Set some crawfish traps in a local pond. Only like 1/4 acre and 2' deep max but spring fed and FULL of mud bugs. Baited with 3 frozen trout heads each and come back next morning to find pic related. Big 6" holes in the netting AND holes in the bait pouches. The fish heads were nowhere to be found. Zero crawfish in the traps. What could it have been? I'm thinking muskrat or snapping turtle, have seen both in this pond. It couldn't be the crawfish doing this...could it?

Hi /out/. I normally don't come over here often, but I need to ask a question. I'm going to Banff in a few weeks with some friends to go hiking. Has anyone been hiking up there? Know any good trails? I'll post pics once I get back. Also, I'm worried about bears. Does bear mace work?
Thanks!

Grotto Creek Canyon and Heart Mountain trail are just across the highway from each other, east of Canmore so outside the park, but they're both easy, beautiful hikes. Around 4k and they both lead to really scenic water falls.

Lead poisons waterfowl. It would trigger rednecks too if they had half a brain between them and were capable of rational thought.

I'm the guy from the /fa/ thread that recommended you go with the L.L. Bean. I guess i was wrong about people here giving more suggestions. I did some more research on rain gear and found these,

>Backcountry
This website has the best selection from all major brands. Lots of great choices for <$100. (pic related)
http://www.backcountry.com/mens-rain-jackets?sort=%2Bprice

>Grundens
This is the gear that Alaskan king crab fishermen wear, but they don't have much in your price range.
http://shop.grundens.com/

>Frogg Toggs
I'm just mentioning this website in case you also came across it. They have the cheapest rain gear, but it's apparently similar to disposable ponchos because it rips easily.

Hey guys, reporting in with my rocket.
I have sown waaayy too many seeds, this being my first time ever dealing with anything other than bonsais.
How big do these need to be until I can transplant them into my garden?
And how would I go about it? Are there any special tricks or things I need to be aware of?

How would /out/ feel about a thread on outdoor nudity? Not trying to be lewd or overly sexual, just about being free and exposed to nature. A /nude/ general, if you will?

This is something I've gotten into recently, but it's impossible to discuss with normal folks in your life without coming off like a loon or a pervert.

Would /out/ be interested in this topic?

My dad taught me at a young age that the best thing about being innawoods is you can piss wherever you want.

Then my friend got shipped off to some wilderness camp in Oregon one summer, and when he came back he would take shits in any bush he could find. I'm talking the nearest bush in an urban area. I think he took it too far.

Red pill me on goats /out/
My family kept one or two when I was young, and I remember them being a huge pain in the ass as far as keeping them out of flowers and other plants.
We are looking to keep a few for milk and meet.
Any advice is appreciated.
Husbandry, different breeds, how to make goat cheese, tricks for keeping them penned in, anything.
I know they are Satan incarnate

The males stink of musk and can be belligerent.
Keep the females in line and the males will follow.
They will try to eat everything, but everything isn't good for them.
They need more than grass to eat, they prefer everything else, grass is their last resort food.
They are amazing escape artists, fence well.
They can climb just about anything including a fence or your car/truck/house/barn/trees.
They are super curious about anything and everything.
They love attention.
They will playfully or seriously headbutt you at any moment you let down your guard.
You need a centrifuge separator to separate the naturally homogeneous milk into cream and such (google "goat milk cream separator" but also check out this link for not using one to separate the cream http://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/how-to-make-goat-milk-butter-zmaz78jazbur.aspx ).
Don't use "goat fencing" with the large holes, they just get their heads stuck all the time.
Use a stick or rod on goat horns to stop them from walking into places that get their horns stuck (like through goat fencing).
>>
>>818479

Baby goats are cute as fuck.
>>

Thanks for the input. Any advice on goat proofing the fencing? Maybe a curve back to the inside of the fence at the top?

>go /out/ camping with a new friend (32yo)
>he says he fucking loves camping
>12-mile hike to the campsite
>he complains the entire time about insects even though nothing ever lands on me
>he eats all the M&Ms out of the trail mix he bought and never touches it again
>he constantly plays some kid's game on his phone running around the woods getting "lost" two times and panicking
>turns out he only brought trail mix to eat on an 8-day camping trip
>he actually said, "Oh I'll just get water at the fountain" when I asked him how much water he was packing even though I gave him a map of the area and told him we'd be up to 15 miles from the nearest anything human related.
>he literally can not setup a tent to save his life
>he didn't want to boil water to drink
>his phone died early on and with nothing to do he just sat around complaining and looking like his fried died
>to top it off, in some unimaginable way he gets poison ivy rash from head to foot

That wasn't even remotely half of it, but I'm not typing up a wall of text. It's been 2 days and he's still not returned to work, he's probably shitting himself to death or something. Worst camping trip of my life, even worse than when someone threw a "water snake" at me and it was actually a copperhead which bit me.

Why is finding a camping buddy that isn't a fucking retard so difficult?
