Hey /tg/.
So there new Warcraft movie has revitalized my interest in the Warcraft setting and franchise, despite that I could never get into wow. (But I did enjoy Warcraft 1,2,3, and always found the setting to be interesting.)
Are there any good options you guys can think of for running a Warcraft campaign aside from the old 3.5 derivative? Perhaps something where the character abilities more closely represent the abilities / magical talents / skills the characters in the various games have?
Have you attempted it in another system? How did it go?
What would you use if you were to run a Warcraft game?
If you would use the 3.5 Warcraft, is there somewhere with classes closer to what characters can do in the various videogames/novels and less of a slight reflavoring on d&d 3.5 classes?

Tweak Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd edition to be more survivable and a bit more epic fantasy and it will be very ez to learn. Replace flavor names like Ulric's Fury with proper ones.

>Tweak Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd edition to be more survivable
But it's garbage and you can't.

Tweak whfrp.
The amount of tweaking you'd need to get it to Warcraft per levels; it would be scarcely recognizable. You might as well be starting with call of Cthulhu.
ITT: We find theme songs for the Five Colors.
This may have been done before, but I just think it'd be fun. We'll go through the five primaries and then find themes for two-color combinations, and then 3s if the thread doesn't die.

I'd like the art to be like high-end JRPG type stuff, but whatever goes.
(Don't have much of the stuff myself; hence the pathfinder-y image)
EXAMPLE:
Mercenary

Oracle

How do you think a completely alien setting would go in a medieval time period? Has anyone found anything similar to this?

Ah shit, should have mentioned before, Pic unrelated.
The High Crusade by Poul Anderson

What is your most original cape /tg/? I have made quite a few and I personally really like the ones that are original or just a little changed in order to make them more interesting.
I'll start with my personal favorite. He doesn't have a name but he is a slight change on the multiple man type of superhero. He makes a duplicate of himself and turns into a swarm of himself. Now the special twist is that the clones don't go away. If they die there is a body if he makes more than are needed they live on. Because of this the city he operates in has around a thousand of him. After every battle they draw straws to see who goes back to the old life they once had. Most of the hobos in his city are him. I would really love to see some more super heroes like this who are just different enough to become very interesting.
I would also like to apologize for my grammar. English is my second language.
I had an idea for a slice of life with monsters, but out of that idea came a guy who was a ghost inhabiting the body of his comatose twin.
He'd be able to leave "his" body and do things like remote viewing, later on maybe a bit of poltergeist stuff (which would look like telekinesis when he's in his body). But being a ghost outside a body can be dangerous and can leave you vulnerable to scarier things
He'd do the ghost whisperer/PI thing as well as some light crime fighting

Swashbuckling adventures in Not!Europe. "Dramatic Action" focused system, made so you can feel empowered and do as much cool stuff as possible, but 2nd edition is a bit more light on rules and stronger reliant on narrative.

So the book is out to backersand general publicfor a few days...
What is your opinion on the changes, now confirmed? Is porting characters from 1st ed/d20 worth the hassle? Does it feel the same?

I dunno I'll have to take a closer look at the changes, thanks very much for the link. I wish I'd been following this more closely because I used to dig this game so much

How would Shadowrun Earth prepare for a full scale XCOM Alien invasion?
>>47862904
Compared to some of the dangers Shadowrun universe faces on an almost daily basis (INSECT SPIRITS), XCom aliens don't even rate on the radar.
>>47862904
Magic and drugs.
>>47862968
Not necessarily in that order
I'm playing in a Shadowrun 4th (ish) group. We were framed by someone in our company, Ares. Our GM expected us to clear our names like normal people, but, since it's our last gaming campaign, we're shooting way higher: Take down Ares itself, either take it over or destroy it. Thing is, I've never played Shadowrun before and am way over my head here.
Our team is an Elf face, a human drone rigger who mostly recons and spies, a troll with a motorcycle and acid sword, and me.
My character is an ork, former Olympic boxer who lost his arm in an accident that defamed him and lost him his titles. He has a cyber arm and mostly just is going through his midlife crisis, looking to discover his limits. He's got a ton of mechanical skills like in automotive and aeronautical engineering.
So far we've taken over a gang called the Predators and my character was in charge of expanding its territory and making other gangs want to keep away. I drew enough attention that we got the police chief himself to show up, and we took him down and got mostly free reign in the area. We're getting contacts, but don't see ourselves becoming big-time-- Ares doesn't even consider us above a nuisance.
Basicallt, I'm asking you guys for help. You're the creative ones who have experience here, and I'm just some schmoe who hits stuff really hard. I can try to improve my mechanical stuff to maybe pull some shenanigans, but I'm still unsure. I know Ares has that big space gun, and I also know about Dankwalther and his failure.
Taking down a megacorp as I understand it is like taking down a god in a fantasy setting, so you're basically just shooting too high

This. And if the GM allows it, he doesn't deserve to GM because he's not running a game, he's running a masturbation session.
>>47862598
It's closer to "I want to kill NATO"
Impossible for other reasons.
So I want to get into this. I have no cards and no idea how to play.
Any good kits or packages to buy that can get me started?
>>47861995
Step One: Realize card games are trash.
Step Two: Play literally any other kind of game.
I'd seriously consider the Bejeweled addicts to be higher up on the ladder than CCG nerds.
>>47861995
Step one: Find a friend who wants to play too
Step two: Buy a pair of duel decks
Step three: Read the instructions they come with
>>47861995
you down load magic duels from steam for free
Is there any setting where mages are a race on their own like mutants from X-Men? I mean average mage is far superior to some mortal piece of shit to begin with so why not just admit they are completly different, superior people? I'm laughing at warriors, rogues, assasins and other obsolete garbage.
>>47861653
DnD/Pathfinder(cringe) have Sorcerers... and while it doesn't exactly rub their superiority in your face, they DO get their powers from their bloodlines, so in essence they're genetically different than average people.
No tabletop setting is going to do things in a way that rubs the superiority of mages in everyone's faces, it wouldn't make for a balanced or fun game for anyone playing any other class. The anime/manga Magi ends up doing this a little later on though.
>>47861653
How about you write that setting, then play in it.
Please.
Have fun with it.
>>47861653
No, because that would be a boring and trashy setting.
Thoughts?

Pow, gangsta shit.
>Play begins with all the items inside the box and the stack of cards on top of the box. The top card is revealed and players put their hands inside the box and attempt to recover, by feel only, the item pictured on the card. The winner is the player who finds more of the items.
