If there were a god and God had a gender, she would likely be female.
Maturing past the need for gods is a sign of intelligence (accepting responsibility). All religions are failures: and usually made up by insecure, inadequate guys and ped-rapists.

Hey /sci/

Im a beginner at c programming language and theres a lot of learning resources out tgere but i was thinking of something that would be really helpful, and im hoping that it exists.

So the idea is that its basically like coding but in chunks at a time so like instead of typing out all the code character by character, you have bits and pieces already put together and you just need to sort of fit them together properly.

If anybodys played human resource machine, its like that but with the actual syntax.

Anyways the point is i figure something like this must exist. Just curious if anybofy knows. Thanks in advance.

Lots of things like that exist, and they're generally seen by programmers as a waste of time.
Once you have experience with programming you don't write programs "a character at a time" anyway, you create the bits and pieces and string them together mentally as you work.
>>
Hey OP, check out hackerrank challenges, I think you'll like it.

Basically you're given input(s), and your task is to make a program that produces a certain output.

You don't have to do it in C, you can also try other programming languages to do the task. There's support for a lot of languages.

It's very much like Human Resource Machine.
>>
>>8671516

I liked "Learn C the Hard Way" back when I first started learning because it basically would start you off with a concept, and then send you off to try to break shit.

It was free back then. I think he charges for it now. It's too bad. You can probably find it for free online somewhere.

Personally, Quartz, simply because it's such a versatile mineral, there's so many varieties, it's extremely common, and has incredible inclusions. Fluorite following that (much like quartz, incredible variety and color), and I'd say Tourmaline as well.

>>8668351
Beautiful Tourmaline, one of my favorites as well. Looks like it has some Lepidolite (the purple stuff) growing on the sides as well.

Also, gonna post a few minerals from my parent's collection since this is a mineral thread. I'm no expert and I can't identify everything, so maybe you guys could help. They're actually coming back from Tucson, Arizona tomorrow after buying even more minerals there, both to sell and for their own collection.

First up, Quartz with blue inclusion mineral, I'm not sure what it is and I can't find the placard for this specimen, I think it has some ajoite in it though.

Has the number possible chess games ever been calculated?
93 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
First you have to define what you mean by number of possible games, because it's not as easy as you think.

Do different numbers of oscillations of stalemate count as different games? If two games take different routes to arrive at a final game state, does that count as different games? What if there is a minor variation in the middle of a game that resolves to be identical past a certain point to another game? If two players spend two rounds advancing pawns forward one space versus one round advancing one space, are those different games?
>>
>>8669691
No
>>
>>8669701
I'd say yes to all those questions. But it doesn't really matter, because the question is still applicable for all (reasonable) definitions.

As long as we can discount infinite oscillations, but chess has rules against that, right? And also disregarding obtusely trivial definitions like saying all permutations of moves that end with one color winning as being equivalent games.

t. high school teacher who taught me false """""""""""mathematics"""""""""""""""

Okay I've managed to confuse myself. The gradient always points in the direction of greatest increase, right? By this statement, could that greatest increase be negative? (Greatest decrease?)

I'm looking at a graph, pic related, and my book says that "grad f" (where f = x^2 - y^2) equals -2j, so f increases fastest in the direction of -j. How the hell does this make sense? -j is decreasing.

Noo motivation, no energy, can't think. Constant anxiety irritable makes you depressed. Can't do shit. Feel like a 4 year old.
>>
I was diagnosed with schizoaffective (which is basically on/off bipolar and schizophrenia, co-morbidity symptoms) about 4-5 years ago. So I've been living with this for a while now.

>What parts of your life does it affect?
it affects a few things like social life, personality (maybe? i've always been kindof an "odd ball"), lack of motivation (might be depression?), among a few other things.

Most people my age are already working on their careers, and I don't really have a plan. I know I don't want to be on SSI all my life or have these full time, dead-end jobs. So, yeah.

I've been on SSI for 3-4 years, and I idealistically would like to get off of it. Because of my socio-political stance, I feel it's contributing to depression symptoms. Sometimes I have mindfog during work and I feel that affects my ability to lead and keep the jobs I have gotten, so I'm kindof stuck. And I think that that's the biggest problem.

Recently, within the past 1-2 years, I've been getting better, since i've been working and things like that. I've had good friends help me out with job opportunities, which i've taken gleefully. Very few friends know I have this condition.

>does it help to talk about it
maybe? I talked about it with multiple different therapists for the first several years. but I find just hanging out with the people I can relate to is the best form of therapy. I think most people are like that.

The therapy was also coupled with strong medication, like heavy doses of Seroquel, which essentially put me into a figurative coma-- I never wanted to do anything, motivation was gone, and I felt like a "zombie". That, coupled with personal experiences from medication. Are the things which turned me off to medication as a whole.
