. Not a "choose a spell off a list" kind of wizard but a "turn your will to reality" wizard. Your limitations are as follows
1. You must be able to describe the spell's action and effect in 5 words. For example "Bring that beer to me." or "Break that guy's right leg."
2. Doing things like changing your form, controlling minds or creating lasting enchantments puts a strain on your mind and you can't do more then a handful at once.
What do you do with your new found power?
>>47478738
Incredibly selfish shit.
Win the lottery, get even with some people, get a better car. Nothing fantastic actually.
>>47478784
How much strain would "win the lottery" place on your mind?
>>47479079
I don't think it would work because it's a very vague cause and effect condition. Win how? Which one? The closest you could probably get is to buy a ticket and do "This is the winning ticket"

Would this be a good way to balance spellcasters?
Only if fighters can encounter and capture those spells to gain that ability.
