since theres no medical board i figured id ask you anons
How much would a medical bill be for an amputated limb, and then are advanced prosthetics cheap enough to be available for someone of average income
Also, how far along are we with prosthetics development? Have we reached cyberpunk level or are we still just putting fancy sticks where limbs used to be
regular limbs are still far superior to robotic limbs in basically every respect, so not very far in terms of fantasy levels. however, robotic arms functionality has greatly improved in recent years

>Have we reached cyberpunk level
Pretty much.

You guys keep discussing wether man made global warming is real, this is the real threat : http://www.advancedsciencenews.com/co2-on-the-brain-and-the-brain-on-co2/
Why is no one alarmed, this is insanity.

Because magic isn't real fuck face
Okay I know this is a meme topic, but seriously, why haven't we figured out "unlimited" power? Now obviously nothing is unlimited, in the sense that eventually the universe will lose all energy, for all practical purposes.
The earth is spinning. We have gravitational pulls. How have we NOT translated this into unlimited power yet?
>>8670074
How do you propose we do it without impacting the earth?
Like if we harness wave energy it could fuck up currents and so on, possibly disrupting ecosystems or causing large chains of events we cant predict?
>>8670082
>if we start cutting down trees for fuel, we'll fuck up the ecosystems!
>if we start digging up coal and oil out of the earth, we will fuck up the ecosystems!
it'll be fine
>>8670074
Literally every form of energy production we do save nuclear and geothermal eventually traces back to the sun, which for us obviously is effectively unlimited.
Hey /sci/,
I'm really interested in astronomy and I want to buy my first telescope soon. Any recommendations?
>pic related, I heard it's quite good for beginners
>>8669392
>cheap and easy to use
Yeah it seems good
Install
http://www.stellarium.org/
And plug in the scopes data, get some quality eyepieces too
I dislike altazimuth mounts personally, but with a tube that size you really don't have much of a choice.
IT should be a good beginners scope, enjoy it OP

Generally:
1) If you don't know the sky, get binoculars and a book to learn constellations. Otherwise, you won't have a clue where to look. Also, binocs can be used for terrestrial viewing. Make sure it has a threaded hole for accepting a tripod adapter. Mounting binocs on a tripod turn them into a completely different set of optics.
2) Find a local astronomy club or web site and lurk. Forget 4Chan for this quest.
3) If 4 inches or less, buy a refractor. Larger, a reflector.
4) Make sure it is designed to use 1¼"
eyepieces.

If you shove suppositories up your ass, I know the drug goes from the portal vein to your liver and from your liver to the rest of your body.
But does your liver also dump some of this back into your small intestine?
That would make sense right?
I need the drug I'm taking to get into my small intestine.

I wonder what music does /sci/ like, pic related.
mostly instrumental music because it goes well with studying and problem solving.
I listen to all kinds of music. I play a few instruments too.

Welcome all to the 4th DMCT! Work on math problems, post solutions, and feel free to add your own problems!
Today's problem is pic related. Note that F_n indicates the nth Fibonacci number.
This is easily done using the closed form for the fibonacci sequence.
Let's try for a solution that doesn't use that.
1/3?
Just to clarify:
F_1 = 1
F_2 = 1
F_3 = 2

HOW THE FUCK DO I LEARN CALCULUS I.

Dude calc 1 is the easiest shit, you need to move on. If you're actually having emotional problems you need to move on.
Mental illness and depression IS clearly a BIOLOGICAL DISEASE caused by PARASITES AND WORMS. Its not a "just bee yourself XD XD" problem where exercise and thinking happy thoughts is going to make it go away.
Why isn't there more research done on this?
Why aren't psychologists being lined up and shot for spreading lies?

Hey, I was on that thread too.
Quit trolling and go away.
You have no evidence for a majority of depression being caused by worms and/or parasites.

>he fell for the airplane meme
Airplanes are fucking deathtraps.
There's at least one crash every year with no survivors.
It's mind boggling to me how something that tales so much careful planning and time to construct still fails quite frequently.
How do engineers justify this?
If I pull that mask off, will you die?
What's a better alternative?
>>8671108
Why stop at airplanes? More people die in cars per year than they do planes. Shit is going to happen when you put people in something that necessitates a high amount of energy to function.
Were any of you exposed to this or other pseudoscience as you grew up?
>be me

>get told Earth was only 6000 years old, because James Ussher studied Bible genealogy.
>Noah got all of the animals, even dinosaurs on the ark
>After the flood, which covered the whole earth, dinosaurs, woolly mammoths, and saber-tooth tigers etc. were hunted to extinction.
>Lost my faith a while after hearing this.
>>8670703
Why did your parents send you to a fucking bible school after being home schooled?
I quibble:
YEC is not a pseudo-science, it is a creation myth (or, to be perfectly fair, maybe divinely revealed truth.) But it does not pretend to be a science or a product o science, and belief in it is older than anything we'd label "science.".
Fairly recently, attempts to get YAC taught in public schools led to the creation of a pseudo-science labeled "Intelligent design." THAT one is a pseudo-science invented to try and put YEC on what would pass for a scientific footing.
The two are different concepts.
>>8670703
>>Lost my faith a while after hearing this.
And did Black Science Man make you lose faith in science as well?
