Do you consider math an art?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8671865
If you do recreational mathematics, like those people who find weird ways to represent the distribution of primes and then generate pictures and shit, or people who define fractals, etc. Then you are an artist, and a very good one at that. An artistic mathematician.
>>
>>8671865
Deriving mathematical relationships and disproving things in natural sciences are usually elegant and therefore the results of art.
>>
>>8671865
It involves a lot of creativity. But I see it more as exploration rather than creation. Art is about creating something from nothing.

What are some good safe ideas for nuclear waste disposal?

Why don't they just drill shafts that are a few KM deep into the ground and just dump it in there then with the last KM just fill that back in with rock?

It's easier to make new age weaponry out of nuclear waste, waste not want not.

Building nuclear power generating stations is just a simple artifact of the new age weaponry biz.

why arent we using a conveur belt to pile everything up in tchernobyl
i mean its radioactive already and has a big closed up space
>>

They already do that. In Ontario there's a controversy over what to do with nuclear waste. Ontario Power Generation wants to bury nuclear waste deep in the bedrock close the Lake Huron but a lot of people are against it. I'm for it because it's safer than transporting the waste and the chance of leakage is next to nothing.

I have a theory about the universe that may change the perception of your reality. Those with linear minds may reject the theory on the grounds that it would create a paradigm shift in what you think you know. I would say I'm not positive of my theory, but, if my theory is true, then there is no uncertainties. There is no free will and no mistakes.

Firstly, consider the fact that there is a logical order to the universe. Look at the equation e^(i*pi)+1=0. These constants show, undeniably, that there is at least some structure to the world we live in. Next, look at the advancements of computing power as a whole. It is of my opinion that, as a matter of when, rather than if, we will create a computer simulation of our universe. A simulation could be so advanced that conscience beings within this simulation could spawn. In conjunction with the fact there is a logical order to the universe, the fact that we will eventually create a simulation of the universe with conscience beings lead to a statistical probability that will change your reality. The odds of us being the "first" universe to create a simulation are slim. Rather, we are likely the simulation of a simulated universe of a simulated universe...etc. Yes, I believe that our universe, our reality, is just a simulation.

Was there ever a general consensus on the geological processes that could have formed such a structure? I mean anyone would agree that it's markedly different from the surrounding rock, as well as any rock we've seen on the planet in general.

>routes have to be carefully planned so that the rover will keep working as long as possible

I understand this, like there are some other formations that have turned up in these images that I would say were very interesting but not worth turning back for, but I feel like this one is different from all of those.

In this general we will slowly build the most efficient system of governance that is scientifically beneficial and free of any emotional influences.

Thread guide:
>propose one idea
>describe the logic behind it
>constructively criticize others' ideas

We will run through as many iterations of this thread as needed until we finally design the most rational and scientific ideology, using it to cleanse /sci/, /pol/ and the rest of 4chan of their retardation so they're unable to influence any more elections in a harmful way not only towards science, but also in general.

Before the world can concentrate on science and progress it must be united under one banner so that there are no external threats should the country focus on scientific progress.
This can be done with making a nuclear/orbital exchange with the west without their ability to strike back

>The first square is the odd one out since it is the only figure in that set to have nothing unique to that set.

But by being the only figure in the set that has nothing unique to it, it is unique.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interesting_number_paradox

There's no correct answer to OP's pic without first estabilishing what "odd" means, exactly, or equivalently, what's not "odd". Which is why I, personally, dislike these kinds of puzzle.

As for OP: Can't help you with your post, so have a polite sage.

Hey annons, have you guys seen the self driving uber cars? They have this bar with cameras and a spinner camera that, I assume, maps a 3D space for the computer to navigate with. Such a great idea, but self-driving cars always had the compatibility issue; how can you make everyone get a self-driving car? Simple you make an add on & make every car have one. The implications of self-driving are so good: traffic will be nonexistent, all human error will be removed and crashes and road deaths will decrease, and it’s fucking future as fuck. Lets talk about the good and the bad of this. Thoughts?

Is it possible for there to be a biological organism that can actively (not passively such as hitchhiking on meteorites) travel through space with its body alone, no tools or vessels?
15 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
there are organisms that can survive in space if thats what you mean
>>
>>8673304
I know, what I mean though is, is it theoretically possible for an organism to be able to travel through space with its body alone?

Let's give it optimal conditions: It has eaten fully and is well rested, in optimal physical condition. It is then placed in space.

Is it possible for an organism to exist with inherent navigational capabilities (a primitive and instinctual understanding of orbital mechanics) so that it can then exert minor thrust in one direction to orient itself, then exert a larger thrust to go where a planet will eventually end up, and enter a hibernation mode while it floats through space, waking up occasionally to re-orient itself?

Is this theoretically possible to evolve on a planet?

I assume the answer is no but I just thought I'd ask if anyone thought it was theoretically possible
>>
>>8673331
How would it get out of the planet?

When it comes to animals like Apes, Dolphins, Penguins, birds and elephants; scientists say that those animals are intelligent because they are social creatures. However, when it comes to humans, the most intelligent of us are usually solitary loners. What went wrong?

>Seems like it was simultaneously extremely dangerous due to the risk of oxygen explosions

Oxygen is not explosive. It enhances the flammability of materials in its environment.

And yes, it's a bad choice. Did he have a choice? What I wonder is, ... they brought candles?

If we have evolved to throw things far and accurately (more or less) for hunting purposes, what purpose does catching things serve? Pure self-defense? We can do it rather well to say the least.

What is the biological advantage of having evolved to shitpost on the internet?

checkmate athiests
>>
>>8672261
I thought of self-defense: as in avoiding being punctured by an arrow from a "slow" fellow hunter. Catching is the complement of "moving the hell out of the way to avoid that arrow." It also helped dealing with all the uncivilized people who could not hand things to other people politely.

> We can do it rather well
In fact, most people are severely uncoordinated: their posture and gate is deformed as if by malnutrition (lacking one or more vital amino acids in childhood) and immaturity (senselessness, again can be caused by malnutrition).
