Does your character ever write letters home?
What do they tell their parents about their adventures?

What stories would a character be telling about themselves?
What does /tg/ think of live-streamed tabletop games like pic related?

It's shit.

1000% better if there are no e-celebrities, also no actual celebrities either.
There's like 2 good ones, you kinda need people who are not only creative but also funny and/or good voice actors to make it entertaining.
>everyone in the high fantasy setting gets hit with a regression spell
>people turn into savages
>animals turn into prehistoric versions of themselves

There's about a 99% chance that already exists
No, that's a retarded ass concept.
Say you wanted to completely fuck someone based on their class without killing them, how would you go about it? Cutting a wizard off from whatever the source of magic would be pretty obvious or stripping a barbarian of nearly every emotion.
I'm asking because I'm designing a couple of NPCs for an upcoming game, their story is that they were adventurers who decided to take on the Unseelie court a decade or two ago and lost, but instead of killing them the Unseelie stripped them of their means of resistance to watch the adventurers suffer before tossing them back into the world.
Mind rape is a pretty universal way to do it you're going a Fae route. Any kind of mental block that prevents them from using their abilities.
>Barbarian
No longer able to feel emotion, as you said.
>Bard
Forgets his musical talent and practice, forcibly made tone deaf.
>Cleric
Mental block on his faith, unable to even think about his god or religion or forced disbelief in the divine.
>Druid
Disrupt training and enjoyment of nature, unable to feel empathy for the wild, possibly an irresistible urge to stay in urban environments.
>Fighter
Make him forget all his weapon/armor training to the point he's barely able to even recognize them or tell weapons apart. Add in general uncoordination and klutzyness, too.
>Monk
Forgetting training, inability to feel inner peace or enlightenment, can't relax enough for meditation, etc.
>Paladin
Combo of Cleric and Fighter.
>Ranger
Same with Druid and Fighter.
>Rogue
Again, forgetting training and experience, made mentally unable to make precise movements without shaking, or removing volume control coupled with a kind of tourettes.
>Sorcerer
More about forgetting experience than training, along with a mental block on storing magic in their mind. Maybe removing their control so their powers go wild to the detriment of themselves and everyone around them.
>Wizard
Inability to remember spells and all they've learned or more or less all you need.
Couple these things with a block on the ability to learn or retain specific relevant information, so they can't retrain themselves but are still capable of functioning in non-adventuring life, stuck with the knowledge that they'll never be able to become powerful again.

