Does anyone actually play this format? Seems like a good way to subvert the typical expense of building more popular deck types. Plus it might interesting to be collecting / playing cards that otherwise never see any use in any standard tournament formats.
>>48550374
Depends alot on your area.
I play it, but I have realised that to get people into it you needed to make Duel Decks for it. I have about four well balanced Pauper Decks that I use and share when others are interested in trying it. So far people have liked it, but they haven't really made their own decks yet.
Yes, a lot of people play it where I live.
It's a lot of fun and it feels very unexplored and unexpensive compared to Modern. You can build many decks without worrying about not liking it enough to make the investment.
I'm currently playing Soldiers and incomplete MBC, building Auras Hexproof and planning to build Allies and RG Madness.

I wish people around here played it, i'd play the unholy shit out of MTG with pauper.

How do we make dwarves not shit again?
>>48552212
You can't really change Dwarves without removing what it is that makes them Dwarves. Dwarves are stout, traditional, industrious miners with a subterranean lifestyle and a fondness for drink.
If you radically alter them from this definition, you don't have Dwarves anymore you just have something "called" a Dwarf.

>inb4 anvils
You've had a rough day and it's only getting worse.
After a life or death encounter with the strongest Espada you somehow managed to hold onto your life but lost.
Now after giving a good lecture to Apacci about safety hazards in Vanaheim you have Harribel standing next to you, insisting that she comes with you in order to meet Marr.
You sigh heavily before finally agreeing with her.
"It's not like I can stop you or anything.
Do as you please!"
She lets go of your shoulder.
"Thank you."
As you are leaving the house with the former Vasto Lorde in tow you notice that your limping gets worse.
In a moment of weakness your right leg gives in and you begin falling to the ground.
Harribel reaches out and grabs a hold of you by your shoulder.
"Are you alright?"
She asks as she begins observing your body for any obvious wounds.
"Y-yeah... thanks...
I guess I strained it a bit too much by just standing on it...
Damn it I should have asked Yata for a cane."
You reply to her as she is helping you stand.
It's quite embarrassing requiring aid for such a thing but you have no other option.
In a moment of clarity however you come up with something.
You begin reaching for your swords hilt as Harribel begins questioning your intentions.
"What are you doing?"
"When all else fails make stuff up."
You say as you grab hold of the ZanpakutÅ at your side.
"That's..."
"A shinigamis sword, yes."
"How do you have such a thing?"
"I wrangled it from a shinigamis hand while he was still alive.
Truth be told I almost forgot it even existed."
She looks over the worn blade.
"But what do you hope to achieve with it?"
"Watch."
You begin channeling reiatsu into your palm and watch as mucus begins to build in your fist clenched around the blade.
The goo slowly trickles down until it fully coats the sword from the guard downwards.
When that's done you jam the blade into the sand under you and when you pull it out the sword has been transformed into a makeshift cane for you to use.
As you place the sword on the ground and lean on it you can feel the pressure lessening on your weak leg.
"That'll do."
"Incredible..."
Harribel marvels at your power.
After making sure that the sword can support your weight you turn your attention to Harribel.
"Shall we?"
"After you."
It doesn't take you too long to find Marr, usually the place where the others don't dare to go is a safe bet.
When you arrive you can see the titan carefully fiddling around with his helmet while he is surrounded by piles of rubble.
As he raises the helmet in order to put it on it crumbles while in his hand.
"FUCK!"
He lets out a quick shout as he looks down at the remains of his headwear.
"Perhaps it's a wrong time to disturb him..."
Harribel whispers to you.
"There's no point in delaying the inevitable."
You reply to her and begin limping towards the giant.
Marr after noticing you sits down in a very relaxed manner at the largest pile of rocks.
He gives you an incredibly fiendish grin as you approach.
"You seem to be walkin' all funny like!
Did you perhaps step on spike or something?"
"You could say that.
By the way what's wrong with your attire?
It seems to be much more segmented than the last time I saw it."
You reply to him in a sarcastic manner.
"Turns out ya' busted it good.
It began falling apart when I wanted to put it on."
"I don't get it.
You said that it inhibited you so why did you wear it in the first place?"
"No real reason, it's just that every time some upstart fool wanted a piece of me and fought me all out it made me feel exhilarated whenever I revealed the secret of the armor to them when I reduced them to bloody rags.
Seeing the despair in the eyes as they realized how handicapped I was made me laugh!
In any case, what do you want?"
"I just came to check on you.
We cool?"
He grunts once and then stands up, his shadow completely engulfs you.
"You survived it didn'tcha?
But you do that again and I'll break you!"
He then looks at Harribel.
"And what about you?
Ya' lookin' for a good pounding too?"
Harribel responds in her usually calm manner.
"The woman who attacked you, she is my underling.
I came here on her behalf and if you still hold a grudge against her then I ask you to..."
"Ya' want me to turn a blind eye over that, correct?"
"No...
I just wish to receive her punishm-"
And in that instant you could hear a loud smack as Marr delivered a powerful swing right into Harribels left cheek.
Marr grins once more as he raises his still clenched fist, you can see some blood on his digits.
Harribels eyes are wide and you can see a glint of fear in them.
She however quickly regains her composure and straightens herself.
She looks Marr straight in the eye and then turns her head, exposing the left side of her face.
"Continue if you wish."
Marr lets out a hearty laugh at this which was so intense he had to smother a tear.
"AHAHAHAHA THIS IS GREAT!
For a chick you sure have big balls, which I like!
And not only are you full of piss and vinegar but y'er a tough bitch which I LOVE!!"
He begins swatting the air, signaling for you to leave.
"You made my day blondie, now get out before I change my mind."
She bows down before him.
"Thank you!"
As the two of you are leaving she keeps caressing her right cheek.
"That went better than I expected."
"You could say that again."
As you are walking you begin to wonder the extent of damage she suffered from that.
You could help her but given your condition and the fact that you used your powers to construct your cane means your reserves of the Einherjar is already low and this could further delay your recovery.
>Heal her.
>Don't heal her
>Other? (Write-in)
Hey there /tg/.
For a while I've been wondering if there's a system, fanmade or otherwise, that helps emulate the kind of things you see in a Final Fantasy.
I came across a system titled Final Fantasy d20 online that seems to use 3.PF as a base. I'm really hesitant to use it since my experiences with 3.PF haven't exactly been good. I've also heard about an FFd100/d6 system, yet I've not seen those around.
None of the current FF systems are good.
Frankly, Final Fantasy has such a broad range of combat and magic systems that trying to dilute them down to one system isn't feasible. You just end up with a system that's cluttered and unsatisfying.
Try Anima
>>48548803
I've seen things about Anima. How does it play?
>>48548788
I don't think that's true. If you focus on the games that utilize classes (the classic games, things like Bravely Default, etc.) you could have a pretty good system. Though preferably I'd like to see something Ivalice-based.

