Can you see unassisted at night during a new moon? If so how much how far and how in how much detail?

So I'm joining the Marines and leave for bootcamp at the end of june and I really wanna do a decent camping trip with some friends before I go. I'm just not sure where would be good for it. I'm based out of Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. Don't particularly want to drive more than six hours. Looked up camping areas and what not, just want some other peoples input.

Can an excessive amount of hiking cause hemorrhoids?
I do a lot of hiking. About 200 miles of hiking this year, and that's reduced from previous years.
And now I have developed one large, painful hemorrhoid. Should I stop hiking to prevent it getting worse? Could it be that hiking is what caused it
What can I do to treat it short term? I don't want to go to the doctor with it.

So who else is enjoying the heat in the south East?

Sc here and thought I would share what a friend in dnr just told me regarding the south East

Due to the almost non existent winter, deer aren't dying out like normal and dnr is really freaking out internally (at least in sc)

most plants think it's already spring and are already flowering, meaning there will be a huge glut of food for many deer right now and noaa suggests the south East won't really get a winter at all this season meaning many animals will be severely over populated.

Apparently sc is contemplating starting their deer season in June and increasing the bag limit on antlerless deer and potentially calling for more both sex says

Should be an interesting hunting season, I may actually get some tags for an antlerless deer this year

Hi /out/, wanna share camping stories if you have any good ones?

Here's one from last night:
>Me and boyfriend decide to go camping at Lake Louisa state park
>go there and look around, its super lame
>decide on going to Lake Eaton at the Ocala National Forest
>get there at 6:00PM
>quickly set up tent and try to get a fire going before sunset
>sun sets twenty minutes after we get there
>only have shitty flashlights and a citronella lamp
>set everything up and start cooking steaks over a charcoal grill
>fast forward a few cozy hours
>in tent at 10PM
>talking quietly and suddenly we hear deep heavy breathing right outside my side of the tent
>didn't hear footsteps or leaves crunching or anything
>deep heavy breathing continues for a few minutes, can only hear the exhales that are spaced a few seconds apart
>there'd be no reason for a bear to approach the tent because we placed all the food back into the jeep in a cooler and cleaned up all of our trash already, unless this is that one rabid black bear you'd hear about in the news
>don't have any bear spray on us anyways
>boyfriend says "I'll grab the gun" incase its a person, we left the rifle back at home
>breathing stops completely a few seconds later, still don't hear any movement outside
>give it a few seconds and exit tent slowly, get into jeep and turn high beams on and the car to face the tent
>start packing everything up because we aren't actually prepared to defend ourselves against a bear or person trying to kill us
>leave

I'm sure it was just a bear, but the fact that it disappeared after we mentioned grabbing a gun was a little worrisome especially since Ocala National Forest is known for being a hunting ground for serial killers and also rainbow people during the winter.

Considering getting a new Archwood backpack. But not sure if I should go for the Black Geiser L5-PSi, or one of the Flextrek Whipsnake series.
I already have a Crevasse French Wedge on order, so I know I'm ready for either one.

Hey /out/, /trv/ here

I'm heading off to the Harbin Ice Festival in a week and, being Australian, have no idea how to deal with days of -10 and nights of -25.

At the moment I'm thinking
>thermals, couple of flannel shirts, fleece jacket +/- light raincoat for wind
>thermals, jeans (I know, cotton kills, but Harbin's pretty dry and I won't be venturing far from the city anyway so maybe I could get away with it)
> 2xsocks and my leather hiking boots.
>Fleece gloves
Will that be enough? Should I check out an army surplus store for some synthetic trousers, beanie, scarf? Maybe buy an enoromous Russian coat while I'm over there?

So the other thread about metal detecting is garbage, so I'm making a better one. My friend owns a Bounty Hunter Time Ranger, and the other day we went out near a dry pond and an old cattle ranch.

Found a brooch with a psychedelic design on the front, a couple pennies and a quarter, part of a hydraulic ram cylinder, and a 1901-1914 era Winchester shotgun shell.

I actually searched without a metal detector, mostly for mushrooms and trash, and found a tin of air rifle pellets(still good) 4 pennies, a lapel pin with a lotus on it, and some Witches Butter fungus.

Dear /out/doorsmen,

I'm writing you today because I want to know what you believe to be the best "outdoor"stove currently on the market. I know I could easily heat rocks to cook with but I don't think the people I'd take camping with me would appreciate their food cooked in such a manner. The Firebox G2 is making waves and the BushBox Ultralight ( see picture ) along with the Emberlit are popular but if I'm going to sink money into a stove like this I want to do so only after getting opinions on which one is best and why. Maybe you like the stove you're using because it is durable or easy to assemble; tell me about it. Maybe the stove you prefer is easy to feed into; I want to know. Let us discuss the best "outdoor" stove.