Do you want to make an encounter or just tell a story? If the latter, anything that could break a normal man works, really. It doesn't have to be specifically "HE WAS AN ARCHIVIST SO WE BURNED HIS LIBRARY DOWN" for everyone, you might not convey any message if you focus too much on classes instead of actual adventurers.
>>47868223
>Cutting the thumbs off the wizard.
>The more intense his emotion, the colder the Barbarian gets.
>The Clerics heals wounds by taking the target's wounds upon himself.
ITT: We groupthink a dungeon from start to finish as a group, similar to the setting threads we have regularly.
We are tabling the issue of system and mechanical statblock use with the dungeon for now.
Feel free to explore or add ideas to any idea here.
>>47868095
Things we need to decide for each dungeon:
Scenario:
>Race against time; a methodical expedition into waiting dangers; a dense horde of enemies; a search and rescue; a snatch and grab; a cat and mouse with a monster; Other
>A dungeon should be a story. It doesn't have to be a grand, epic story, but it should have some kind of beginning, buildup with some setbacks, and eventual climax. They can be traps, puzzles, combat encounters, even just some drama, but think of your dungeon as being a story that your party someday might tell someone else over a beer.
History/Purpose/Layout:
>The first thing I do is work out a purpose for the location and its history, then a reasonable layout, then figure out how time has fucked it up and made it MAZE-LIKE but not a full on maze.
>This also means I'm fond of traps that logically could reset on their own or be capable of multiple uses before a need to be maintained.
>I usually worry about this too, but not in secret or sealed areas that couldn't have been disturbed. I pull out all the stops for those.
History: What created the dungeon and what happened since
Purpose: What the dungeon physically is: Laboratory; Prison; Hideout; Temple; Cavern; Abandoned mine; Other
>>47868107
Layout: How it is structure to achieve its purpose, reflecting its current status and architectural style
>Not every room is going to have a thing living in it, either, depending on its purpose. Sometimes you just find an empty dining hall, or an old bathroom. Pantries, armories, cells if it's an actual prison dungeon. If there's a bunch of kobolds living in one room, but it's the third subbasement and you need the magic red key to open up the floor above them, how the fuck did they get down there and what the fuck are they eating?
>Where would the enemies be hanging out? Is this their dwelling, or did they recently ransack the place? Would they place traps in their wake in hopes of capturing nosy adventurers? Where would these being keep their treasures? Where would well-equipped, less fortunate adventurers die, leaving both a warning, and their equipment for the betterment of the party?
Denizens and Inhabitants: People and bests within the dungeon; Current/Former
>If there's creatures living in it, how are they alive? Where do they get water from? How does the ecosystem sustain itself? If there's larger predator creatures, what are they eating? Is there enough prey creatures to sustain them?
Traps, Puzzles, and Doors: Physical impediments to proceeding; Lethal, alerting, confining, active, static, resetting, other
Hooks and Lures: Why the PCs will enter the dungeon
>Maybe people have been disappearing, and your dungeon has a big bone pile in it somewhere. Merchants along a trade road being robbed, and your dungeon is just a small horde of bandits guarding bolts of fine cloth and crates of fine porcelain in a store room towards the back. Maybe the government is unstable, and so this dungeon is an underground resistance cell with lot of traps but few desperate, poorly equipped defenders, with partial plans of a greater plot on one of their bodies being the only treasure of note.

Random Dungeon:
The Dead Gods dungeon was started by rolling on the random dungeon generator, modifying as seen fit.
Feel free to try it yourself, like this anon:
>A forgotten dungeon beneath a castle. Inside a certain room has a skull on a pike that whispers dark words. bugbears live in the dungeon. There are many risks of being possessed by demons inside these walls. The bugbear's treasure is a onyx demon statue. This dungeon is known to have an infamous torture chamber filled with steam fissures. There is an ancient well leading to a dark world somewhere deep inside. Arcane loadstones cover the dungeon's walls limiting the use of magic.

SCP RPG Art Thread

SCP is dumb, and an RPG of it would be even dumber.
The concept wouldn't be based off of the actual video game slender clone. You'd actually be a team of higher rank within the organization as a Mobile Task Force. Your job, Secure Contain Protect with minimal witnesses and casualties. Using the entire SCP database as your Monster Manual. Visiting the entire world with various environments as well as anything within the Sci-fi genre. I know it doesn't appeal to everyone, but I also don't care.
>>47866108
>Using the entire SCP database as your Monster Manual.
There's your problem right there. Everything there is masturbatory fanfiction-tier writing, kills people instantly and arbitrarily, or just isn't suited to any kind of interesting encounter. It's not a universe made for playing around in.

Hey /tg/, long time lurker here. My group of friends is rotating along who gets to be DM, and sooner rather then later it'll be my turn. So far, we started with a fantasy adventure in not!Lord of the Rings, STALKER using Gurps, and the next two are going to be our Dragonage fanboy's wet dream and a 16th century adventure of perils and regret.
**End Context**
I want to go to space, maybe have my PCs be on a ship. What system(free would be best) would be good for 2-6 people, not including DM?
Also, I would like to set my RP in either starwars or Halo, but I think that I'd enjoy it a lot more then the players.

>starwars or Halo
Wildly different in tone, but each is possible in GURPS
-BAsic set has force swords and psychic powers built in for star wars. Go with cinematic skills (weapon master jedi or Trained by a master Jedi) and then everyones on the same par with point totals. No 'jedi are flat superior' issues there
-Halo will probably need Ultratech for some gun porn, but not much, as the weapon slection is minimal/streamlined in that universe. Each player who is a spartan is likely built into a suit of power armor straight from the basic set(again) and easily fits the bill of super soldier at that point, regardless of how they buy up skills and advantages.