Which system has the best stats in your opinion, /tg/?
DnD is iconic and simple yet overly compresses STR/DEX/WIS to represent things they shouldn't represent, like WIS for spot. Shadowrun and Dark Heresy on the otherhand are spot on, though they have too many attributes as a result.
I'm a fan of how Ironclaw does it. You have 6 stats:
- Body
- Speed
- Mind
- Will
- Species
- Career
The last two boost things relating to your species/career.
I like GURPS's attributes.
>Strength
>Dexterity
>Intelligence
>Health
>Willpower
>Perception
The only thing I'm not entirely keen on is that Perception and Willpower are determined by Intelligence, which I'd say is neither realistic nor representative of cinematic conventions.
>>48547318
>DnD ... overly compresses
STR, DEX, CON, WIS, INT, CHA
> Shadowrun ... spot on
STR, DEX, CON, WIS, INT, CHA
Wait, sorry, I meant
Strength, Quickness, Body, Willpower, Intelligence, and Charisma.
Toooooootally different.
But maybe you're talking about the latest edition?
That adds Reaction, and splits intelligence into Logic and Intuition. Oh, and LUCK.

Can someone explain the whole "Drow being turned into Driders" thing? Is it a curse, a blessing or some weird mix of both? What I've read seems contradictory and I don't get it.
If Lloth herself is basically a drider, and all drow have a mssive hard-on for both her and spiders, then why is being turned seen as a bad thing?
Similar note, I have a player who at some point wants to be a drider, or be able to turn into one (werewolf style). He's playing an appropriately asshole drow, so it *could* be possible, I just have no idea how to incorporate it.
Is he right, /5eg/?

You are Brianna la Croix, sanctioned necromancer, and you're curious about this princess Amy is talking to. You haven't met many (any) princesses before and you have to admit, the idea is pretty neat.
>>48487747
You approach without hurry. It's been a long day and now night on your feet and you don't feel the need to push yourself further than you have to.
Especially not if you wanna get Amy out of that dress later, which you /really do/.
"They sound very wise," Amalie is saying as you approach. "Though I have to say, there's something to suggest for your approach to problem solving. Everyone being straightforward would certainly simplify /my/ job."
"I'm still not quite getting some of the stuff you're talking about," Amy admits. "Money in the Roost is pretty straightforward and - Bri!"
You laugh as you get an armful of half-harpy. "I love you too, Ames," you say warmly. "Your Highness, do you mind if I join you?"
"Not at all," Amalie answers graciously. She quirks an eyebrow, expectantly, waiting for - for what?
